When I went in for my consult, I thought I would get an idea of the cost and then come back in a few months to proceed with treatment, but they made it easy to start right away and it was more affordable than I expected. They permanently messed up my teeth without apology. I went here for Invisalign, spending thousands at what I expected to be a top tier orthodontic office. But two things changed my mind and I now regret coming here:

1. An employee decided to shave a front tooth at a slant for no reason at all and now I have a gap at the front of my smile up top between two teeth. Did anyone ever apologize? No. Did they all try to gaslight me that no mistake was made and no gap exists? Yes. Yes they did. This gap makes me mad every time I see it in the mirror, and many times I’ve had people tell me I had something in my teeth mistaking the dark gap to be a seed or something. It’s so embarrassing. All that money I spent and I still try not to smile.

2. A different tooth on the opposite side would not move. Over 2 years was spent trying two different trays that pulled at two different directions and there wasn't the slightest movement. It was obvious after a few months in each tray that it wasn’t moving, it didn't need years. Not until there was mere weeks left on my availability in the contract to make changes without it costing more did Mr. C send me to an oral surgeon of his choosing to get an opinion. I went and the oral surgeon suggested 3 ways that it could be fixed as it was stuck to my jawbone from a blunt force hit to my face earlier, but all 3 would require my trays to be needed past the contract end. Unsurprisingly, when I went back in to see Mr. C to discuss the results, he lied and told me the oral surgeon told him that nothing could be done to fix it so my contract didn't need an extension. I bet had he sent me in a lot sooner to find out why it wasn’t moving he would have mentioned the 3 options to have it fixed. Imagine an oral surgeon saying there’s nothing that can be done to fix a problem with a tooth being stuck. Wouldn’t happen, didn’t happen.

It hurts my heart to post this review because Dr. C and the office staff have been truly wonderful but the lack of professionalism we’ve experienced from the billing department warrants a comment. The front and back office do not communicate which has resulted in failure to bill the correct insurance for over a year. Each time we have an appointment (which is at least monthly) they say nothing is needed and no payment is due. Meanwhile, they were billing old insurance and claims were being denied despite having provided updated information. This went on for over a year and now they want to charge interest and late fees. I’ve asked these fees be waived as a courtesy while the situation is sorted out which seemed like a reasonable compromise. They refused. Instead I get a call blaming us for not asking the right questions or talking to the right person when we come to the office. I don’t mind paying for services that are not covered by insurance, that’s the reality of our healthcare system. But I’d do not think the patient should pay late fees when the entire situation is the result of poor management and communication by their back office while they smile and say everything is fine from the front.

Dr. C is very thorough in assessment of concerns, detailed in explanations, knowledgeable, professional, yet very down to earth and upbeat in personality. They're great with scheduling and have always been good about getting me in quickly if there are any problems that arise. I visited a couple of orthodontists prior to choosing Dr. C and the Aloha staff and immediately felt at home with the choice. They treat both children and adults and have a diverse clientele. They explained the range of options thoroughly, had a book of pictures of those with a range of treatments to assist, and provided support, yet allowed me to make the decision that felt right for me (I ultimately went with the Invisaline). Treatment: I recently finished up my Invisalign treatment. It took a little longer than I initially anticipated, but that was because Dr C and I were continuously looking for ways to improve my smile and my bite. As things would shift, so would the plan, if that is what was best. He has a sense of vision to see where it is going, but is also aware of the commitment of me, the patient. While always considering what was going to be best for me, we were able to revise my treatment plan until it came out just perfect. I couldn't be happier with my smile and bite! :)

Dr C: This guy! :) He runs a tight ship and it shows. Every time I set foot in either of his practices, I was greeted with smiles and enthusiasm from him! I was never treated like "just another patient". (None of his patients are. Ever.) Even though he is always super busy and bouncing around between patients, I never felt I was an inconvenience or a burden. I was always the most important patient in the office. (The best part is that you can see that same effect on the faces of every single patient in there!)

Dr C's staff: PARTY!! ;) If you just need to go someplace to feel some positive energy because you are having a down day... Just stop in and say hi to these guys! This staff is always rocking! The music, their energy, the smiles, and the laughter is so infectious, you can't help but join in! Communication is essential in running such a tight ship and these guys have it down. As long as I actually listen to whatever they are telling me about my upcoming appointments, I am never caught off guard. They are great at answering any questions I have, rescheduling appointments if needed, and calling me whenever something needs to be adjusted. They make it clear that friendly professionalism is important to them and they operate under that standard consistently.

The office: Always clean. Always fun! Is there another dental office that, when you are lying back in the seat, you can enjoy a view of a tropical sky?? I think not! ;)

Aloha Orthodontics is an all around AWESOME experience. I think it's safe to say they only hire people that are awesome. :) Orthodontic treatment is a big deal, it's a big commitment, but Aloha Orthodontics will do everything they can to make it as pleasant, unsurprising, comfortable, and even an enjoyable process. And the smile at the end is the culmination of that care.
