I hate to provide a three star because I really like Joleen, Taylor and the hygienist, they are so sweet and efficient but this is rating is specifically for the service from the dentist. I'm not sure how he provided 5 star service to so many but with me was totally different experience. From lacking bedside manner, he was so short in communication and couldn't run away fast enough from the room, he would stand behind me when speaking to me and I had a short few sec to ask what i needed. When he did speak to me, he spoke in a condescending and arrogant manner....

I have had several root canals in my mouth in the past which I always ask the dentist to please numb me up well so I don't feel anything. I always get a minimum of 3 shots historically. This dentist gave me one shot and when I asked for more he said it should be enough and to raise my hand if I feel pain... WHAT!!! Needless to say I felt pain and had to raise my hand several times and guess what he had to give me more shots as I initially requested. I confronted him after about the numbing and he blew me off responding sarcastically. In addition, I obtained an infection as a result of this root canal, which I never had before. I had to call the next day in severe pain to get antibiotics prescribed.

I'm actually shocked and saddened about this treatment from him because I really like the rest of the staff and would have loved to stay but there is no way I can return to someone performing major work in my mouth with such neglect and disregard.

I went in yesterday for a filling & a cleaning. I have had this tooth filled before and I’ve never had an issue and I’ve also never felt the needle going into my cheek to numb my mouth. While my mouth was numb, I still felt that needle. I tried telling him this he responded with telling me not to lift up my arm, put my arm down and stop moving in the chair. He also has zero bedside manner. He can barely hide his disdain for his patients. I overheard him speaking to another patient in the next room, and she seemed very pleasant and was trying to have conversation, and he was barely speaking with her. If you are not a people person that’s fine, but don’t become a dentist where all you do all day is work with the public. Zero bedside manner, very rude, very arrogant. I also have a little bit of vertigo. I cannot help this. I cannot help that I cannot lie flat. I do my best. I go back as far as I can go without getting dizzy. It is not on the patient if you are not set up for that, I cannot imagine servicing the public and not coming across a situation, such as mine. Not everyone is going to be 100% healthy and can lie flat. The hygienist is very nice the front office staff, They are very nice as well, but even the hygienist seem to be complaining because the the tools she needed to rinse out my mouth, the wire did not stretch that far. How is that my fault? How is that on the patient? it shouldn’t be, you guys are the professionals , especially a doctor should know how to deal with this, not give the patient grief about it, be a professional and handle it, stop whining like a little girl. He is absolutely awful. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I have never had an issue my previous dentist on the southwest part of town never had an issue with my vertigo never complained never gave attitude and when he filled my tooth, I never felt a thing he was so good. I didn’t even know he numbed my mouth. He knew exactly what to do and exactly how to handle a nervous patient. I suggest this jerk go shadow my previous dentist, Dr. Todd Cressman, and take a lesson on how to treat people and how to be a professional no way am I going back here! If you don’t like people, and you don’t like dealing with them , go into a different profession because it shows, it comes off in this guy in waves! I also asked the hygienist about teeth whitening. She told me Dr.Ghim didn’t like doing teeth whitening & try the strips first. I have tried them previously, years ago, they are not a new thing. I have never heard of a dentist turning down a cosmetic service because,” he doesn’t like doing them.” He also doesn’t like people. This place is all bad, just weird, save yourself the headache & go elsewhere. I will now make the hour long drive to my former dentist. No problem!

I have been a patient at Black Mountain Dental for approximately 10 months now. I visited 2 other dentists before selecting Black Mountain. I found out that neither was in-network with MetLife, even though they alluded that they were. The front office is very friendly and helpful . So far, I've had two check-ups and cleanings with Cherry (dental hygienist) and a replacement crown by Dr. Ghim. Cherry is great! Friendly, efficient, and provides valuable suggestions. For example, she suggested a change in the way I floss my rear molars, which greatly reduced plaque buildup on those teeth. I am also very pleased with my crown. Dr. Ghim was very efficient and verified that I was comfortable throughout the entire process. I was surprised to find out that the office had a 3D printer/device to create the crown onsite. Instead of having to wait a week for my crown, the whole process was done in appropriately 45 minutes after the initial drilling was done. My out-of-pocket expenses were approximately 30% of the Dentists that were out-of-network.

The great experience starts as soon as you walk thorough the door and are greeted by the staff. They run a very efficient office so your wait time is minimal. Dr. Ghim has replaced a bridge in my mouth, installed a new crown and filled a cavity. Everything was done right the first time. In the case of the crown, Dr. Ghim has a machine in his office that can manufacture a new crown, while you wait. No taking a mold, send it out and then you go back to see if it fits. Definitely a time saver. I highly recommend his office for all your dental needs.
