I have been a pain patient with Desert Orthopedic for 6 years. This year my insurance changed. So, I'm sorry to say that I chose Apex Medical to be my new provider. As my records can attest to, I am a compliant patient who works out, meditates, eats well, and attends counseling and medication management for Complex PTSD. I also have a heart defect which is managed by an implanted monitor. I made an honest effort by providing most recent medical records, including the most recent UA done by Desert ortho. All of this was done to be completely transparent. After two weeks of juggling and phone calls to get the right referral into the right system for Apex, I finally had an appointment. I did a UA before being brought back to the exam room. The medical assistant was thourough and kind. I was told I would be seeing Dr. Lee for a consultation when the appointment was made. This did not happen. The doctors PA was sent in to tell me that they can only treat patients who are taking 1mg or less of Alprazolam a day. I take 1.5 to 2mg per day. If I didn't change my dose, they couldn't help me. This is for my Complex PTSD. I was informed by the PA that Apex is the stricktest Pain management practice in the valley. Well I guess if you have any other issues other than pain, they cannot see you. I felt completely sick and defeated by this. They had my current med list since the 7th of April and could have informed me over the phone and not made the appointment. But, I guess that is just wishfull thinking to use the information you have already been given to pre-determine if you can help someone. And that is just it. Are you there to help? I know this experience only left me more triggered and without the care I needed. Apex got what they needed in order to decide if they wanted to care for me. I will be sending a formal complaint to Blue Cross Blue Shield about this provider. So many places where care fell through the cracks including going through their process for two weeks and now I am back to square one with no pain management care.

Now for the other one who I'm guessing is the owner/boss that everyone calls EZ. I used to work in the operating room and have delt with VERY large egos and God complexes but he takes the cake, never once looked me in the eye didn't even have the decency to turn around I spoke to his back the entire time. I know that pain management are anesthesiologist but I wouldn't let that man put my dog to sleep. It's said it's easy to put someone to sleep the hard part is waking them up how many many didn't wake up? Who knows when the last time he gave gas. I know this will fall on deaf ears but he is the reason I stopped pain management because having to deal with him every 6 months to a year is not worth it. The only reason I'm still with Apex is because of the girls and the PA's at the Bonanza office. EZ could learn a lot from the staff there starting with some humility.

Dr Bonnick is very thorough and focused. She is also very stable and I believe I will be able to use her as my GP years to come. Dr Bonnick uses her knowledge and skills to make informed decisions regarding my healthcare, she does not just read the notes for the day but follows my medical history even though I am not as informed as I should be she listenes to me.
