I wanted to reach out and thank the team at Academic Dermatology for the wonderful care I received this month. I had a growth on my forearm that had been there for several months. It recently started to become painful, and since I was leaving for vacation to Hawaii in five days, I was very concerned about getting it checked quickly. I called nine different facilities, and no one could see me before my vacation except Academic Dermatology in Henderson.

Their kind and knowledgeable staff scheduled me to see Dr. Samlaska just two days later. Dr. Samlaska was wonderful — professional, caring, and thorough. He is an outstanding doctor who truly knows his stuff! He knew immediately, just by looking at my arm, what it was and that it needed to be removed that same day.

I truly appreciated how quickly the staff got me in and the excellent care I received. I can’t thank them enough and highly recommend Academic Dermatology for their 5-star service.

I had such an incredible experience here today. It was my very first time coming into the office and I came in for a skin check. I was treated so well and everyone was so welcoming and professional. I left feeling very cared for I left feeling supported and I was given very good information to make sure that I can take care of myself, but also what to look out for. I felt this was such a change and difference in the healthcare system they made me restore my faith about the healthcare in Nevada and I would recommend them to anyone and everyone that needs to get skin checks or diagnosis or even treatments.

I would not recommend Dr. Samlaska based on my experience.

I initially saw him for a procedure on my finger that was not fully resolved. Within a few days, the area became more inflamed, and when I attempted to follow up, I was told I couldn’t be seen due to insurance. I ended up going to the emergency room instead, which was extremely frustrating and avoidable.

I returned months later for acne, skin texture, and post-acne hyperpigmentation. I clearly explained what had and had not worked for my skin, including better results with a different retinoid. That feedback was dismissed, and he insisted on sticking to his own assessment without considering my actual results. The interaction felt dismissive and somewhat defensive rather than collaborative.

I also felt my concerns were minimized because they were more cosmetic in nature. While my skin may appear generally healthy, I am looking for a dermatologist who pays attention to detail and is willing to treat texture, breakouts, and hyperpigmentation seriously—not just more traditional medical concerns.

Overall, I did not feel heard, and the care felt rigid and outdated. I would recommend finding a dermatologist who is more open to patient input and aligned with modern, cosmetic-focused skin care.

I went in as a new patient and saw PA Andrew Rackman, who was incredibly attentive and kind throughout my visit. He took the time to thoroughly explain everything, answered all of my questions, and never made me feel rushed. I truly felt that he cared about helping me resolve my issue rather than just treating me like another appointment. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I would highly recommend Academic Dermatology of Nevada.

Dr Samlaska has taken care of myself and my kids for numerous things and has done a wonderful job! He always gives great care! The office is also nice.
