Yesterday was my first visit with Dr. Thacker, who has taken over Dr. Laurie Bloch’s practice. Having been Dr. Laurie’s patient for many years I was nervous about a new dentist. I have been a patient of Exceptional Dentistry since 2014. One of my crowns fell off (tooth #30). Dr Angelica Bustos did the initial consultation to see if the tooth could be saved, and it could not because part of the tooth had broken off in the crown. Dr Matthew Thacker proposed a plan to extract the tooth, add additional bone if necessary, put in an implant, and make a new crown. On Monday, November 3rd, Dr Thacker removed the tooth and grafted some bone to my gum. I will go back in a few months for the implant and then for the crown.

Dr Thacker extacted my tooth under local anesthesia and it was a very easy and painless experience. I have had other teeth extracted under twilight sedation and this was much faster and I was completely comfortable the entire time. I did not have to fast, and I did not have the groggy feeling and the after effects you can get with IV sedation.

Catherine at the front desk is very welcoming, responsive and accomodating. Krystal and Myles assisted during the procedure and I was made to feel very comfortable the whole time. Dr Thacker explained everything he was doing as he went along and kept asking if I was OK or if I needed a break.

I also get my teeth cleaned at Exceptional Dentistry and both Minette and Susan do an excellent job.

I highly recommend Dr Thacker, Dr Bustos and their team, and thank them for a very positive outcome and for providing personalized services for their patients.

This place used to be owned by an experienced and capable dentist, who described the procedures they would do in detail. Then they got sold. The new dentist described what they were doing (an overlay) as a little cap for my tooth to fix a small chip on one of my teeth. After A LOT drilling, half my tooth was gone. Since then I've had pain chewing in that spot (NEVER had pain there before). Also, one of the procedures I had been gearing up for as described by the original dentist was completely changed to one that seemed very pedestrian. Be aware, the exceptional left with the original dentist and the new owners are trying to pedal he le reputation with LOW experience and compétence.

Edited to add that after complaining about this, they sent a letter saying they will no longer provide me service. Do you promise not to make my teeth any worse?

A former neighbor recommended Dr Laurie at Exceptional Dentistry when I was looking for a new dentist. I know him to be knowledgeable and discerning so I called the practice. Prior to my initial appointment this Tuesday my interactions with the office were very friendly, informative and professional. At my initial appointment I was given a tour of the offices, explanations of all the equipment and introduced to all the staff. Dr Laurie had already reviewed the record of the recent experiences I had (all outstanding) with Dr Taylor Goggins, a prosthodontist in Colorado. This place really lives up to its name. My wife needed work done after damaging a tooth where a previous filling had failed and has severe anxiety with dentistry. Our intention was to just get her one broken tooth fixed here (based on the recommendation from a family member who had recently had a crown placed here, as well) and then to go to a less expensive dentist for everything else, but we won’t be going to any other dentist again. The level of professionalism and compassion showed to us here surpasses any other medical experiences I’ve had in my life. Dr. Kevin and Esmeralda were so patient with us, performing the most thorough dental exam that I’ve ever witnessed- taking into account respiration and sleeping habits, jaw orientation, previous pains and even previous emotional experiences with dentistry. The doctor even gave us the option of holding off on the scheduled dental work today to instead analyze potential TMJ issues so that there was no risk of having to remove and repeat the dental crown that was supposed to be fitted today (a doctor taking into account their patient’s finances???) The office is immaculate, the staff as a whole is extremely pleasant, and the level of care has been beyond exceptional. Undoubtedly, they are more expensive than some other dentists around town, but this appears to truly be a case of getting what you pay for. If you are in a position where you can pay a bit more for quality and you care about the things I’ve listed above, Exceptional Dentistry is a no-brainer.

I told them I hadn't had my teeth cleaned in a few years and got occasional bleeding when I flossed. They scolded me like a child the rest of my visit, refused to clean my teeth (that's what I thought my visit was for) and instead gave me a bill for about $1,400 for a deep clean where they'd have to roll my gums back. They also said I had a cavity with x-rays they took.

I went to another dentist in town, didn't mention my gums ever bleeding and said I got my teeth cleaned recently, they cleaned them for the normal price >$100 and said my teeth looked great.

Also, I showed the same x-rays from Dr Bloch to the new dentist and they said I didn't have any. I understand everyone's got bills to pay, but this felt very dirty.

My huband's 4-tooth bridge fell out on a Sunday afternoon. I left a message for Dr. Laurie, and the receptionist, Jamie, called back in less than 24 hours. Dr. Laurie fit my husband in on Monday at 11:00. One e-xray, some adhesive and some good advice for a plan to fix the situation followed. If you suffer from chronic migraines and headaches, please read this!!!
It’s been approximately a year since Dr. Laurie placed crowns and veneers on my teeth. I could not be happier with the outcome and receive compliments all the time! I needed crowns due to years of teeth grinding. Dr. Laurie suggested the use of tens to allow my jaw to relax.The tens was a one-time process completed in office. She used the tens data to build my orthodic appliance (night guard) so when the orthodic was in place while I slept, it kept my jaw aligned at the ideal position for relaxation. I have been suffering from debilitating migraines for twenty years. If I did not have a migraine, I woke up with a headache every day. Dr. Laurie told me this process could stop my migraines. Dr. Laurie was absolutely right! Since Dr. Laurie fitted my orthodic, I rarely get migraines and I have not had daily headaches. It’s amazing to live a quality life again with beautiful teeth! Dr. Laurie took my difficult case: years of teeth grinding which affected my upper front teeth causing shortening, discoloration and shattering. Three other dentists would not touch my case because they stated the grinding had caused too much enamel to wear off, fearing my teeth were too thin to crown. One dentist wanted to elongate my front teeth by performing oral surgery on my gums, cutting them back to expose more tooth. I thought that procedure would have been unsightly on front teeth. Dr. Laurie was very comfortable taking my case, extremely confident about the end result. She outlined her game plan and also identified that in addition to my grinding I have also been clenching my teeth over the years. This has caused muscles to push in my side upper teeth and alter my smile. Dr. Laurie suggested veneers on the side teeth to produce the balanced end result I wanted. I am so ecstatic with the four crowns and veneers she applied! Dr. Laurie is a perfectionist, professional and a sweet dentist! She uses high technology equipment in her office that I have never seen in any other dental office. Dr Laurie’s standards are so much higher than other dental offices, it would take me pages to detail all the services she offers!
LeAnne, Dental Assistant, is comforting and amazing. During the 12 hours I spent in the chair, LeAnne kept me calm with her little pat on the shoulder, reassuring voice and amusing conversation during down time.
Shauna, Dental Hygienist, is very sweet and did the most thorough cleaning I have had in 60 years! She spent an hour cleaning my teeth.
Joe explains treatment plans, options, handles finances and is Dr. Laurie’s right hand man. Joe is always professional and is so cheery, such a great guy! I just can’t say enough about all Dr. Laurie’s staff, they are all amazing!
Lastly, I want to mention the office, actually office isn’t the right word. It’s more like checking into the “Ritz Carlton” of dental offices. There are fresh cookies out, cool drinks, tea and coffee, and lip balm on trays. The restroom is gorgeous with a crystal decanter filled with mouthwash and a basket with rolled cloth towels. I was given a heavy one inch thick soft blanket to calm and comfort me during my four hour procedures. I was also given a state of the art NuCalm stress relief headset to use for my anxiety. So you may think all this sounds expensive? Dr. Laurie’s prices are in line with all my other dentists I have visited in the past. Go visit Dr. Laurie and Shauna, you will find you are home!
