Greeted at the front desk. Smooth check in. Got brought to the back where I was taken into a room and asked some questions. The woman who assisted at this time was wonderful. Good conversation. Easy going attitude. Beautiful aura and professional. Then she took me to a waiting room to get an X-ray. After I got that done, I went back into the room. Dr. Song got right to it. Very professional. Asked me questions. And then advised me to get the injection. It seemed he assumed I just knew that meant I’d be getting it done right then and there. And so when he’s like I mean we can schedule it for another time. So I’m like okay we can do it now. Like I’m obviously nervous and just agreeing. I read my office notes, and although he let me know about the injection and option of surgery with possibility of occurrence. He did let me know too to keep the wrap on for two days. But in the office notes its states I was advised to not do strenuous activities for two days and that he informed me of the possible side effects of the injection. When I was told only about the wrap and of the injection but no information about it. I just knew he’d be draining the cyst and I’m just hoping it stops the pain. Idk. but now I know what questions to ask. I’m learning. I guess I get intimidated. I’ve had surgery before and so I’m trying this. And I’m just glad to be establishing care. The visit did what it needed to do. The last woman I met, she was accommodating and I can’t thank her enough. She made my exit way less complicated.The office is nice. My husband and I were very pleased with Dr. song’s calm, kind demeanor and knowledgeable diagnosis of my mallet finger situation. He explained that no surgery will be needed and that mallet finger is very treatable and usually successful. He said that both of my little fingers have a little nodule of arthritis on the top joint. I went to Dr. Song because I had had such good experiences with Dr. Miao at Desert Orthopedic for my knee and shoulder in years past. Before I saw Dr. Song I saw another doctor who said I had to have a surgery. He didn’t even look at my finger closely. When I said I didn’t want surgery he stood up, leaned in the door, and said well I won’t see you again then. I said you’re not going to splint my finger? He told his female assistant to give me a splint. She gave me a splint sold on Amazon that fit my thumb, not my little finger. I told the assistant that I was NOT happy with my appointment because he didn’t even make a custom splint for my finger and he was super rude. She recommended that I go to a nearby physical therapy office. She called them and I went straight there. The very nice man who worked there made two custom slits And explained in detail how important it was for me to wear it 24/7 And then I would need to wear it for 6 to 12 weeks. I appreciate him so much.
And now I am so happy to be under the care of Dr. Song for my finger.

Dr song is extremely experienced as he determined that my hand condition was not at all related to my hand but likely the result of other causes and suggested I immediately go to the ER where they determined I had a minor stroke that cased caused the problem. Doctor Song was very easy to talk to and quite personable. I love this office because everything is right there. I walked down the hall for a hand X-ray and walked back to the doctor, who immediately showed me the picture, made a diagnosis, and gave me an injection. No issues with the doctor or the staff. They were knowledgeable and friendly enough but I do have an issue with their billing practice. They told me I had to pay them a $250 deductible which I did, but it turns out, I in fact do not have a deductible for a specialist visit. I was only supposed to pay a 20% coinsurance after my insurance paid their part. Now I have to wait and hopefully get a refund. I should’ve just told them to bill me…

Miracle Workers!

I recently started having pain in my right hand. I also experienced tingling in a few fingers. The pain was bad enough that it woke me up many nights.

I am a 73-year-old fingersyle guitarist. My hands are my life. I called Desert Orthopedic Center. They got me in pretty quickly with Dr. Song.

His people took a comprehensive history and multiple x-rays. Dr. Song quickly diagnosed my problems as arthritis and carpal tunnel.

He laid out a treatment plan and gave me a steroid shot to temporarily reduce the pain from the arthritis and a prescribed a splint to wear at night to help the carpal tunnel. He also had another plan if the splint didn’t offer lasting relief.

I walked out of the office pain free for the first time in weeks. I was also confident that Dr. Song and his team would help with additional care in the long term.

I had the same primary care physician for over 40 years. I have set the bar for physicians very high. Dr. Song is a real healer! He was pleasant, thorough and a real confidence builder. His care was nothing short of amazing!

I consulted Desert Orthopaedic Center hand surgeon Dr Walter Song for multiple trigger fingers in my left hand. He performed trigger finger release surgery on all 4 fingers. I am currently 17 days post-op and expect a good result but only time will tell. I need to do exercises to restore full range of motion of my fingers and my ability to fully flex all my fingers and clench my fist. I was very satisfied with their outpatient surgery center, the nursing staff and the anesthesiologist. I recommend Dr Song and Desert Orthopaedic Center.

Not impressed….. the only good thing they got me in early because of cancellations. 400.00 dollars later and the Doctor Song was rushing me didn’t care about my symptoms. I searched for several months for a facility that could service all of my orthopedic needs in one location, and Desert Orthopedic is JUST THAT! I do not ever feel rushed in my time with my doctors, and they all are specialists in their area of treatment. I see a doctor for my elbow, my knee and now my hand with Dr. Song. I have been through one elbow surgery and 3 months of physical therapy and am NEVER afraid of going to be seen, because I know I am in great hands!

When I went in to see Dr. Song for my first visit, I was sharing my symptoms with him and he asked me if I wanted him to tell me what the issue was, and of course I said yes, and at that moment, he showed me the xray of my hand and knew precisely what my pain was from, gave me ALL of my treatment options for short and long term results. He gave me options, and my most favorite part of my visit was, him pulling a cortisone shot out for me (that was my choice of treatment)!!! It's like, he ALREADY knew what his patient needed and he was already informed and prepared to treat me BEFORE he came into the exam room!!! Yesterday was my second visit to this place, first time the visit with Dr.Song was less than 5 minutes. I figured ok I need to get this test done and something else. Follow up
Appointment was yesterday regarding my results again the appointment was less than 5 minutes, I was told I need to see a different specialist for something else. And yes you have this, and I was told to hold on a minute.
Dr. Song left the room and never came back in. 45 minutes later waiting in the room literally everyone forgot all about me. Never got to ask questions about my condition, but assuming the DR. Will Come back in the room.
Appointment was at 1:45 didn’t leave the facility till 3:22 to for less than 5 minutes with the DR. Song. Very disappointed. Maybe a 3rd time is a charm.

Came in for severe osteoarthritis in both thumbs , one thumb tendon and two trigger fingers. Doctor explained my situation and surgery was a part of it. The other option was cortisone injections. Excellent care. Short wait times. In and out with xrays, diagnosis and treatment plan in an hour. Went in for one condition and found out I had two. The doctors assistant did most everything. Saw him for maybe 10 min.

I broke/fractured my hand about about a month and a half ago. I was referred to dr Walter from my primary doctor just for this “dr” to tell me he can’t do nothing... he told me that my hand has healed wrong and that it would be tough to correct/straighten my bones, saying he would need to rebrake my hand.He told me to let it heal incorrect and come see him in a month hmm that don’t make no sense????!!!!. He didn’t even Offer to do the surgery nothing pretty much saying I have to live with the rest of my life with my hand messed up. Note am only 24 and I have a son to provide for I work hard for a living and use my hands for everything in everyday life. I don’t recommend this doctor at all people become doctors to help people if not help why else be a doctor give up you position to somebody who actually cares.

Dr. Song at Desert Orthopedic took numerous x-rays of trigger fingers and still missed his aim on both hands. Cortisone shots hurt and didn't stop fingers from locking up.
