I was referred to Kevin R. Sharif at Nevada Orthopedic and Spine Center. When I called to schedule, the receptionist informed me that they “don’t need business” and that there is a waiting period just to be approved as a patient. This was the first time I’ve ever heard of such a policy.

She went on to say that the doctor I was referred to “vets his patients to see if they’re worth his while.” That statement alone was enough for me to decide this was not the right place for my care. I believe a good doctor should welcome new patients with open arms, especially those in need of help not make them feel like they’re being judged as a number or statistic.

I value character in my healthcare providers, and unfortunately, what I heard here did not align with that. I called my referring doctor right away to find someone else who truly cares about patient well-being.

I have had two (2) surgeries (cervical and spine) in the last 3 months with this doctor. I have experienced nothing but excellent results from him and his staff. I do agree he is hard to schedule with but well worth the wait. He never has any problem answering my questions. I feel he is very professional. I love his energy, smile and character. I just completed my one year check-up for my spinal fusion. I found Dr. Sharif after suffering a spinal injury and searching for a spine surgeon for over a year and a half. The decision to have back surgery at the age of 34 is not an easy one. I saw multiple surgeons before Dr. Sharif and I was not comfortable with any of them. Dr. Sharif and his staff were welcoming from my first appointment. I left my consultation with Dr. Sharif knowing I had finally found the right surgeon for me. After suffering with severe nerve pain for over 2 Years I was so excited at the idea of finally being pain free. Dr. Sharif was extremely knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable. He spent as much time as needed to answer all my questions in the appointments leading up to my surgery. My surgery went smoothly and was great. Dr Sharif is amazing, he is skilled, compassionate, and very patient focused. This was my one year followup for ACDF surgery and I am amazed that I can do things like I am back in the Marines 30 years ago. Absolutely no pain, no numbness. My name's Niurka Baro I am a patient of Dr. KEVIN SHARIF. He performed a very complicated surgery on me, a cervical spinal disectomy and C5-C6 fusion, which was very successful. I am very grateful for having helped me feel a little better after having the surgery, but after several appointments with Dr. KEVIN SHARIF, 3 months after the surgery, I feel very disappointed with Dr. KEVIN SHARIF because I made 3 complaints to his work team for their poor work and mistreatment of patients and Dr. KEVIN SHARIF got upset and changed his previous generosity with me to defend his work team, also supporting the poor work that his team does and mistreatment of his patients. This is a lack of professional ethics on the part of Dr. KEVIN SHARIF and his work team because they are not really interested in the care of their patients. This surgery has permanent restrictions due to the type of work that each person performs and he told me that I was ready to do full duty without restrictions when it is not true because if I do very heavy forced labor repetitively for 8 hours a day the implant breaks and I have to undergo a second surgery to repair the damage due to his medical negligence for sending me to do full duty without restrictions knowing the type of work that I do, which is very heavy, because in several appointments I have let him know and before performing the surgery he put restrictions on me because he told me that I could not do that type of work because it worsens my medical condition and now after having had the surgery that I need more care and restrictions than before, I know that I must have permanent restrictions due to the laws of world medical sciences that he is denying me knowing the complications that I can have because of him, he does not know that I am a medical science professional graduated in 1989 in my native country of Cuba and I have a lot of knowledge as much or more than him and thanks to technology I continue studying through the Internet to update myself more because medical sciences have developed and advanced a lot. For these explanations I stop being your patient at my last appointment December 19, 2024 with Dr. KEVIN SHARIF and with all my rights as a patient and with my knowledge in professional medical sciences, I am going to seek a 2nd opinion with another specialist with much better professionalism who is truly interested in the care of his patients, I know that he will read everything I have written so that he knows that I am a patient with the same knowledge that he has but with more professional ethics than him. Below I leave you the permanent restrictions after cervical spinal disectomy and C5-C6 fusion surgery.WHAT CAN YOU NEVER DO AGAIN AFTER SPINAL FUSION?
Unless you have complications, there are very few things you will never be able to do after a spinal fusion. You probably should not perform powerlifting exercises after spinal fusion or any activity that puts extreme stresses on the spine. You may be restricted from certain physical labor jobs such as heavy lifting, repetitive lifting, twisting, or lower back bending. You should review any potential activity limitations with your spine surgeon before spinal fusion so you can weigh your benefits and risks."

Doctor Sharif and staff are awesome. I had a bad back fusion. After a year of the surgery, I was still in pain. Went back to the original surgeon and he said i was fine. Went to Dr. Sharif with same CT scan the previous doctor used to get a second opinion. Dr. Sharif told me the fusion was bad and there was a broken bolt. He put a full cage on me. It’s been under a year and I feel pretty good. With the first surgeon I had one checkup to pull the stitches. With Dr. Sharif I’ve had four all with X-rays. I can’t thank Dr. Sharif enough. If I didn’t get that second opinion I’d be in pain the rest of my life.

Dr.Sharif’s staff would not have him see me after I waited an hour and 40 minutes. They wanted more records from previous doctor in Oregon.
Second visit Dr. Sharif would only evaluate lumbar and told me I would have to make a second appointment to evaluate my upper back. Each MRI has $250.00 copay.

I met Dr Sharif last year November 2019 after making the decision myself that I needed to see a orthopedic surgeon. I didn’t have any idea what was wrong with me, but what I did know when something was serious wrong. I was missed diagnosed by a neurologist and I was told I had arthritis.
The first time meeting Dr Sharif my first impression was he genuinely care about the well-being of his patients. When I told him what was going on with me and the pain I was experiencing he gave me an idea of what it could be, but he needed to do further testing. I was experiencing pain across my neck, down my right arm, numbness and tingling in my left hand, pain in both my shoulder blades, and pain straight down my spine. My pain level was at a 10 every day all day and nothing gave me relief.
After my results came back from the Myelogram Dr Sharif confirmed what he expected. My C6–C7 was decompressing and not getting enough air and I was developing bone growth. After hearing that I could possibly have to have reconstructed surgery again to correct a surgery I had 10 years prior was devastating, but I was ready to start my healing process.
Dr Sharif wanted me to try injections too see if they would work to give me some relief. He wanted to tried another alternative, before doing surgery off the back. I ended up having my surgery May 27, 2020. I can say I’m not experiencing the pain like I was before my surgery.
I’m grateful to have met a doctor that listen to me took my concerns seriously and wanted nothing but to help get me some relief from all the pain I was having.

I have nothing but kind words and gratitude for Dr Sharif and his staff. He’s a wonderful surgeon who is extremely personable and takes the time to answer any and all of your questions. I was in pain for years with my back and it got to the point where I was having chronic sciatica pain in my leg daily. I was referred to Dr Sharif and after diagnosis I needed tlif surgery. I’m now 6 weeks post op and I am pain free. I’ve only had to take a couple of Tylenol after I passed the 4 week mark post op. I was scared of back surgery and worried about the complications, pain management, post op care and all the rest that comes with such a surgery. He has you covered from start to finish. They are all so thorough and accessible through the process of diagnosis thru post op. He really is a top notch surgeon and just a really nice and pleasant person.

After being referred to Dr. Sharif I read numerous reviews praising him for his thoroughness, genuine willingness to educate patients about their options, and his excellent surgical skills. I felt a huge sense of relief believing that I’d soon be meeting with a specialist that would undoubtedly be able to help me understand the source of my chronic pain and the options available to address my condition. My feelings of encouragement quickly grew when I received a call from Sandra to schedule an appointment. I excitedly returned her call and I was able to book an appointment with ease. I asked Sandra about filling out any paperwork prior to my appointment and she directed me to their website where I could fill out the new patient paperwork, fantastic! I called a couple of times leading up to my appointment and she promptly returned my call each and every time. My interactions with her made me feel confident that the 45 minute drive to Henderson would be well worth it (they have a location much closer to my home but because Dr. Sharif was so highly rated making the trip was a no brainer). The day of my appointment I arrived 30 minutes prior as instructed and was given a few additional simple forms to fill out. While checking in I notice a whiteboard with each doctors name on it and saw that Dr. Sharif’s column had a magnet indicating he was running on time (winning! I thought to myself). As my appointment time neared I patiently waited expecting to be called at any moment. 30 minutes past my appointment time… still sitting in the waiting room. I asked the girl who had given me my paper work and collected it once I had completed it, how much longer I could expect to be waiting, noting my appointment time had come and gone. I was told, “you’re next to be seen” … I asked what that meant in terms of how much longer I’d be sitting in the waiting room and was essential told that was a question with no answer. 1 hour past my appointment time (90 mins after arrival, I was preparing myself to eat the copay and walk out). Roughly 10 minutes later my name was finally called. I was taken to the room I’d be seen in and took a seat. Within minutes I was taken to get X-rays and then brought back to the exam room. I asked the woman who took my X-rays when I’d be seeing the doctor? The response I got was similar to the one I had been given in the waiting room. She added “back issues are usually complicated and can take more time to address.” okay? that must mean I’d be getting my adequate share of time with the Doctor. Bad assumption. The doctor quickly pointed out the problem area and described the visible differences that indicated this problem needed to be addressed. Immediately surgery was recommended as the only option to achieve relief. He quickly described the surgery and identified the name of the procedure. I was somewhat shocked to learn I was in worse shape than I had hoped. I attempted to ask a few clarifying questions. I couldn’t process the information quickly enough as he was already one foot out the door. I received maybe 10 minutes of his time and off he went. I left with a prescription for an anti inflammatory that will hopefully bring some relief and instructions to get an updated MRI. I spent more time with the X-ray tech than the doctor. Huge disappointment. By the time I got home, in an attempt to rid myself of the negativity I was feeling, I thought perhaps once the Dr. has the updated MRI images there will be more information to be given and I’ll get those fuzzy feelings that inspired so many patients to leave such stellar reviews. I will be returning to the practice however I will not be returning to the Henderson office and therefore will not be seeing Dr. Sharif again.

Before, during and after !! Dr. Sharif and his outstanding team couldn't possibly have been more attentive to my needs on, my road to recovery. I can honestly say though I was going through a painful time, the experience was pleasant and a success.

My back pain became debilitating and was referred to Dr. Sherif for evaluation and determined surgical intervention was needed. Henderson hospital was great from pre-op to discharge. For about 12 months I lived with daily pain from sciatica. The pain was manageable, but also a constant distraction, and limitations on what I could physically do.
I woke up one morning and the pain more than doubled. I felt crippled on a daily basis. I went to my primary doctor, DR. Fraga (awesome) and got a referral to Dr. Kevin Sharif. Dr. Sharif sent me out for an MRI. It showed a severe L4-L5 herniation.
Surgery was a must. Dr. Sharif and his office helped get everything set up.
I went in for the surgery at Henderson Hospital (Awesome) at 6am, and got home by 11:00am.
Dr. Sharif performed a Micro Discectomy.
To make a long story short, 3 months later I’m doing 25 mile mountain bike rides, playing spike ball, walking, with 0 pain!

As I've mentioned before, Dr. Kevin Sharif is great! I just left my second post operation appointment with him at Nevada Orthopedic & Spine in Henderson and it's truly unbelievable how much he's changed my life! My back was as bad as it gets with scoliosis & spinal stenosis among other things. I needed two extensive surgeries, the later being 12+ hours long. And now, less than 2 months after surgeries on April 30 & May 4, 2021 I can stand up straight, I can walk without a walker, and astonishingly, I am pain free! He has given me back a quality of life that I didn't think was possible. He is truly amazing and gifted. I've said this before and I will continue to do so, I highly recommend Dr. Sharif, his team, and the staff at Nevada Orthopedic and Spine to everyone. I had to have spinal fusion surgery. I had been putting it off for a while but when the pain in my back and numbness in my feet began to get worse I asked my PCP for a referral to Dr. Sharif. I had done some online research and decided he was the doctor I wanted to treat me. Boy, am I glad I did. I'm almost three months post-surgery so I'm still recovering but already the pain has been reduced dramatically and I can walk without my feet falling asleep after two minutes. Fantastic!

If you are not candidate for surgery , you are wasting his time . It was the worst doctor’s appointment ever . Waiting time over an hour in waiting room . Then inside, after the X Ray , I wait for him like 15-20 min more. When he arrived he didn’t introduce himself , only apologize for the delay. He was in a rush , took him 5 min to review x Ray and then barely look at my MRI. He said that I don’t need surgery and refer me to pain management, that is all. Thank you have a good day . I started with Dr. Sharif as a patient in May of 2018. He was very knowledgeable, and acted very quickly to my needs considering my pain. Everything was fine until it was time to schedule surgery. I left numerous messages for Sally the scheduler, and to date have NEVER received a call back. A year and some months later.

I wanted to believe that it was an honest mistake, so I scheduled my 12 year old to see him for her underlining condition. Which took place in May 8, 2020. The initial consultation was amazing and it was determined that we would go through with the surgery. I was told by Dr. Sharif to call the following week and speak with Sally to schedule the surgery. Well I did that, upon speaking with her, she said she would call me back that the doctor had NOT filled her in on my daughters case. So I waited patiently, never a call back so I called her and was told the same thing. Needless to say, it’s been exactly 3 months, numerous voicemails(she say is transcribe to visual voicemail) and no call backs.) Her pain hasn’t gotten better. Unacceptable

I will not discredit Dr. Sharif as I do feel he is an amazing doctor. However, he can’t make it happen alone. It is truly a team effort.
