I’m pregnant with twins. Was in the er and told I may have lost one of my babies, er doctor told me to get ahold of my high risk ASAP. they were super dismissive about seeing me earlier than my scheduled appointment in 3 weeks what is the point of seeing a high risk center if they aren’t gonna do anything? I feel completely let down and heart broken. I won’t be seeing this clinic at all they just lost a patient due to their lack of care and compassion.

Had an appointment here on 09/15. I checked in at my appointment time which was at 2:45. Tell me why my chart never made it up to ever get called I waited 50 minutes. I got up and asked the front desk what is going on. She did not know what to tell me instead she asked me if I was still waiting. I never saw her get up to go put my chart up like all the rest of the patients that checked in. Honestly I have to every desert perinatal clinic and this has never happened. She was more busy eating and listening to her music. Honestly worst receptionist ever. Drs were amazing.

tbh it's been over a year since this happened but now that I'm pregnant again the amount of hurt I still feel is really bothering me. my last scan of my pregnancy with them the tech directly told me she didn't normally work at this location and I had a lot of scans already so she was going to "do this quick" she spent less than 10 minutes on my ultrasound and proceeded to document my daughter had androconplasia and her limbs were measuring 6 weeks behind when no other scan showed that. that in itself was one thing but then while I was in monitoring following that dr golbani proceeded to tell me this news without even pulling the curtain shut behind him in front of other patients. it was mortifying. and then for a third strike I developed polyhydraminos and when my ob expressed concern to him he basically brushed it off and it ended up causing birth complications. I would never recommend this location as they're cold uncaring unprofessional and unreliable.

Everyone here was super nice but I am very sad and disappointed as a first time mom that when I went in for a fetal echo and anatomy scan, they didn’t save or send me actual pictures of the baby from the ultrasound. Professionals especially in this field should be sensitive to the idea that mothers want pictures of their precious babies. This should be a given and photos should always be given to mothers. Very disappointed.

For a high risk office the front desk staff have the worst attitudes in person and over the phone. No empathy, no manners, they seem miserable. They talk loudly and rudely about patients with other patients in the waiting room. The records department, the nurse.. they all talk to you with an attitude like you are inconveniencing their day. They need a zero tolerance policy for their employees not the patients. The staff talks so loudly you can hear their whole conversation about their boyfriends and personal life while getting your ultrasound. It’s like a break room not a high risk office. Are they not aware that some patients are receiving the worst news in one of those rooms while they blab on and on?? The most unprofessional staff I’ve encountered in a highly sensitive field.

DPA is lucky to have a provider like Rachel. I had a negative experience at the Henderson location with the doctor there, so went to the Fort Apache location instead. I was already nervous given that negative experience, which caused my BP to be elevated, which caused me to panic. Rachel’s kind demeanor and comfort meant so much to me. She took her time with me, didn’t dismiss me nor was cold like the other doctor. This is my first pregnancy and I have debilitating health anxiety, so having a provider like Rachel where I not only feel cared for but truly heard and understood, is priceless.

I never knew a Doctor, let alone an OBGYN that was as attentive, caring, and personable as Dr Paul Wilkes. His office, operations, staff, and the entire perinatal care and pregnancy experience was second to none.

During the entire high risk pregnancy we needed someone who didn't treat us like a number, but like family...and man.... selecting Desert Perinatal Associates paid off. We've experienced the numbers feel previously at earlier gynecologist & gynecology office locations, but when searching for a obgyn near me, then finding this obstetrician in Las Vegas, We couldnt have selected a better location.

Put it like this, I didnt tear up when my child was born, but I did when Dr Wilkes gave us a hug and I told him thank you for caring for us like he did during one of the most vulnerable moments of our lives....and this is coming from someone who has DJ'd 800+ weddings who though they knew what a special day was, a day and event you can never redo. A pregnancy though...the entire process from prenatal care, labor and delivery, childbirth and delivery...Wilkes literally made THE MOST vulnerable moment of our lives something special, enough to only consider another child only if he delivers, seriously.

This goes to say that although we had a doula who was great as well (and helped with postpartum), the efforts of this bragged about las vegas perinatal doctor Wilkes live up to the good words from personal experience.

My wife was fearing the epidural, the c-section (which she didnt have, in most part due to the experience of Wilkes and how the newborn delivery he carried out went), and labor and delivery.

Desert Perinatal & Dr Wilkes...I / We seriously can thank you enough, by far you're the best vegas obgyn and maternity care doctor we've every met. We will see you again soon!! =)

The ultrasound woman had such a weird vibe and nasty attitude when you ask her anything regarding your ultrasound. She rolled her eyes, laughed in mockery and kept wanting to be rude at every chance she gets. This was my first time at their facility and it just felt extremely uncomfortable dealing with this unprofessional ultrasound person with unprovoked aggression. I walked in there feeling happy about my pregnancy achieved through IVF after years of tears, I walked out feeling harassed and disrespected after the scan and afraid to ask anymore questions. This was supposed to be a professional medical facility where people had to pay a lot to come, but instead it is outdated and rundown. Not worth your hard earned money to go there. Book somewhere else.

Dr.Wilkes has been the most amazing obgyn I've ever had. This was my 4th pregnancy and I have never had prenatal care to this level. He stayed in communication the entire time. I had complications at the end of my pregnancy and he made sure he was there to deliver my baby. He made the right call on having me delivering early to make sure my baby and I were safe. He was wonderful with me and my family. He also prayed with my mom and mother law and they loved him. Dr.Wilkes is a wonderful person and doctor who truly cares. June 23 2025-Someone needs to have a conversation about the lack of compassion/empathy amongst front desk staff and appointment setters/people who answer calls. I can understand dealing with emotional, pregnant, women all day can't be easy. There is a dark cloud over these employees.

The billing department is wonderful they explain everything and offer options if you have large payments. Very kind.

Note for the doctors- don't stand in the doorway when going over ultrasound and important information. Even if it is nothing eventful or mentionable and everything looks good.

Ultrasound tech and nurse were great, but I was a little put off with my meeting with Dr. Akiyama. It was my first time meeting with her and she said that she was sure that I had gestational diabetes because I had put on too much weight and the baby was measuring too big. She assured me that baby’s growth would slow down once I fixed my diet and exercised more. I have gained ~30lbs in about 7.5 months, but my husband and I were both large babies and my diet/exercise has been pretty well rounded throughout the pregnancy. I had my glucose test about a week later, negative for gestational diabetes. Glad everything turned out okay but her approach stressed me out and I left that appointment feeling pretty worried.

I received referrals for DP/high risk from my OB, and this is the nearest location. My experience here has been terrible. Everything was fine until I requested an estimated bill prior to my visit, which turned out to be over $1000 for my first appointment due to my insurance having high deductibles. They refused to inform me about the procedure, stating it would be diagnostic and determined by the doctor at the time of the visit. I asked the receptionist how it feels to pay $1K upfront without knowing what you're getting into, and she mentioned that many patients are paying that amount when they come in. It's incredibly frustrating because I doubt a $20/hr receptionist can easily manage a $1K payment upfront for just one visit, especially with the possibility of multiple visits in the future. The tone was horrible and I had to cancel the appointment right away.
I then explored several high-risk facilities in town and discovered one that accepts my insurance, with a potential visit cost of $1,000. They provided details on two possible scans and a Doppler, along with estimates based on the week of my visit and how it would affect my deductibles. They went above and beyond to communicate with doctors and benefits coordinators, answering all my questions within a few hours. They also informed me that the machine they use differs from the one at the OB office, and they will check the finer details with more advanced equipment.
Initially, it was all about the cost, but then I realized the importance of customer service, especially when a provider goes the extra mile for clients who have doubts and concerns. In contrast, DP is absolutely terrible, blocking clients at the front door without proper training and lacking an understanding of how high-risk situations affect pregnant women. If the copay were $60, I might consider it, but for $1,000? I deserve much better service.

First things first, my OB sent in a referral. When you call, the medical assistants say “we receive them an put them in a pile ; first come first serve”

Another pregnant friend, white lady, that has the same OB as me got her referral processed the next day….but for some reason they haven’t received mine?

Then the OB referrals department called to see what the hold up was & Kendra hung up on her.

I’m saddened that in 2025, racism in healthcare is alive and thriving. And the sad part is, all Kendra will do is cry about white tears and deny deny deny deny.

These $20-$25 per hour medical assistants shouldn’t have this much unsupervised freedom. Nevertheless it shows this facilities quality assurance protocol is either lacking or non-existent.

When a lawsuit succumbs, and yes one will occur I hope the providers here really crack down on the employee unethical demeanor within their front/receiving office.

I absolutely love this place! I went here in 2023 when I was pregnant with my daughter, and EVERYONE is just so friendly and welcoming. I recently had an appointment here Friday and the lady that did my ultrasound was so so nice. Dr keeler was very nice as well and very caring. I love being in their care.

I went here for my pregnancy due to gestational diabetes. They were amazing, everyone was friendly. I had fetal monitoring twice a week. I would definitely recommend going here for your pregnancy.

This was the FIRST TIME I ever heard a doctor tell me that despite the information and recommendations their office was strongly suggesting…”you know your body and what is best for you”. I was shocked! I had so much informed consent when I asked my questions, I did NOT receive any attitude and negativity for making my decisions in-office for each service they were hoping to perform. This is my 6th baby and I am over 40. I really appreciated the entirety of my experience, the respect alone and the thorough answers to my questions, and the decision being MINE to make without any coercion…I highly recommend THIS SPECIFIC location on Ft. Apache near Russell.

Front lady was very rude to me as soon as I walked in. I asked where the bathroom was and she said “I’ll have to get up give me a second” and it wasn’t in a good tone it was as if she was very frustrated and irritated with me. I am 39 weeks pregnant I needed to use the restroom very badly. Very annoying experience.

Rachel, like everyone at Desert Perinatal Associates, is AMAZING. I really appreciated how she took the time to discuss all of my concerns. She is highly knowledgeable and I left feeling very prepared for my last 10 weeks of pregnancy. This facility is a true gem in Las Vegas, where it can be challenging to find great medical care. Just delivered my baby with Dr Wilkes 2 weeks ago. He was honestly perfect. He assured me at every visit throughout my pregnancy. He helped me feel better when I got a terrible cold during it. He helped me through my vomiting and nausea that carried into the second trimester. He was kind, professional, caring, and knowledgeable. I’m so grateful that on top of being at every single pregnancy visit, he also was able to deliver my baby. He guided my baby out with one push and knew just what the issue was the second he arrived to help my baby come out with ease. He made the entire experience worth while for my last baby. I can’t say enough good things about Dr Wilkes. He truly is a wonderful doctor.

Probably the most unprofessional office I’ve even been into. I’m not one to complain or be picky about medical providers but the entire staff seemed tense and off. The doctor dismissed my concerns by saying my baby was the size of a strawberry and wouldn’t be causing any cervix pressure despite my history. The doctor didn’t seem to fully understand English and seemed perplexed about my husbands simple question of if that was our last high risk abnormality scan. When I went to schedule my follow ups the doctor advised me the front desk had a completely different timeline and got short with me when I was confused about it. I tried to request a different doctor that I was specifically recommended to through their system and even though I have the insurance she requires they wouldn’t let me see her because my secondary is an open network and not contracted with any providers even when I asked for a cash pay price. The office staff wasn’t even willing to try the insurance I had to see if it would work (it would've per the insurance company) or talk to the doctor about my situation. The whole office has outdated ultrasounds. If you have a high risk pregnancy and you want to be taken care of and ensure you have all your concerns addressed, unfortunately this office is not the place.

This practice is extremely organized, I’ve never had an appointment canceled or rescheduled. I’m a nurse myself and can tell You first hand that healthcare in Las Vegas lacks quality. I appreciate Dr. Akiyama and her attention to my pregnancy. They do labs and NST testing in house. I would recommend to anyone looking for high-risk care.
