Dr. Winder helped me with my previous injury, so I went back to him when my shoulder injury from a year ago (I didn’t seek medical help at that time) flared up.

As soon as I walked in I was greeted and checked in by a friendly front desk staff. Once I checked in, I waited only a couple of minutes until my name was called for an X-ray. After X-ray, they led me to an exam room where a PA took my vitals and asked me a few questions about the injury. A medical student came in to do some testing, then Dr. Winder came in to do some more tests and give me his opinion and next steps - one of which was getting a cortisol shot. And let me tell you, I was nervous because I had received a shot a few years ago back that was so very painful. I mentioned this to the nurse (Zach, I believe), and he said he will do his best to make sure it’s not as unpleasant. He has a touch of Angel, I felt a little pain but it was not bad at all!!! He took his time to make sure he released the shot slowly and less painfully. I really appreciated the extra seconds he spent with me to make sure I was comfortable.

I was referred to Dr. Winder for my shoulders. Arriving at his office was very easy to find. Once I checked in I was called back in under 5 minutes. I’m an OG DOC patient from 2000. Back then I was taken care of by Dr Dunn. He was awesome, best care ever. Had spinal fusion and still great today. Now I’m back with knee issues. The doctor was nice enough, but the experience with the administrative staff was a disaster. After the consultation, the doctor told me it would only take a couple of days to get the insurance authorization for just a knee injection. However, the back office staff told me they were backed up and I would have to wait four weeks just for them to send the request.
I am in immense pain and it is ridiculous to be told to wait a month for paperwork for a simple knee injection. The back office supervisor, Sergio Valdez, was incredibly unpleasant and unhelpful. He was very aggressive and acted more like a nightclub bouncer than a medical professional. I am stuck wondering who to believe because the doctor said one thing while the supervisor was hostile and dismissive. I will not be going back after being treated this way.

I came to Dr. Richard Winder with unbearable knee pain from a torn meniscus—I couldn’t even put weight on my foot. He examined the issue thoroughly, recommended a treatment plan, and gave me an injection to reduce inflammation. Within just 8 hours, I was able to take my first step again.

His staff is extremely polite, knowledgeable, and truly listens. As a cash-pay patient, the visit was very affordable, including medication. I also received clear after-care instructions and a plan for improving my knee going forward.

I saw Dr Winder for a very painful injury I recieved 3 weeks ago and was not diagnosed correctly from urgent care. He had xrays taken and explained the two broken bones I apparently had. He will see me again soon without surgery involved. He is a very easy Dr to speak to also. If you need an orthopedic surgeon and it’s something that Dr Winder specializes in you can stop looking, you found your guy. I tore my ACL for a second time and needed a surgeon. When you read reviews of Dr Winder, they are stellar. But when you look into his training and see that he trained under the orthopedic surgeon who has arguably been the best in the country for decades that was good enough for me. I barely sat down & was called to the desk by Sylvia who took my id & Insurance cards & finished asking a few questions from the forms I had filled out online. She also was nice. quick & experienced. Then I was taken back in 10 minutes prox. & Kira took my x-rays I brought in. She also was great & experienced. Then I waited for Dr. Winder, as he was very busy. When he came in, he had gone over my information & checked me out & I was confident in his decision. I waited again for his RN Meghan who also was busy but she was kind & took excellent care of me and I left happy. My appointment took a long time, however, it was well worth it. I was a bit disappointed that I am in need of a time sensitive surgery and Dr Winder can’t perform it and is referring me to another doctor because he’s going on vacation. I called Desert Orthopedic to make an appointment for my sore left knee and I was scheduled the following day to see Dr. Winder. When I arrived a tech took an X-ray of my knees before I saw the doctor. The X-ray showed arthritis and bone spurs in my left knee. The doctor gave me options to either go to rehab or do exercises at home to build up muscle in my legs. He then gave me a cortisone shot into my left knee which would help me to be able to walk around normal again in a few days. Within hours after I left the doctor office I felt great and was walking normal without any pain. I highly recommend Dr. Winder for your knee issues.

I went to Dr. Winder for a second opinion. I felt he was truly listening to my concerns and pain I was having due to a tibial plateau fracture. Based on his evaluation and advice, I am switching my care over to him. He cared enough to think about my nerve pain and validate its existence. Dr Winder had done a left hip replacement for me in 2018. The hip works perfectly after proper physical therapy. In 2019 I tore my right rotator cuff over a weekend. Dr Winder was able to see me the following Tuesday. He put in motion the required MRI and set a surgery date within the next two weeks. We visited Dr. Winder at theDesert Orthopaedic Center. We arrived about 20 minutes early so we would have ample time to complete the new patient paperwork. The office seemed very busy, however the front desk staff was extremely polite and courteous. I was pleasantly surprised when we were called back almost immediately upon turning in the paperwork. A friendly tech greeted us, took my son's vitals and learned the story behind the broken wrist. He quickly whisked him away for X-rays and returned with Dr. WInder. Dr. Winder was extremely caring with an excellent bedside manner and made certain to give my son every color cast option available to make it as cool as possible. He and the tech worked together to wrap the cast, left us with good instructions as to how to care for the cast (bathing directions etc.), what activities were allowed and scheduled a follow-up appt date. I can't recommend Dr. Winder enough. All patients should be fortunate enough to receive this type of excellent care. 5 stars for Dr. Winder.

Although I hobbled inside with a painful knee injury, I left with a smile after X-rays, a diagnosis & Options to consider in the future, and an immediate treatment to relieve my pain in the short term. Dr. Winder asked me alot of questions and listened to my answers & concerns, and answered all my questions completely. I did not feel rushed. He is very kind and empathetic.

Everyone at DOC was pleasant and efficient, wait was very short (under 10 minutes), X-rays with Vic were friendly and fast (not cold & silent), and I felt very comfortable with everyone I met during my appointment...which only took about I hour 15 minutes from walk-in to walk-out.

I was going to have my elbow operated on. He said that it would at least take two months to heal. He never told me that he was going to detach a muscle and reconnect until after I scheduled the operation. I canceled the operation and went to Scottsdale and Dr. Mark Leber operated on me. He did the same operation without detaching the muscle. Honestly, there was no recovery time. The people who worked at the surgical center told me that Dr. Leber was the best hand, wrist, and elbow doctor in the Phoenix Scottsdale area.
