Would not recommend Dr. Chad Hanson to anyone. He came highly recommended throughout the medical community, however he hands down has the worst bedside manner of any doctor I have come across. His staff/team are inefficient. I came in for my consultation and brought all of my extensive testing and all pertinent information. I had told his staff a minimum of 6 times between my visits with Dr. Hanson. His staff did absolutely nothing to obtain those records, despite having access and Dr. Hanson going to that hospital to operate. The “mandatory” X-ray prior to my actual consultation is a ridiculous money making technique desert ortho forces patients to do. With all the testing I brought in, there was absolutely no need for an X-ray. I attempted to decline the X-ray and was told if I did not do it, then I would not be seen.

With regard to my actual visits with Dr. Hanson, he treated me as a nuisance and could not have been more disinterested. Every single visit, Dr. Hansen did not know my mechanism of injury, despite it being documented by his medical assistants. He kept mentioning a different mechanism of injury and I continually had to correct him. Zero trust in a surgeon who knows absolutely nothing about how I sustained my injury and showed nothing but indifference towards that. My first visit, he was very apathetic about everything. He ordered additional testing of which other doctors and surgeons said was useless, as my other testing was much more sensitive to what Dr. Hanson was looking for, and was a time wasting technique. I told his staff EXACTLY where my insurance is contracted with for the imaging ordered. What did his staff do? Order the test to a radiology facility my insurance is not contracted with. When I called to tell his staff this, they sent out the order to more radiology facilities my insurance is not contracted with. My PCP had to get the prior authorization for the test and sent it to the contracted radiology facility. The level of incompetence from DOC is something I have not seen with other providers’ offices.

Then during another visit, Dr. Hanson spent the visit consumed with reading my past operative reports that I had to physically bring in because his incompetent staff failed repeatedly to obtain the records they have access to. Dr. Hanson told me he wanted to do surgery and certain things he wanted to do during surgery. He dismissed all of my questions and repeatedly told me to “look it up.”

His surgery scheduler came in to schedule my surgery and was incredibly pushy to schedule me at Desert Ortho’s surgery center instead of one of the hospitals he operates at and I am comfortable going to, given the extent of the surgery. Again, money making technique. Dr. Hanson losing out on hospital fees, when he could have done the surgery at his practice’s surgery center.

I left my last visit in tears and more confused than ever. Being told to look up the details of my surgery instead of taking the time to explain what he was planning to do is absolutely unacceptable behavior. I have heard from others this is not the first time Dr. Hanson has been rude to patients. I have heard from other doctors whom have been patients of Dr. Hanson that he has a terrible bedside manner, despite being a good surgeon. That instilled no faith in Dr. Hanson. It took another very reputable orthopedic surgeon sitting down with me during his free time, at no cost to me or my insurance, to explain everything Dr. Hanson wanted to do. Needless to say, I did not proceed with surgery with Dr. Hanson and sought out a secondary opinion.

I truly would give Dr. Hanson and his staff zero stars if I could. If he is too preoccupied with his triathlons, his work with the Raiders and some work with the Golden Knights, then don’t bother seeing patients in clinic. It was very clear during my visits he could not even be bothered with another clinic patient.

The interview began with an x-ray. The technician was buisness like and friendly. The nurse or physicians assistant next was quick thorough and engaging. My arm shoulder were tested and my experience was attended to. That was unusual. Dr Hanson next thereafter told me showed me what he saw.answered my questions, listened to my experience and talked with me about alternatives. I was happy. My only error was not talking with him about more pros and cons of this and that. Later there will be a fifth star as i become more functional.

I was referred to Dr Hanson for a painful shoulder. He listened to me, performed a physical examination and was able to zero in on the problem, offering a simple and effective solution.
I was delighted as I had not expected such a quick and effective outcome for a first visit.
I was so pleased that I asked if he could help me solve a problem with my leg.
Again, he listened then suggested running an imaging test to determine the cause.
In other words, Dr Hanson provided excellent care not for one but for two of my problems..

Very long Wait time in an exam room, waiting to see the doctor, waited over 40 minutes, when doctor arrived spent maybe 10 minutes with him before he he strongly suggested draining the fluid in my knee, he then sent in his nurse Megan to drain my knee she was amazing, very little pain and very quick.

I went 20 years without having anything done on my very bad knees due to my fear of surgery.It cost me in the long run it shot out my left hip and I had to have a total hip replacement. I had several people recommend Dr Hanson people I know and trust. I decided it was time to have my knees replaced by Dr Hanson and it was a great decision! Dr Hanson and his team did a great job on repairing my totally destroyed left knee. The after care has been very helpful and I would never had my knee surgery if not for the trust in Dr Hanson. When I complete my physical therapy I will get my other knee replacement as long as it is Dr Hanson !

I had ACL reconstruction with Dr. Hanson and his team in early July, and I can’t say enough about the entire experience. From the moment I met Dr. Hanson, I knew I was in great hands. He’s clearly skilled, but also efficient and confident in a way that put me at ease. His staff, from the schedulers to the surgical team, were equally fantastic and made the whole process smooth and well-coordinated.

Surgery day was seamless, and my recovery has been so much better than I expected. Pain has been minimal from the very beginning and I hardly needed the prescription pain medication. Swelling has stayed low, my range of motion is ahead of schedule, and I’ve been able to get back to daily life and even return to work far sooner than I imagined. I truly believe Dr. Hanson’s technique, along with the thorough pre-op and post-op guidance, made a huge difference in my recovery.

I’m now 6 weeks post-op, walking well, steadily regaining strength, and hitting my physical therapy milestones. I’m so grateful I chose to travel for this surgery. It was absolutely worth the drive to Henderson.

If you’re looking for a surgeon who combines technical skill with a supportive team and excellent results, I highly recommend Dr. Hanson.

From the moment I met Dr. Hanson, I knew I was in good hands. Both he and his nurse practitioner, Megan Martin, exude a rare combination of expertise, kindness, and genuine compassion. The entire care team is effortlessly cool...you truly feel like you’re meeting up with good friends when you walk into the office.

I was a little nervous about having hip surgery, but Dr. Hanson took the time to answer every question and put me at ease. Dr. Hanson, and his team, have guided me through some rough times over the past 15 years. Dr. Hanson won me over quick with non surgical approach to my painful torn Labrum. Then kept me working at a craft I loved through two amazing knee replacements. Suddenly stopping my rigorous activity to caretake caused a frozen shoulder but quick office appointment and immediate referral to PT upstairs stopped it in its tracks. I always feel like he guides me to the best care, his assistant Megan is extroadinary too. His staff insures all paperwork is handled with little stress. I haven't even touched on his resume. I came to Dr. Hanson with advanced cartilage damage and frequent knee dislocations. My first appointment (after traveling there from Mexico – and for the sole purpose of this appointment) was cancelled without notice—thankfully they squeezed me in later that day.

The PA, while helpful, contradicted herself by downplaying my symptoms after I clearly stated my knee was dislocating frequently. Dr. Hanson did not examine my knee and based his recommendation for surgery on MRI findings and my description. At the time, and based on his explanation of what was likely going on with my knee, I agreed it was the right choice.

However, after 1) a successful PRP injection, 2) a new PT discovering hip weakness and 3) an identical near dislocation on my “good” side, I questioned the need for surgery. My attempt to raise this via the patient portal (email, bullet points, clear) was dismissed, and I was told to book a new appointment for what was categorized as a “new” issue—even though it directly related to the knee instability. I wasn’t able to get in until days before the scheduled surgery; thus, I still had to go through pre-op procedures, including lab work. Upon arrival to the lab, I learned his office never sent the requisition. After several frustrating calls and emails, I had to go back to the lab for this the next day.

When I saw Dr. Hanson again, he listened, examined my knee, and recommended canceling the procedure. He also provided helpful guidance about future PRP treatments. I appreciated his integrity in updating his recommendation based on new information and helping me avoid an unnecessary procedure. I think he’s a very smart and capable surgeon. However, the communication issues and lack of follow-through from his office made the process much harder and drawn out than it needed to be.

I had a consultation with Dr Hanson for my hip. (this was my fourth consultation) and I was as very apprehensive … I was trying to find my perfect fit as I need a total hip replacement. Dr Hanson was very kind, warm and compassionate. Although, he did not do the kind of surgery I needed he provided me with so much information, listened and answered all of my questions.
He referred me to another Dr in the practice. (I was only interested in a Dr that was proficient in the “anterior” approach to surgery)
