When a company handles a tough situation the right way. 👏

On 3/6 I had an unexpected day off and figured I’d try to knock out an eye appointment if anyone could squeeze me in. Most optometrists are closed on weekends, and I didn’t want to roll the dice with a big box store since I rarely get a great prescription from those places. I chose this office because their Eastern location is only about 10 minutes from my house, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally get it done.

I called and the guy who answered the phone wasn’t exactly thrilled about someone asking for a same-day squeeze-in (which I get), but he checked the schedule and managed to find a spot for me mid-afternoon. Already a win.

Side note: I had no idea there were two locations. I found Dr. Brooker on my provider list, Googled the phone number, and everything pointed me toward the Eastern office.

So I show up, walk in, and Andrea (I apologize if that’s not exactly right, I’m absolutely terrible with names) lets me know my appointment is actually at their other location over near Charleston and the 215.

And this is where the story could have easily gone sideways… but didn’t.

I’ll be honest, I have zero filter sometimes. My first reaction involved an F-bomb and a couple very audible frustration comments. Instead of taking it personally (because it really wasn’t directed at her), Andrea stayed calm and immediately said something along the lines of, “You know what, if you can get to the other office, we’ll make it happen.”

No attitude. No “you’ll have to reschedule.” Just problem solving.

Turns out their scheduler hadn’t mentioned there were two offices or clarified that my appointment was at the Charleston location. Easy mistake, but it could have derailed the whole afternoon.

So I jumped back in the car and made a beeline across town right as Friday Vegas rush hour decided to show up and do its thing.

To make things even better, Andrea actually called me while I was driving and said as long as I made it there by 4:00 they would still take care of me so I didn’t have to drive like a maniac stressing about traffic. That alone took a huge weight off my shoulders because anyone who lives here knows… Vegas traffic at that hour can turn a 15-minute drive into an adventure.

I finally pulled into the Charleston location, which by the way is in a great shopping center, popped in and met Sonja at the front desk. I told her I was already in the shopping center and if anything opened up before 4 just let me know.

Her response?“Wow, you got here quick. We can actually get you in right now.”

Music to my ears.

Then I met Dr. Brooker and the experience got even better. He was incredibly laid back, took the time to explain everything he was doing, and honestly gave the most thorough explanation of my vision and prescription that I’ve ever gotten from an optometrist. No rushing, no talking over my head, just straight up clear explanations.

And as a bonus, I got to see a giant digital image of my eyeball up on the screen during the exam the whole time… which was both fascinating and slightly hilarious. 🤣

The entire staff took a situation where a lot of businesses would have simply said “Sorry, wrong location, you’ll need to reschedule,” and instead went out of their way to make it work.

And they did all of that even though the first word out of my mouth when I realized the mix-up was an F-bomb.

That level of patience and customer service says a lot.

Huge thank you to Andrea, Sonja, Dr. Brooker, and the rest of the team. You all turned what could have been a frustrating afternoon into a great experience and absolutely earned my business.

I’ll see you all on 4/7 for my follow-up. At the Eastern location 🤣🤣🤣

Dr Brooker was smart, welcoming and genuinely kind.
He listened and worked to figure out what is going on with my eyes. Dr. Brooker made me feel heard and gave me real answers and a plan moving forward.
And I will just say this… he is not too bad on the eyes either, which definitely doesn’t hurt!🤣
If you are on the fence just go make that appointment. great care/great service.

I've been coming here for last 8 yrs and I'm pleased with this doctor. He is very kind and knows what he is doing. Told him I had irritation in my eyes after looking at a screen all day. He knew right away what it was. Give me some eye drops and it helped a lot. I highly recommend Advanced Vision to any one.

I don’t know how these people gave him so many stars. I went for my contact lenses exam on Sept 30, 2025. After my exam, I waited three weeks till late Oct for my contact lenses (they told me I had to wait only a week when I first got my examination) only to discover they were the wrong brand (I needed acuvue hydraluxe but they gave me a different one - my preference was clearly communicated and agreed to by the doctor).

I was told the issue would be corrected, but when the replacement lenses arrived—after another two-week wait—they were the wrong prescription!! So now it’s mid-November and I have the right brand, but incorrect prescription.

I was then instructed to return to the office in person, bring back the incorrect lenses, and pick up the correct ones. First of all, I shouldn’t have to go pick up the item when my inconvenience was caused by the office’s repeated errors. Nevertheless, I went there - at this point all I wanted was to get my contact lenses. But when I arrived, the office was unexpectedly closed with no prior notice, and there was only a paper note on the door. This is late November already, and I needed the lenses for international travel a few days after.

this is unacceptable customer service. I had let the receptionist know that I would pick up my contact lenses early that week over the phone, and then you still close your door? Without notice?? Not even a call, email or hour change on Google beforehand?

This series of mistakes—wrong brand, wrong prescription, extended delays, lack of communication and sloppy services - falls far below acceptable standards of patient care and is extremely unprofessional.

Additionally, I repeatedly requested my receipt for FSA reimbursement, and despite multiple calls and emails, it took one full month for your office to provide a basic document.

I hope the office could make this right - this is really unacceptable.

If I could rate them at 0 I would. This is the worst place you can go if you care about your vision. Do not put your vision in the hands of Dr. Brooker. My daughter had been using the wrong prescription for two years and now has complications, thanks to Dr. Brooker. My daughter has been suffering these past two years from severe headaches, dizziness, and eyes twitching all because of the incompetent people at this clinic and their doctor. If you are a patient at this clinic, have your vision checked by another doctor so you don't end up with an incorrect prescription like the one they gave my daughter. Do not let incompetent people like the ones at this office damage your vision. These people do not care about their patients or the complaints one may have. I sent them a formal complaint and to this date they have not responded to me. I will never return to this place again.

Hands down the best Optometrist I've ever met. If you want to speak to an expert about contact lenses, Dr. Brooker is the person to see hands down. All my life I stood away from contact because I have too much discomfort from dry eyes and before I know it my eyes veins are popping and eyes are bloodshot red. So I purchased glasses to avoid that but I decided to try out Advanced Vision because I live 2 minutes away and man I am impressed. On my first visit, Dr. Brooker took his time to know me and my needs for vision care thoroughly. I explained to him how much contacts bother me so he checked everything that was happening to my eyes and determined a solution. For years I refused to wear contacts and for over 15 years I was skeptical that anything could ever fix my eye dryness and irritation but I decided to give the treatment a shot this year and WOW my mind is blown. At first I felt like something was still wrong when using my trial lenses but when I used the 2 different treatments as prescribed my eyes began feel as if no contacts had ever been placed in my eyes. ALL redness or swollen reactions are gone now. I see clearer with my contacts than any glasses I've ever had and even forget I have them on some days. I was lucky enough to have qualified for an additional treatment that allow my eyes to stay lubricated more often via my own natural tears. I do feel like my eyes are more watery but it is great for this Vegas heat that dries everything it touches. Bottom line is that Dr.Brooker and staff are hands down the best place to invest in your eye care. I like to say you get what you pay for. Since my experience I have brought my wife and 2 children here for contact care and are all very happy with our results. Thank you for all your hard work Dr.Brooker and Staff!

Called to receive a copy of my prescription. I was put on hold immediately and patiently waited. I asked to receive a copy of my prescription via e-mail (a simple request) and she never sent it to me. Now they don't open until 9am Tuesday morning when I needed it this week. I would strongly suggest not coming here If you care to see, they let me go a whole year with the wrong prescription. It has been horrible for me not being able to see for the past year. Then I found a new doctor this year and he is amazing and my prescription from this doctor was completely off, no wonder I can't see. Will never come back here ever again. Waste of time, My eyesight is worse. Glasses are so messed up that I left them there. I was advised that I needed an antibiotic (eye drops) and they would deliver it to my home, my copay was $40.00+...too expensive and who doesn't call it in to a pharmacy? very suspicious. So I called the office for an oral antibiotic. Ive asked three times but No call in OR a call back. Then a week later I received a bill for the glasses, $6,000.00!! I went directly to the office that is only open 3days a week, Tuesday thru Thursday. Showed them my bill that I Already paid for, they had No answer!
I Never received ANY paperwork on my condition or diagnosis. Numerous calls with an attempt for a resolution but no call back. And of course they've already been paid by my insurance. I feel like I've been Scammed. My family physician suggested I go to another eye doctor but I can't unless I pay out of pocket, since my insurance Only Allowed so much towards my vision Care. SS/limited income will take too long to save up, So I guess I'll go Blind:(

BEWARE: BAIT, GOUGE, AND UPSELL. I bought a Groupon for $59 for an eye exam. I thought the exam included a detailed examination of the inner eye. Not. I had to pay $39 extra for that as soon as I walked in the door. Dr. Booker discovered blepharitis, a common infection of the eyelid. Dr. Booker charged me $185 for the examination he did for the blepharitis and some OTC medicines. He did not tell me I could cure the disease on my own using a simple procedure, baby shampoo, and a topical OTC antibiotic. When I left, I FELT I WAS ROBBED. Notice they have you pay the $39 for the inner eye exam upfront seemingly in hope you will forget about it when they hit you with the huge charge before you leave. In addition, it has been nearly 3 weeks and they still have not given me a detailed list of the charges.

I have been going to Advance Vision Institute for over 8 years now. Due to the pandemic and other issues, I hadn't been able to get in for an examination. I finally had one for today @ 4:30PM. Received call on way to appointment saying 4:10 appt has been cxld. I still went to location and the made up time of 4:10 pm was repeated again by the same rep from phone conversation, till the receptionist who made my appointment verified it was for 4:30PM. Really disappointed and rescheduled appointment along with appointment time written down. Representative at S Eastern location had a sarcastic attitude not usually presented by Advanced Vision Institute. Hope this one time incident with unprofessional attitude does not reoccur and I am able to continue as long time client of Advance Vision Institute. I wonder how many other patients she's "convinced" their appointment was for.a different time.

İ was supposed to have an appointment on Thursday, my first bad experience was when someone called to confirm my appointment. "I'm calling to confirm your appointment for Thursday at such and such a time"
İ said"OK" "Thank you, have a good day." Click.
İ spoke 2 words. My husband had an appointment right after me, i was hoping to confirm his appointment too.
İ called back, someone else answered. İ let them know what happened. "I'm sorry, i can confirm, thank you for calling, have a good day." İ was almost hung up on again, i had to interrupt before she said goodbye, and let her know i have other questions. İ asked for the copay amount, was told. Let them know my husband had 2 insurances, and should not have a copay. İ was told no to you need to pay. İ said no, i will cancel the appointment, for both of us.
There is a lot to be said about 2 different individuals, in the same office, that do not listen to the patients, and rush through simple tasks. We are your customers, we pay your wage. İ all not taking a chance to find out if this is the normal in this practice. You shouldn't either.

I have been lagging on this review. I bought a groupon and came here. If you're thinking of getting a Groupon for here, DON'T! I called and asked about extra costs before getting the groupon and got told one thing. When I arrived I was told another. They had extra costs which were not discussed on the phone and the amounts for the charges I was told on the phone were different than what I was told when I got there. I couldn't her ahold of groupon to complain and I couldn't leave a comment there because I didn't redeem the groupon. I hope someone else reads this before going through the same thing. 😣

On March 15th 2019 I went to Advanced Vision Institute on Eastern with my fiance for an eye exam I had scheduled just a day or two before. We arrived early and went into the office expecting to fill out paperwork as it was my first time there as a patient. My fiance had an appointment there in 2017.

The lady at the front desk was friendly and professional, took my information. That's when things became odd. She then informs me that there's a $39 MANDITORY eye imaging test that isn't covered by my insurance. I said no because I wasn't informed of this when I called to schedule the appointment. She then says, okay how about I charge you $20 for it, and again I say no. She then says, okay, but we will need to dilate your pupils. I also refuse that because of past experience with it causing crippling headaches. After the doctor sees me (he was helpful, and pleasant), I go to look at frames and couldn't find anything that I like. They ask me to come back the following week to look at new frames. I ask them to give me a copy of my new prescription, and we leave. The next day I call them and ask them for one piece of info that was miising from my script. The P.D. (pupillary distance) was missing, and it's needed to order glasses. When I call them and ask for it, they tell me that they always charge $20 for that information. I asked them why, and they hung up on me. When I called back, the lady again says that's how we've always done things.

On March 21st 2019 my fiance had an appointment there as well, so I went along wanting to confront them with important information I had learned about them trying to charge for prescription info. We arrive at the office, and again, the lady behind the desk tells us about the $39 MANDITORY eye imaging test that isn't covered by our insurance. My fiance refused, and they said well we will dilate your pupils this time then, (but they never did).

I informed them that I found information from the Federal Trade Commission

(You can’t require patients to pay an extra fee, or buy eyeglasses or contact lenses in exchange for the prescription. You also can’t require a patient to make a purchase from you in order to get an eye exam).

I also told them that if they continued to ask for a fee in exchange for prescriptions, I would file a complaint with the FTC, the Nevada Board of Nevada Board of Optometry, and even the insurance company. It was then, and only then did another lady come in, and say “We will give you that measurement information today free of charge”. As if she was doing me a favor.

My concerns are, how long have they been telling people that there's a mandatory $39 test that isn't covered by insurance. Because we saw a total of 7 or 8 people come into the office between both visits we had, and every one of them was told the same thing we were, that their insurance didn't cover it, which I find odd to say the least. Secondly, how many people have paid their $20 fee for a piece of information they are supposed to provide when it's requested either in person or most likely after because, I would guess that most people are like me, I didn't know what a P.D. Number was until I needed it to order glasses online, or purchase them elsewhere, and then they were stuck when they called to get it until they paid the fee, which they aren't allowed to charge.

I feel as if they are taking advantage of people, and I won't allow them to do that to us. I wanted to make sure that others knew, what I didn't until now, to prevent this from happening again. Their billing practices are questionable, they try to get you to pay for things they never told you about, they charge for info they have to provide upon request. I most certainly won't return to this office again.

Dr. Brooker is the best optometrist in town. His knowledge is superior, he has impressive bedside manners, and his patience is endless. He is genuinely a very caring doctor. Your well being is his priority. I would recommend him to everybody without hesitation.

I purchased 2 very highend pairs of glasses in June, paid cash, no insurance. First off they didn't call to tell me the glasses were ready. After 3 weeks I called and they told me to come by. Once I got there I was told the case was in Summerlin. They said they would contact me when they had it and I could come pick up the case. They never called. Now the glasses have fallen apart. I called and left a voicemail. They never returned my call. So my husband called them 3 more times over the next week. FINALLY someone answered and told him that "Dave" is who handles broken glasses that he would be in later that day and call us. He never called... The next day we got a phone call where the caller said Dave would be in today and tomorrow (Wednesday) . For us to come by then. So I made time in my schedule to stop by the next day. And at 2pm on a Wednesday the entire building was boarded up and noone around. They reassured us that these glasses were covered under warranties and everything is covered. The Kate Spade sunglasses broke only 1 month later (screw fell out, ear piece fell off). This business is extremely unreliable and unorganized.

Drove back again today, for the 3rd time, stood there for 5 minutes without anyone acknowledging me. I finally asked for help and was told that the optical retailer was separate than the doctor area and no one was there to help me with my broken glasses. It was after 11:00AM! I explained the situation and that I have been there 3x now and the glasses still aren't fixed (just a missing screw). I was told that Dave would be there this afternoon - no specific time. I told her that I can not keep leaving work to drive there and that he won't return my calls to set an appointment. She told me that she can't help me and I had to come back when he was there. She assured me that Dave would call me this afternoon. It is now 1:15 and no one has called me. They could have at least given me a screw! Come on! I called LensCrafters and asked if they could replace the screw in my glasses EVEN THOUGH I PURCHASED THEM SOMEWHERE ELSE. They said yes, no charge, come on in. Are you serious? This place is a freaking joke.

The doctor is awesome! Beyond that, this has not been a great experience at all! Doctor told me that we may have to change my glasses several times to find the right prescription because my problem is so detailed, yet when the glasses came in and I couldn't see out of them because they weren't sitting on my face correctly they said they would send them back as a one-time courtesy?! If the doctor is telling me they may need to be changed several times how is the optical department telling me something different? Today I drove over to pick up my glasses, I had scratch them and actually had to use my warranty. Of course now they say they're no longer warranty because I used my warranty! I get here and there's a handwritten note on the door saying they'll be back at 1: 30! Nothing on their website about closing for lunch and I drove 45 minutes to get here and now I have to sit 45 minutes to wait for them. This office is not run professionally at all. I really feel like I got swindled here! After reading your other reviews it reminded me that Emi talked me into transition lenses even though I told her I had bad experience with him before she convinced me to just try them I did and I hated them and they took the transition off but kept the $150 they charge me for that service! And somebody tells you to try something it does make it kind of appear refundable!

The doctor is amazing! And very friendly. The staff, however, is a much different story. I chose a pair of Michaels Kors frames and I was "measured? For my glasses which were then sent to the lab. When I recieved them a week later, the lenses were sitting too low in the frames and I could only see if I tipped my head backwards. I went back and sent the frames in a secobd time and after 2 1/2 weeks and calling multiple times I finally received my glasses and they were unchanged. The optician EMI told me to just wear them and get used to them. I tried, but still couldn't see. So I called back later that day and was told EMI was with a patient and would call me back by the end of the day. Two days later when I had still not received a call back, I called and was told that she had read my messasge in the computer but was now on vacation, without ever calling back. I requested a call back by a different optician and Dave called me that same day and offered to wait at the office for me to bring my glasses back to him. After 2 1/2 weeks and several phone calls to the office being told my glasses were not back, I called the insurance company and was told the three office received my glasses 1 week ago. So I drove there and got my glasses and was treated so rudely by EMI, that I will never return there. Completely unacceptable behavior by the staff, which is unfortunate because the doctor is amazing!

This place is excellent!!! The staff here are unbelievabley friendly hospitable and treat their guests with the utmost professionalism I have ever encountered!! This place has the latest in vision technology to accurately assess your vision needs!! No more pressure check by blowing a puff of air into your eye, it's a little wand that reads the pressure of an eye without that horrible air puff or need to touch your eye at all.

This place take Medicaid and will always go the extra mile to accommodate their patients needs. I basically was new and didn't know how to present coverage proof, but that was no problem for the friendly optician who quickly solved my delema and set me right up.

The Doctor was super cool and gave me the most advanced diagnostic findings I have never even been privledged to see before. Armed with all the tech and knowledge about my eyes my vision was corrected to 20-20 in under an hour. I felt safe in an ultra clean environment and treated with the best possible service.

The office is equipt with a few fancy kurieg, bottled water, and fruit flavored beverages - comimentary. Huge comfortable lounge to hang out in style while you wait.

I felt instantly like family here at this practice. I won't go anywhere else ever again.

Some extra care was needed in filling my persription... I was asked politely if I could wait it out for a day or two so that I could be given the best possible coverage for my needs, I have no reason to complain while the optician used the extra time to go the extra mile to get me the best possible results for my needs.

Was referred here by the Concentra Urgent Care center. Came into town for a tradeshow and unexpectedly had a scratch in my eye causing pain and light sensitivity. (It was a reopening of a month old scratch that didn't heal properly from my doctors back home.) Dr Brooker was able to diagnose and ran a myriad of tests to make sure nothing else was damaged. They performed surgery on the spot and handled everything tremendously (at one point I started to pass out and the entire team jumped in and got me back to normal!). I was very happy that the entire staff was knowledgeable and well trained, Dr Brooker was very thorough with all tests and follow up. They were able to get my eye fixed and healing back to normal in no time! Very impressed and grateful that Advanced Vision Institute was able to help me with my scratched eye so I could get back to work and enjoy my short trip to Vegas. Thank you!

Run do not walk away from this place! it has been a few days over a month and still no glasses!

Nobody called me and when I called, nobody return my calls. When I finally spoke to the manager of the lab she said she would call me back in 30 minutes with some answers and...no call.

I did find out that they only ordered one pair of lenses for me ( I used my own frames) when I also ordered a second pair for sunglasses.

The doctor knows what he is doing but after the examine it is a complete FAIL.

Who can wait 5 weeks for glasses and after you prepaid for them?!

Great doctor! Very professional but I have been waiting weeks for my glasses. Yes they are a low prescription but when I pay over $300 I would like them as soon as possible. I call them almost every day and it's not even the office it's someone who takes a message and sends it on to the office. It is just getting a bit frustrating.

Worst experience EVER. Multiple trips because their inventory is poorly stocked and their staff was poorly prepared. Nothing but excuses from these people.
Update 22 May 2017 - Now they notify me that they are "discharging" me because of my "uncooperative attitude" - Going to file a complaint with the Nevada State Board of Optometry. See how Eric Brooker and his new clinic like that. Shame on you "Dr" Brooker.

I have a light sensitivity issue, which means I cannot do a standard exam. I was impressed with the patience and skills of the optometrist. The reading glasses I purchased were flattering and comfortable, and the prescription has worked well for me. The exam and glasses were moderately priced, but I saved 50% through a promotion.

Everyone was nice, informative, helpful n patient. I didn't have to wait long to be seen. Any concerns or questions I had were answered. Got my glasses in a week or less. They accepted my insurance. I have had such an outstanding experience with Dr. Brooker and his lovely staff (Cindy, Samantha, and Zaira) have all made this process so much more bearable with their patience, kindness, and willingness to work with me. Dr Brooker is one of the most thorough, patient and detailed people I have ever met. Not just Doctor's. Being a person who wanted to improve eyesight through Lasik technology, it was a process to get my eyes in position to benefit from the procedure. Dr Brooker delicately walked me through this process for several months. he was clear about all the benefits and more importantly risks associated.

Also something to note, personally I never felt and pressure from Dr Brooker and felt his sole purpose was to educate and guide me through the process of maintaining healthy eyes.

I am from out of town and arrived in Vegas the other night only to realize that I had entirely forgotten to pack my contacts. I called the Advanced Vision Institute in a panic, and asked if they might be able to provide me with a pair of contacts so I could drive to my appointments. After calling 3 other optometrists, I was so relieved to talk to the professionals at the Advanced Vision Institute who not only knew what they were talking about, but were also able to provide me the best care possible in the limited time I had.
