Unfortunately, I can no longer give this office the five-star rating I once would have.

I had more than $1,000 worth of dental work scheduled and took an entire day off from work specifically for the appointment. Less than an hour before my scheduled time, I received a call informing me that a piece of equipment necessary for my treatment was not working. I was then told that the office had actually known about the equipment issue since the previous business day but had been assured by the repair technician that it would be operational in time for my appointment.

I understand that equipment failures happen and that some circumstances are outside of an office’s control. What disappointed me was how the situation was handled. There was very little acknowledgment of the significant inconvenience caused by notifying me at the last minute, particularly after I had already taken an entire day off from work.

I rearranged my day accordingly. Later, I received another call from Kim informing me that the equipment was now working and that I could come in after all. By that point, however, I had already reorganized my entire day based on their cancellation. I explained that I was not willing to rearrange everything a second time and asked that the dentist contact me so we could discuss what had happened and, at minimum, acknowledge the inconvenience. I never received that call.

Despite this experience, I have always liked Lisa very much as a dentist, which is why I contacted the office again today to schedule a routine cleaning. During that call, I was advised that because it had been more than six months since my last cleaning, there was a possibility I could be charged for a deeper cleaning if they determined one was necessary. It has not even been a year since my last cleaning.

I understand that different types of cleanings may be clinically appropriate depending on a patient’s periodontal health. My concern is the way this was presented and the possibility of arriving for what I believed was a routine cleaning only to face an unexpected additional charge. Given my previous experience with the office, this did very little to restore my confidence.

What is most disappointing is that my concerns are not primarily about the dentistry itself. I liked my dentist and had been willing to return even after the first scheduling experience. My concerns are about communication, accountability, consideration for a patient’s time, and transparency regarding potential charges.

Trust is extremely important when choosing a dental provider. Unfortunately, after these experiences, I no longer have the level of trust in this office that I once did, and I cannot continue to give it a five-star rating.

I’ve had nothing but quick and pleasant experiences here at Essential Dental. Kim is very friendly and welcoming. Dr. Lam is incredibly gentle, thorough and knowledgeable. I had a couple of fillings done here and I barely felt a thing. I did not feel rushed at all, in stark contrast to some dental practices which feel like an assembly line of “get them in and out”. On that note, my actual procedures were quick and painless. The practice is sparkling clean and comfortable. I look forward to my visits! 🦷 ✨

5/15/2025: Dr. Lam was excellent, and so was her assistant, Kim! I was there for the first time to get a routine checkup and cleaning. Dr. Lam took the time to explain everything clearly and when it came to cleaning, she did a phenomenal job! To be precise, she spent a good amount of time cleaning my teeth, doing a thorough job, and without pain! Furthermore, she and her assistant were very professional and personable. It is also important to note that I was there on time, and I was called in within 2 minutes. My wife is also a Dr. Lam's patient, and she shares my sentiments. We are happy we have found her!

5/27/2025 - My dental implant (which I got done 3 years ago at a different location) was loose and needed to be removed and put back. It was difficult to remove. However, Dr. Lam took her time, carefully removed to not damage the screw, cleaned, put it back, re-bonded, and took an X-ray to ensure everything was fine. She did the bite test and re-polished the tooth. Her work was exceptional. It took much longer than expected, but she was patient and never made me feel rushed. Thank you, Dr. Lam, and Kim (her assistant) for your exceptional job!

8/6/2025 - Both Doctor Lam and Kim are superb professionals and sweet, kind individuals! I had to come back several times this summer due to my implant issues. I was treated with excellent care each and every time I was there. They also spent a lot of time finding appropriate orthodontists and coordinating with them for my treatment. I can't say enough wonderful things about Essential Dental!

*****THE BEST DENTIST IN LAS VEGAS***** Dr Lam is so patient caring and understanding!! she listens well and is very good at what she does!! I was in so much pain and needed an emergency root canal the night before, the pain was so bad that I went to the Emergency Dental that is open after hours, get there just to find out they don’t take insurance plans and I would pay $5300. I ended up calling a number and the person on the phone told me an office could take me at 10am tomorrow! As bad as the pain was I needed to cry myself to sleep!! The next day Kim called me and she was such an Angel she told me that they got my information and I needed to be seen right, I immediately said yes please get me in asap. When I arrived they treated me so well the root canal was painless. Dr Lam will talk with you throughout the procedure to ensure you don’t feel any pain at all. She was so awesome that I scheduled my children with her as well and my daughter who is so nervous when it comes to the dentist LOVE her as well. She said “mommy I love this dentist and I will come back for all my work and cleaning” thank you DR LAM AND KIMMMM you guys ROCK!!!!!

Dr. Lam is very knowledgeable and caring. She has very friendly bedside manner. Even though we don’t live in Vegas, she came highly recommended by my sister. So I figured, why not have Dr. Nguyen do a check up on my 9 and 11 year old son. My kids have been visiting our local dentist biannually for many years and she never mentioned any issues with their teeth. Dr. Nguyen did a very thorough cleaning and raised concerns about loss of enamel most like due to acidic foods. I wished I had gone to her sooner because once lost, it’s gone forever. She gave helpful advice and information on foods to stay away from. I’ll definitely bring my kids back for their dental needs whenever we are in Vegas.

My experience with Essential Dental was fantastic. I needed dental cleaning and repair of 2 fillings over 2 visits. Dr. Lam and her assistant Kim were able to accommodate me despite the short notice for both visits (the second visit with less than 24 hour notice).

The office is new, modern, and relatively peaceful. There is ample parking in front.

Dr. Lam personally performed the dental cleaning; she was quite meticulous and really took time to clean every single tooth (more so than any other dentist or dental hygienist I've encountered). She then noted that 2 fillings needed to be redone and added me to the schedule the following day.

On the following day, Dr. Lam and Kim did the fillings skillfully. I experienced essentially no pain with either the local anesthetic injection or with the drilling and repair of the fillings. Throughout the entire procedure, Dr. Lam frequently checked to make sure I was doing okay, that I wasn't hurting or uncomfortable.

After each visit, Dr. Lam and Kim also checked in on me the following day to make sure I had no problems from my procedures. I was pleasantly surprised; I don't recall this happening with my previous dentists.

I generally have trouble finding a dentist that I feel I can trust. I believe Dr. Lam is kind and skillful. I think she genuinely prioritizes her patient's best interest. Kim is also helpful and friendly. I trust them to take care of my future dental needs.

Dr. Lam is simply the best dentist. I would say I take care of my teeth pretty well, getting cleaning done every 6 months and regularly brushing/flossing the best I can. Dr. Lam took years of stains off between my teeth with just one cleaning! I didn’t even know that was possible. I’m very impressed with Dr. Lam. Also, my previous dentist would always use silver filling for my teeth. At Dr. Lam’s office, she only uses composite white filling, which provides a better match for your natural tooth color and which some people prefer to silver. Dr. Lam puts the well-being of her patients first. I entrust my whole family to her care. She cleaned all 4 of my kids’ teeth, age ranging from 2-9 years old. Dr. Lam was so gentle with them, they can’t wait to go back for their next cleaning. Dr. Lam’s office is well designed, welcoming and comfortable. There is plenty of parking, and the location is very convenient. If you are looking for a dentist whom you can trust and who puts your well-being first, you have found her! I highly recommend Dr. Lam.
