Dr Thomas repaired my 91 year old mother’s torn meniscus and smoothed the osteoarthritis. The surgery went well and quickly. He called to check on her at seven o’clock in the evening. He has a wonderful personality with his patients, and everyone in the office is very nice and helpful.
The only criticism is the wait in the office prior to the appointments. Worth having the patience!

First of all I would like to say that Dr Donald Pennington is one of the best Orthopedic doctors in the Las Vegas valley. This review is not a direct reflection of him or any other Orthopedic doctors in this same complex. Also the Surgical Arts Center in this building is Tops! The Best! The Physical Therapy department in this same complex is a Joke! I went in for my first appointment and the assistant told showed me how to start the first exercise, then I didn’t see her again for 15 minutes. The place was not even busy, only a few people and she was in the back visiting with a co-worker. Then the doctor Jim came out, and I was impressed at first because he was very friendly but then he was more interested in showing me pictures of his new home in the Reno area than he was in treating me. In fact, he pretty much did nothing for me, then at the end, asked me to lay down on the table where I felt captive to more nonsense about how he landed this great job in Reno and he’s so excited about his move and new job. He was supposed to be checking me for knee motion, after no help or explanation during treatment, but then he got alerted that he had to go move his car. I said don’t worry we’ll do this some other time. Totally Worthless Appointment! I called and canceled all my future appointments.

Highly recommend Dr. Limtong. Great professionalism, knowledge, and compassion. Performed a left knee replacement surgery on my 73yo mother. She’s recovering extremely well and has not expressed pain unlike pre surgery. Hoping to go back to Dr. Limtong next year to do her right knee. 👍🏼

Wife had minor surgery 2 x from Dr Thomas and all went well.

We went in yesterday for a consult with Dr. Thomas, which went very well. The staff seemed very pleasant and easy to work with and waited about 10 minutes.
Beautiful office and facilities inside and out .

Jesus loves you

I've had several surgeries performed at Thomas, Pennington & Limtong Orthopedics & Sports Medicine facility (formerly Thomas & Bigler Knee & Shoulder Institute) for knee and shoulder surgeries. My most recent surgery was performed by Dr. Justin Limtong and I have to say he's very personable (with great bedside manners). I was totally impressed with how well he followed up with me after the surgery. I never found myself having to wait to speak with my doctor. My most recent surgery was to perform a full knee replacement. Both this surgery and previous shoulder surgery have increased the usage and functionality of my shoulder and knee. I have been able to work and exercise without any pain in those areas, basically improving my overall quality of life. It's nice to finally not to rely on braces or canes. Not only are the physicians, personable, but the whole staff is professional and friendly; not once did I find myself being put on hold while having to endure some terrible hold music (you know the type of music that increases your blood pressure). This orthopedics and sports facility not only has great Doctors and support staff, they additionally have an outstanding physical therapy team on site as well (please pass my props to Dr. James, Dr Russell, and Jill as well as all their staff; you all rock and were the difference in my quick recovery). I am 100% satisfied with the medical services provided by Thomas, Pennington and Limgton Orthopedics and Sports Medicine and would highly recommend them. With great physicians, an onsite surgical ward as well as on-site physical therapy service, you have access to the full range of Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.

5 stars for Dr Limtong, my 0 star is for Jim Schiemer RPT in physical therapy. Very condescending to my 87 year old mother. 1st visit great, 2nd visit Jim Schiemer RPT. asked where her instructions were. She did not bring the home instructions he gave her at 1st visit as she assumed he would have them himself. He also requested at 1st visit that she buy straps for lower back exercises. She bought them, brought them in with her and he asked her what did she want him to do with them. She reminded him that he asked her to buy them and he could show her how to use them. He literally leaned over got close to her face and said “2 MORE TIMES IS ALL YOU NEED HERE”. She came out of that visit frightened and afraid to go back to him. So she hasn’t canceled her pt appointments. Very condescending and very disrespectful.

Not a fan of this practice. I came here via a referral to get my shoulder check. They ask to do an x-ray, of which I provided, but said it wasn't what they want to see. At the end, it's the exact same thing, but of course, it's not free.

Every time I come, the wait is a good 90 minutes to 2 hours. I have no idea why even though it was an appointment to begin with, not a walk-in.

Lastly, they ask me to do an MRI to clearly see what's wrong with my shoulder, of which, I did. Then I have to go back again for the doctor to tell me in less than a minute what the issue was. The sad part is, the wait is 2 hours and the conversation with the doctor is basically one minute, something he could have easily just call to tell me. But going in helps them make more money. Could have easily save a patient's time and money with a 1 minute phone call.

I just think this practice is too greedy. The wait is crazy and they keep charging you for things you may not need. I'd recommend going elsewhere, my honest opinion. Won't be coming back. Even after insurance, they keep charging me more saying my insurance didn't cover certain things. If I knew that from the start, I wouldn't even do the MRI. Was told the insurance is covering everything except the deductible, turns out to not be the case.

I am very pleased with Dr. Justin Limtong's professionalism, knowledge and surgical skill. I went to see Dr. Limtong with some fairly severe hip pain. Dr. Limtong took the time to show me the x-ray of my deteriorating cartilage and explain all my options. I opted for a full hip replacement. I am now six weeks post surgery. The recovery, while not complete, has been entirely as anticipated with no surprises. I have been walking normally since week two. (I am 73 years old). Thank you Dr. Limtong.

If you have Anthem insurance and need hyaluronic acid injections in the knee for pain, I was told by both Carmen and Ashley they want their payments up front because of their policy they created because of issues trying to collect payments from Anthem. My husband was told they submitted a pre-approval, and it was denied, when in truth they lied because Carmen admitted because of their issues with Anthem they won't even bother to submit a pre-approval.
I spoke with a Benefit Representative, who said this office needs to submit the claim as a prescription because it's a medication he will need regularly and not as an outpatient service. Which I explained to both Carmen and Ashley, but regardless, they still want their payments up front. Their unwillingness to assist is just ridiculous. Find another doctor and administration to better help you.

Beatriz is the receptionist in today. Now, Beatrice is extremely condescending and rude and I’m sure because this is a Summerlin if you’re coming from North Las Vegas or the east side of town, you will be looked at as if you’re nothing and no one. If you come to this location be prepared to wait an hour in the waiting room and then another 30 minutes to be seen by the doctor and I the doctor will only be with you for two minutes if that. The only reason I did return here is because Dr. Bigler does know what he’s talking about. however, the office staff could care less about your time, you can sit here for hours upon hours and they would never care… they would just sip on their lattes and take a call in front of you. and think to themselves either you deal with it or you don’t.

My primary care Dr referred me to this clinic for a difficult health issue I’ve had going on for a little while. By the time this office finally called me back I had already been seen by another orthopaedic specialist 3 times and had an MRI and diagnosis. Actually their timing was somewhat convenient due to me personally wanting a second opinion on my condition. I called to make an appointment and asked if there was any availability for Fridays, which they explained the Dr was not available Fridays (still no issues yet). No problem I enjoy my Fridays off too. I made an appointment for a Thursday afternoon. Just a few days before my appointment the office called to let me know the Dr wasn’t available that day. I was a little disappointed, but we’re humans, things happen, so I rescheduled for the following Thursday. Today Monday 10/2/2023 the office called to cancel my appointment again that was scheduled 10/5/2023. When they asked to reschedule again I declined. I already requested with my work to take time off work both times, which is already difficult enough. Going forward I just can’t risk the chance of having another appointment canceled last minute. Beware when scheduling an appointment with the hip specialist there it could result in multiple cancellations.

I had both of my shoulders surgery done by doctor Bigler, my right shoulder one year ago and it's like new, no pain, full movement, recovering now from my left shoulder which was in a really bad condition and I can feel is going to be another successful recovery. God bless doctor Bigler and all the team that make it happen.

Dr. Thomas was not very informative as to what he was going to do to my knee and after my surgery I, I still had pain,
decided not to go to Las Vegas to see him again I was able to secure a doctor here in Mesquite Nevada that doctor is Dr. Todd Parry of which treated me with respect.

My wife had her complete knee replacement procedure performed here last March courtesy of Dr. Steven Thomas, a medical professional, which we are both convinced through our thorough independent research and desirable end results must be the foremost osteopathic knee and shoulder specialist in Las Vegas today
All surgery and other procedures are done on site at Thomas & Bigler's own surgery center. Their practice also houses their own rehab and pilates center to cover any needed follow up care by their patients.
I myself have begun the initial steps with Dr. Thomas to secure his expertise to repair my badly damaged right shoulder. I will follow-up as appropriate, with an edit to this review.

I've been having knee problems for a number of years and finally I had to do something about it. Saw Dr Thomas after testing and MRI .Surgery was the way to go to repair the damage . I am now 3 weeks after surgery and very very happy with the results and very happy with Dr Thomas and his staff. Everyone I have encountered has been very kind helpful and caring. I highly recommend this practice. MJ

The Knee & Shoulder Institute has gone downhill over the past couple of years. Extremely poor follow-up after MRI took numerous calls to get appt scheduled and when it was finally scheduled for the next Monday I get to the Office and they tell me its the next Monday. The follow-up appt to receive a lubrication shot in my shoulder has no gone into the 5 week waiting and I have call 2 different times and they tell me they are waiting for approve from insurance. So I called the insurance company today and find out they have not requested approval yet. NOT GOOD!!!! Dr. Thomas and Bigler need to take a look at their operation now.

Left knee went fine. Right knee not so much. Dr. Thomas refused to look at the MRI images and D.O. Puopolo refused to take a second look at the MRI. Seems like they’re just after your money and I would go somewhere else.

As active duty military for 24 years, I was an avid runner. After retiring and about 8 years later, I began to have serious knee pain and swelling of my entire leg. I went to the VA, but they kept making me wait. After a year of waiting with this excruciating pain I needed medication for, I asked for a referral to a local doctor. That’s how I ended up at the K&S Institute. Within 30 days Dr. Bigler performed a miracle. He cleaned up two massive meniscus tears, slipped knee cap, beginnings of arthritis, cleaned out some bone fragments, and repaired a muscle that had pulled away from the bone. After a few months of healing he followed with knee injections. I can’t say enough about Dr. Bigler, his staff, and the surgical team. I’d still be at the VA waiting and in the kind of pain that made me want to poke my own eye out with a fork, AND on strong medication.

I brought my son in to see Dr. Carr after a recommendation from an acquaintance. The facility is beautiful and conveniently located. All staff members were warm and friendly. We were brought back on time, my son had his x-rays taken immediately, and we did not have to wait at all to see the doctor. He immediately reviewed the x-rays and was very thorough with his exam and very friendly as well. Outstanding experience. Highly recommend.

Dr. Bigler is awesome. He takes his time to exam and explain everything. He reviews options and in my case recommended physical therapy over surgery. Not only saving me downtime but also a huge copay. Thanks from the bottom of my heart

Some hiccups with scheduling but still I'm giving 5 stars. Prior to 2019 had insurance that used SWMA. During 3 years SWMA diagnosis was I had arthritis so SWMA procedures were to give me cortisone shots. I stayed in pain & knew old injury was more than arthritis. 2019 changed to Humana using Heath Care Partners network. My primary Dr. Hou referred me to the Knee & Shoulder Institute. Dr. Thomas helped me with fixing an old injury that SWMA didn't THRU 3 years of their cortisone shots & telling me I had arthritis when actually I had tear in rotator cuff, bone spur, & damage of Labrum. Once I heal with this shoulder surgery then Dr. Thomas will work on my knee. I fell out of shower over 3 years & it's a shame that I had years of struggle & pain before finding better insurance & better doctors to fix my medical problems. I highly recommend Dr. Thomas, his staff & the Knee & Shoulder Institute.

No, no, and no after today’s visit wherein Dr. Thomas was highly condescending, I would not recommend him. Yes, I need surgery for a meniscus tear, however, I am not ready to proceed because of family obligations. I have two kids, I do it alone, so until summer break when I don’t have to be on the go constantly, I’m waiting. All I needed today was a handicapped application signed, which wouldn’t be approved by his office without an appointment, an appointment that I scheduled for 10:45 and exited at noon. Dr. Thomas proceeded to tell me the DMV may deny my application because I have a fixable problem and that other people are in pain as well.

One, I have real injuries doctor, plural, so it’s incorrect they would deny my application, and two, I’m quite aware other people have pain; my pain doesn’t diminish theirs or vice versa. Doctor, my left ankle was dislocated and broken last year, surgery performed and 9 screws later, it still hurts. I have an annular tear in a disc in my lumbar spine, for which no pain existed prior to a 75 year old woman taking a left in her auto directly in front of me. Then, there is the knee injury for which I sought consultation with you, when I slammed and twisted my right knee in the same car accident. Again, no pain existed prior, and my only request was a placard so that when I grocery shop, it doesn’t hurt so bad given walking hurts. Why am I made to feel guilty for utilizing something I need? I’m positive others have pain that exceeds mine, and I’m positive some with placards don’t suffer nearly as much pain as I do. There is zero wrong with me waiting for an optimal time to undergo surgery due to my family obligations, and given that my only remedy for pain is Ibuprofen 800, a damn placard is not too much to ask. I’m not a whiner, I didn’t even want to come in to see you until I’m ready for surgery, but I was required to make an office visit and pay my copay for the condescending lecture and signature. I do the best I can, but I will utilize things that are meant to assist me, which a placard surely does. Furthermore, some patients can’t afford your services, and have no choice but to wait. Will you lecture them as well if they ask for a signature. I meet the criteria 100% for a placard, it doesn’t say on the form if you are a surgical candidate, you are disqualified. I’ll get the placard from the back or ankle doctors in the future, not a big deal; thanks for the lecture.

For the record as well, your assistant is telling patients they can drive after surgery. Is that so, so I’ll just drive myself home, pick the kids up from school, whip up some dinner after I pick up a few groceries? Well no, she should be forthright, there is a period of recovery that as a mom I’ll be out of commission, which anyone knows without being told. Pain is an interesting thing as well doctor, I am durable and tough, but my body doesn’t do well immediately after surgery. Numbing agents don’t seem to work well on me, including nerve blocks, even novocaine. After my c-sections, I moved myself immediately because I was not numb. My point is after eight surgeries in my life, I’m now the expert on the level of pain I will endure for a few weeks, and how soon I’ll be bouncing around ready for mom duty, not an assistant who makes light of surgery.

This is without a doubt the worse experience I’ve ever had with any medical physician. Both customer service and doctor are just as bad .Visited the emergency room due to knee pain prior to visiting with doctor Thomas because he couldn’t get me in any sooner . Finally when he did get me in I waited for about an hour just for him to advise me not to run or jump (when I couldn’t even walk). A week later Less then an hour prior to my appointment I find out he needs to push it out a week .Meanwhile I am in crutches due to inflammation in my knee and can barely walk . I called around and got much better service and immediate attention . Patients beware to top it off the receptionist were not very nice or helpful.
