I've been a patient of Dr. Kim's for eight years. I never thought I'd be leaving an online review for a doctor and staff, but here I am. Investing in MDVIP with Dr. Kim and his staff was one of the best decisions I've made for my physical and mental health. In that time my experience in getting appointments, prescriptions, refills, or soothing my concerns over my nasty habit of googling symptoms was easy and fast. Every time. The annual physicals were thorough, and Dr. Kim was always transparent and direct with what my options were and when I needed to get serious about improving.

The office staff were incredible. They took all my calls with joy, always happy to talk with me, and took the time to explain things or provide more details when I asked.

Moving away from Las Vegas meant having to leave Dr. Kim and his staff, but of everything I miss since leaving, they are at the top of the list - right next to no state income tax and Mexican food. Mahalo for all the years of service

I am so pleased to have Dr. Sungwook Kim as my primary doctor.
He is calm and easy to talk to. I have been with him for at least 5 years and he has always been attentive to my needs. He listens and he encourages me to participate in my treatment. He just recently treated my heart burn problem which I thought was a heart problem. I am currently experiencing free of heart burn pains. He found a way for me to get Repatha shots at a minimal cost. In three months my cholesterol was down, HDL is up and LDL very low. I am so thankful for this. I always look forward to seeing him. He calms me down a lot.

Dr. Kim continues to be an excellent care giver. He makes you very comfortable and at ease when he talks to you . He does a very thorough annual physical exam . He makes himself accessible to his patients. He is very responsive to my needs. His staff are courteous , friendly and accommodating. I am so lucky yo have found him.

I had needed an appointment on same or next day due to infection from a dermatology procedure. Each time, I was able to see Dr. Kim who immediately took charge & ordered prescriptions for pickup that day. I am a Long-time patient of Dr. Kim's for the last 11 years or more. I have never met another Dr with such wonderful bedside manners. He always makes you feel welcomed, comfortable and takes his time with you. Always listens and ensures you understand all information. He goes above and beyond! Dr Kim is hands down the best Dr I’ve ever known. I’ve been going to him for about 12 years and he has always had my best interest at heart. From minor issues to recently finding cancer. I only recently began seeing Dr. Kim. Although I know people who have loved seeing Concierge doctors, this is my maiden experience with that business model. So far, I'm thrilled to be seen on time (not 30-45 minutes after the scheduled appointment time) and to be able to communicate directly with my doctor (versus leaving a voice message for an M.A.).

I've just completed the on-boarding process which was, if I recall, three visits. Each time, I found Dr. Kim's staff to be very friendly as well as professional and competent. This process also included the most extensive physical I've ever had from a primary care doctor.

I've used the patient portal three times to ask Dr. Kim questions. In the first case, I emailed him very late in the day. When I checked the following day, he had replied. In the second case, he replied within an hour or two. In the third case, he phoned me! HE phoned me, not his M.A. relaying information secondhand.

The parking lot is easy to get in to and there is a lot of parking. It's an easy lot to navigate.

When researching Brighton Family Medical on-line, I noticed that all of his patients and former patients gave him 4 and 5 star reviews except those who were unhappy that he joined a Concierge practice. They all said they were very happy with Dr. Kim until he decided to become a Concierge doctor; that's why there are so many low scores: they are mad about his new business model and unwilling to pay. My 70-year-old husband recently thought he had shingles yet his PCP couldn't see him for 10 days, forcing him to go to Urgent Care. This example is very typical of the state of medical care in our country today and is why more and more people are moving to Concierge doctors. So far, I've found it to be well worth the money. After all, my time has value. Doesn't yours?

Dr. Kim discovered my heart condition and was able to get me in to the chief of cardiology at my hospital. All this within the hour. I eventually was sent to an anti arrhythmia specialist and had 5 heart procedures over the next two years, so I feel like he saved my life.
He is very friendly, happy and makes you feel like he is glad you are in his office so he can help you with your medical needs. I never feel rushed when I’m at an appointment and I leave there with information and my questions answered. I have other specialists that I have to see from time, but he is the only one of my doctors that sees me and treats me as a whole person. He’s very good at following what is going on with all my conditions when I need to see a specialist.
My entire family really like Dr. Kim as a person and as a physician. I make sacrifices to be a part of his concierge medical practice, so please don’t increase your price for the membership anytime soon.

Dr. Kim , based on my limited experience with him, seems like a fine doctor. The problem is with his staff. Try getting them to follow up on multiple requests for services they're charged to perform is a monumental waste of time. In addition, If you have the temerity to insist on a typical request be fulfilled, you get unbelievable attitude.

One has to wonder how this can abuse can continue before Dr. K intercedes?!.

It's very disappointing when the person ( PCP) you depend upon when your sick or hurt. Isn't interested in helping you when you need it most. So if your looking for a Dr who might help you. This is your guy but if you're looking for a Dr that you need to help you. Then keep on looking bc he won't.

I am not typically one to give a bad review, especially since I understand that things happen, but I did not feel that I was treated very well and somehow all of the blame was put on me.

I was under the impression that my appointment was set up for 1:45 pm (since I wrote it in my planner and had put it into my phone calendar for that time). I didn't receive any sort of confirmation email, text, or phone call confirming the time, so naturally I went off what I had written down. As I am driving to the appointment I decide to give them a call to confirm that my appointment was at 1:45. I was then informed that my appointment was at 1:30 and that I would have to reschedule for two weeks out. There is usually a 10 minute grace window for different things that come up so I asked if I should still come since I was several minutes away and was told there was no way to get me in since they were fully booked (this would have been understandable if I was running super late but 10 minutes should be doable in my opinion). I then told the receptionist that I was frustrated with the fact that I never received any sort of email, text, or phone call to confirm anything with me. She then responded with a very rude tone of voice saying that any sort of confirmation is 100% courtesy and that it was all on me to keep track of when my appointment is (Which I did attempt to keep track as I mentioned earlier in the review). I really don't think it is too much to ask for a confirmation of some sort for an appointment. I have two other appointments this week with the dentist and optometrist and both of them have sent me two different confirmations.

PS. I am sure that the Doctors here are great at what they do, all I expect is that I get one confirmation of some sort and some better customer service when a situation like this arrives (even if it wasn't possible to get me in today it would have been nice to have received some sympathy for the situation rather than being told all of it was my fault.)

Hopefully Brighton Family Medicine looks at this review and decides to invest in a cheap automatic text system that will send out confirmations for them. In this day and age it is less of a courtesy and more of an expectation.
