I had been a patient of Dr. Lawyer for years, so naturally I was nervous and honestly a little sad when I found out he had left the practice. Change can be difficult, especially when it comes to someone you trust with your eye care. However, after seeing Dr. Nadia Afkhami, I can genuinely say I felt immediately comfortable and reassured.

Dr. Afkhami is incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and thorough. She took the time to listen to my concerns, explain everything clearly, and made me feel like more than just another patient on the schedule. You can tell she truly cares about providing excellent care and building trust with her patients.

I had been coming here for years and always saw Dr. Lawyer, who was an excellent doctor. I was very sad to learn that he sold his practice. The new doctor, however, was thorough and took the time to answer my questions, which I appreciated.

Unfortunately, the front desk staff needs significant improvement in both efficiency and professionalism. After my appointment, I decided to look at glasses. I didn’t mind waiting at first, as the staff member was helping another patient. I waited patiently. But when she finally came to assist me, she seemed rushed. She explained my insurance benefits, then said she would check for more options in the back. That alone took about 10 minutes.

When she returned, she handed me three pairs of glasses and told me to try them on while she stepped away. Instead of coming back, she went to the check-in desk, started answering calls, verifying insurance, and even scheduling appointments. Meanwhile, I was left sitting there with no acknowledgment.

Eventually, I got up and asked another staff member to check me out. I was not offered any apology or explanation for the delay.

Everyone’s time is valuable. Patients should not be left waiting while other tasks are prioritized. The transition in ownership is understandable, but professionalism and respect for patients should remain consistent. Every patient deserves equal attention and care.

I had a wonderful experience at John C. Lawyer O.D., Ltd. The staff was warm, welcoming, and very professional from the moment I walked in. Dr. Lawyer was thorough, patient, and took the time to clearly explain my eye exam results and answer all of my questions.

Dr. Lawyer is patient and kind. He takes his time with exams and he noticed my macular degeneration had progressed from dry to wet so gave me a referral and the scan that he did to take to my specialist. He’s an excellent eye doctor and my husband and I appreciate him.

Ever since I needed to use glasses 30 some years ago, I have been going to Dr. Lawyer/Dr. Doyle for my eye exams and glasses. While I have recently switched things up by getting my glasses online, I still go there for my annual eye exams as the staff is very friendly.

*****BEWARE KERATOCONUS PATIENTS****

The situation explained below ending up being a blessing. Dr. Lawyer had diagnosed me with Keratoconus the year prior and briefly explained what it was. He made no referral for a specialist and dissuaded me from looking into it because the solution was to put a hard contact lens that felt like I had a rock in my eye and would be extremely uncomfortable.

Now fast forward 18 months later to my canceled appointment documented below, I was able to make a same day appointment with a different doctor who had an opening. Upon a quick exam he made an emergency appointment for me with Wellish Vision the next day. Wellish immediately set me up for pre-op appointments for crosslinking as my right eye was months away from potential permanent vision loss.

Fast forward to today and a few procedures later after seeing a handful of vision specialists. After hearing my story, each one remained mum with a look of disbelief when I tell them I was diagnosed with keratoconus 18 months earlier with no referral.

So beware. I'm sure Dr Lawyer can nail down a scrip but if you are experiencing sudden vision disruption seek a 2nd opinion. I was fortunate a doctor in the know was available that same day, I was also unfortunate my keratoconus could have been addressed 18 months sooner the minute it was diagnosed.

As with most medical places money is more important than the person. We all know medical facilities have poor customer service and they are no different here. You make a verbal agreement for an appointment via the phone and they give you the proverbial no show will have consequences schtick. You think that would be it. I've never missed a medical appointment my whole life, it's not that complicated of a transaction. Then they proceed to assault you with appointment reminders via both email and phone.

I'm on my yearly summer vacation with the family can you give it a rest? It's as if they are setting up their cross examination for the trial in small claims court for when I no show. Voicemail here. Voicemail there, email here. Click here to reschedule. Click here to confirm appointment. Oops. Pressed the wrong one, but still pressed confirm. Looks like you thought about canceling so we canceled it. Never mind you had to take time off from work and completely adjust your schedule. Look, the reminders are over bearing and come across extremely condescending. My 10 year old gets fewer reminders from her parents.

It's too bad they aren't as caring when it comes to cancelations/mixed messages. They just cancel for the next paying customer instead of confirming the cancelation because you know....bills, they have to be paid and such.

Whatever. They earned my rare review due to my situation and I'll take my business to the next uncaring location. More money for them. I'm sure they'll be thrilled.

Amazing customer service. I'm from Ohio but was in Henderson for a funeral and both of my contacts ripped and I didn't bring backups and didn't have my glasses. I appreciated Cathy who I talked with the week before my visit in assisting me in getting proper insurance for your office and how polite she was when doing her part of the examination. The young lady who was one of your receptionists and later worked with me for selecting which frame and glasses would be best for me was very courteous and understanding on both times that I dealt with her. Dr. Lawyer was detailed in assessing where my eyes were at by explaining why I had some problems in the past and what he was trying to accomplish with his thorough examination. I am grateful for the whole visit and look forward to getting a fine pair of glasses that are right for my eyes.

Stay away from Desiree. Have been shopping around for glasses and was referred to this place by a friend who got her glasses here . Very disappointed . The sales girl Desiree with the curly long brown hair was beyond rude . She rushed me , seemed agitated, and was rude . I had been wanting a specific frame and she would not help me adjust them or even try to listen to what I was saying to her . She makes me never want to return to your store . You should definitely get rid of her and replace her with someone who smiles and actually helps the customers.

Very friendly, nice, and helpful staff. The doctor is also friendly and kind. However, I was given ill-advice regarding daily disposable contact lenses and was suggested to frequently "re-use them for days to weeks at a time to save some money" (as opposed to throwing them away every night per manufacturer's recommendation). The explanation I received is that they're "basically made out of the same material" as their bi-weekly counterparts. I verified with my previous and new optometrists that this false claim can lead to long-term damage to your eyes due to the nature of the lens's breath-ability. Seeing that you only have one set of eyes in your lifetime, be wary of heeding such information from this licensed doctor.

I have the BEST Eye Dr. in town, for the last 15 years or longer. I usually go for an adjustment more than the normal person, I know I'm the worse patient they have, but busy or not I'm never turned back or wait longer than 5 minutes, also twice my frames were killing my nose and it's not their fault, frames were exchanged and fitted like a glove. I will say BIG THANK YOU TO HIM & HIS STAFF. "HAPPY NEW YEAR"

I recently took my 8 year old daughter to see Dr. Lawyer. I was expecting him to tell me that she was near blind and had to have specialty glasses,etc. After all. It's still a business. He did all the testing and told me her eyes were the same as when he had last seen her, when she was 5. No change. She could use a minimal prescription (IF I FELT LIKE DOING IT)... I didn't but my girl wanted them, and after consulting with him he explained it certainly wouldn't hurt her eyes. My point. This DR. is NOT in it for the money. It was great to find a professional these days with their morals still intact!
