Although the doctor and his staff were nice and professional, the out-of-pocket costs were beyond outrageous, and that is with my high level of dental insurance. To have a small amount of infection below the tooth root retreated would have cost me $1,000 out of pocket. In my opinion, having an endodontist license is equivalent to having a license to steal!

I don’t normally write long reviews, but after what I went through, I hope this helps someone considering Fife and Steffen Endodontics — especially if you’re paying out of pocket like I am.

My tooth pain started on July 27th and initially felt like it was coming from teeth #18 or #19. Over the next week and a half, I saw three different doctors, including a general dentist, my regular dentist, and an endodontist. I went through multiple X-rays, cold tests, tapping tests, a CT scan, and even had different areas of my mouth numbed to locate the pain. Despite all of this, no one could determine what was wrong.

As the pain became severe, it started feeling more concentrated around my crown on tooth #14, with sharp pain, tenderness, and lingering sensitivity to cold. Still, I was told the problem might not be dental and could possibly be neurological or sinus-related. At this point, I was frustrated, exhausted, and starting to question myself because I strongly felt something was being overlooked.

Desperate for another opinion, I scheduled appointments with 3 different primary health institutions. Still thinking this is an oversight and dental issue, I found Fife and Steffen Endodontics and called them. Even though this was technically my FOURTH opinion, they treated my situation with urgency and got me in the very next day.

Dr. Phan was incredible. He patiently listened to my entire story, asked detailed questions about the timeline, repeated the necessary tests, and went even further by carefully numbing specific nerves around the crown to isolate the source of the pain. He was finally able to confirm that I DID in fact need a root canal.

I actually teared up when he told me because after seeing three doctors and being told it might not even be my tooth, I finally felt heard and reassured that I wasn’t imagining what I was feeling.

Dr. Phan thoroughly explained everything, helped manage my pain until treatment, explained what to expect afterward, and even made himself available by phone/text if I needed anything.

You don't normally walk into offices where you feel a team really working together, especially when their offices are separated by walls. But at Fife and Steffen Endodontics, you felt their passion to care and the warmness you would feel in a home.

Thank you, Dr. Phan and the entire Fife and Steffen team, for listening, validating what I was experiencing, and going the extra mile when I desperately needed someone to. After everything I went through, I am incredibly grateful that my fourth opinion led me here.

Doctor was competent , thoughtful and knowledgable . He answered my questions and did not talk down to me. He was late more than 30 minutes, but he immediately apologized. My only issue with the practice was that the front person communicated with patients on the phone and a lot of each conversation could be heard in the waiting area by all patients sitting there. Some conversations had to do with billing and disagreements and were not pleasant to listen to.

From the moment I walked into the office, everyone was friendly, professional, and genuinely caring. The staff made the entire process easy and stress-free.

What really stood out to me was Dr. Richards himself. During the surgery, he talked me through every step of what he was doing. Knowing what was happening made me feel much more comfortable, and he frequently checked in to make sure I was doing okay. His chairside manner is exceptional—calm, reassuring, and attentive.

Before the procedure, everything was explained clearly, including the costs. There were no surprises, and I found the pricing to be very reasonable. The team also made sure I left with clear instructions for caring for myself at home.

The recovery has honestly amazed me. Within about three hours of surgery, I was eating yogurt. By dinner, I was able to eat soft foods on the other side of my mouth without any issues. As I’m writing this the next day, I have absolutely no pain or discomfort.

If you need endodontic treatment, I would highly recommend Dr. Richards and his staff. They made what could have been a stressful experience surprisingly comfortable from start to finish.

Despite being a bit overly nervous - it is a dental office - my "fears" were put to rest when the process and procedure took place. Along the entire process, the professional and knowledgeable staff, kept me in the loop and let me know every part of the process and what was taking place. They may not know it, but they really put this "nervous Nellie" into a state of calmness; and, I appreciated it.

The only reason this is not a 5-star was the lack of communication from anyone about the one-hour wait to be treated (my 10am appointment became an 11:05am appointment). However, they were apologetic for making me feel like they forgot about me. It's all good now - my toothache is gone and I am oh so relieved they were the team that helped!! Nicely done!

My dentist referred me to Fife and Steffen Endodontics and it was a good option to review what was going on with one of my molars. Dr. Richards on their staff was provided to me and he explained everything that was going on with the xrays and scans they took of my mouth. He also did sensitivity testing by applying temperature and tapping on each molar. I was a bit hesitant of getting a root canal so I wanted to weigh out the options. I wanted to save the tooth and not have to go thru extraction. I asked questions and he explained the process nicely. I had an exceptional experience with Dr. Richards and his team at Fife & Steffen Endodontics.
I came in with a molar (#30) that had been causing me pain for over a year, and I was honestly nervous because another dentist had given me a completely inflated and unnecessary treatment plan. I’m so glad I trusted my instincts and came here instead.

Dr. Richards was incredibly thorough, respectful, and calm throughout the entire process. He took a CBCT scan so he could clearly see all the roots and canals, explained everything in simple terms, and made sure I fully understood my options. The root canal itself was done under a microscope, and he took the time needed to do it correctly — no rushing, no cutting corners. You can tell he takes genuine pride in his work.

What really stood out to me was the level of care afterward. He personally texted me a few hours later to check on my pain and make sure I was doing okay. I’ve never had a specialist follow up like that, and it meant a lot. Even later the same day, I’m already feeling so much better and relieved.

Overall, this was by far the best endodontic experience I’ve ever had.
If you want an honest, skilled, and compassionate specialist who actually cares about the outcome, I highly recommend Dr. Richards and this office.

Let's be real, no one gets excited about a root canal. Just hearing the phrase used to make my stomach drop. But after finally having the procedure done, I can honestly say it was far better than I ever imagined.
From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel completely at ease. They explained everything clearly, answered my (many) questions, and never rushed me. Dr Steffen was incredibly skilled, gentle, precise, and somehow made a process that’s notoriously dreaded feel... well, manageable. I won’t go so far as to say it was “fun,” but I was genuinely surprised by how little discomfort I felt, both during and after.
What impressed me most was how modern the entire procedure felt. It was quick, clean, and efficient. It’s not the kind of appointment you look forward to, but if you have to get a root canal (and sometimes you do), this is the kind of experience you hope for.

I haven't even been to this place yet, but their customer service is already a huge win! I'm not sure who I talked to, but the woman was incredible. So, I'll start with this - if ALL Root Canals were done the way Fife & Steffen does it, there would be literally NO stigma about it all. No fear at all. These guys are very, very skilled at what they do. Everything from the front desk (and how you are treated so well), to the office itself (which is decorated amazingly and gives you this sense of calm) is a class act. I'm 50 yrs old and I have never had an experience like this. Everyone makes you feel at home, the doctor talks you through the procedure, gives his recommendations and even the Post-Op is GREAT :) They stand by their work and Dr. Steffen did a phenomenal job!!! I've even told some of my friends to fly into Vegas just to get the procedure done by these guys. Yup. That good. Thank you F&S for saving me from my pain and keeping me pain free!!!

I first went to Dr Fife for #15 tooth pain. My dentist had crowned it the previous year, but I had pain ever since. Dr. Fife drilled through it took care of the roots and then sent me back to my dentist for the permanent filling. I waited a few weeks and I’ve been pain free ever since. The procedure was so much better than it was 20 years ago, it was done very quickly and not too uncomfortable (my jaw tends to get very sore from having to have my mouth open for too long and going through Dental work). Everyone in the office were absolutely wonderful from the front desk (Yadira) to the assistant (Rosalie) to Dr. Fife and to check out (Julie). Then I had to go back in the next month for #31. That was another tooth that I had been in pain with for years, even after it was crowned by a different dentist, which I never thought the job was done correctly to begin with. But Dr Fife fixed me all up again and although I had a little bit of irritation pain from that tooth for a little while, it’s fine now and I’m finally pain-free in my mouth. Hopefully, I won’t have any other issues for a while! Plus, everything was covered by my United healthcare HMO plan. I highly recommend Fife & Steffen Endodontics!

I don't know many people who would be thrilled to share that they had a root canal, but my experience at Fife & Steffen Endodontics changed that. I originally had a root canal done in 2020, but it was failing—a situation I had never encountered before. When faced with the option of extraction, I immediately sought alternative solutions and was referred to Fife & Steffen for potential retreatment.

They were fantastic! They got me in almost immediately and were incredibly helpful throughout the process. They took the time to present various options, explain what had happened, and outline the treatment choices available. I later learned that some of the options didn’t even involve them, which speaks volumes about their commitment to patient care over earnings.

While I hope to never need another root canal, if I do, I will definitely return to Fife & Steffen!

I recently had my first-ever root canal done at Dr. Fife and Steffen’s office. Both my wife and cousin have been treated by Dr. Fife and had great experiences, so I felt confident choosing them to help me with my root canal.

One of the things I really appreciated was how convenient their scheduling is. They offer early morning appointments, which meant I didn’t have to take time off from work. It made the whole experience much easier to fit into my busy schedule. Also, I didn’t have to wait at all—I was seen right away, which was a huge relief.

Naturally, I was a bit nervous going in, but the staff was very friendly and made sure I felt comfortable from the moment I walked in. Dr. Steffen took the time to explain the procedure in detail, which really helped ease my nerves.

Dr. Steffen was very gentle throughout the procedure, and it went way faster than I had anticipated. They also use the best imaging technology to get a detailed view of your tooth, which made me feel confident that they were able to resolve the issue no problem. During the procedure, I felt zero discomfort. I was completely numb, and the whole process was far more comfortable than I had expected. The office was clean and modern, and the staff really went out of their way to make sure I was at ease throughout the visit.

Now that it’s all over, I’m relieved to have it behind me, and my tooth feels great! I would definitely recommend Fife & Steffen Endodontics to anyone, especially if it’s your first root canal. Both Dr. Fife and Dr. Steffen are awesome!

Been to a lot of dentists in my life to know that Dr David Fife is an asset to the Nevada community. Loved Dr David Fife. He had a great calm friendly vibe. A breath of fresh air in dentistry. 23 years in Nevada he was prolly the second dentist I liked. He was very experienced I could tell. Songs from the 80’s were my gage. He was quick, caring, took car of 2 root canals in 30 minutes with the right amount of anesthesia and distraction pressure to offset the discomfort. He explained what was happening at every step. I did not feel a thing just a bit of pressure with my mouth agape.

I was referred by Smooth Dentistry. It’s a breath of fresh air to go to an experienced dentist who knows what to do. He even text me the same evening to check on me from his personal phone. Not many doctors do that. Something that makes me feel it’s personalized care. I appreciate that gesture.

His staff was wonderful. Gal assistant was on top of her prep forsure. I complimented her. There was no fake small talk or ‘plans to bump me with a bill’ or ‘care contingent on going with a long drawn 2 year payment plan’ as I have experienced in some other dentists I’ve been to in Nevada. At Fife everything was real and focus was to tc of the problem. So yes, a big thank you Dr Fife.
