I've been coming to this dental office for a couple of years, but after today's visit, I won't be returning.
From the beginning of my appointment, I was surprised to find that the prices had increased. Since I'm self-pay and don't have dental insurance, I ended up paying more for my exam and X-rays than I had in the past. I paid without any issue, but then waited over an hour before I was finally seen.
The dentist told me I had periodontal disease in five back molars and recommended a deep cleaning costing around $2,000, along with fillings for three cavities. I decided to decline and get a second opinion because my teeth have always been healthy and I wanted to verify the diagnosis before committing to such an expensive treatment plan.
After that, the dentist left the room, and I waited another 30 minutes just to have my regular cleaning. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst cleanings I've ever had. The hygienist was very messy, and before she finished, another staff member came in and said he would complete the cleaning. He rushed through it, barely flossed my teeth, and the entire appointment felt incomplete.
I left feeling like my teeth weren't even properly cleaned. After being a patient here for years, this visit was extremely disappointing. Between the long wait times the expensive treatment recommendations, and the poor quality of the cleaning, I don't feel confident returning. I hope this was just an off day, but based on my experience, I'll be finding a new dentist.

I had the privilege of meeting her just a few days before Serve Day 2026, where she donated her time and expertise to help people in our community. I was fortunate enough to be one of those people, and I honestly left feeling incredibly grateful.

Dental care can be overwhelming, especially when you’re dealing with pain or financial stress. Dr. Jackson never made me feel judged or rushed. She treated me with kindness, compassion, and respect from the moment we met. She took the time to explain my dental needs, answered all of my questions, and made sure I understood my options. That meant more to me than she probably realizes.

I first met Dr. Jackson at another Modern Dentistry location after years of avoiding the dentist due to fear and anxiety. She was so gentle, patient, and positive that she immediately made me feel comfortable and confident about starting my treatment. When I found out she moved to Sahara Modern Dentistry, I knew I wanted to continue my care with her.

I came in for two crowns, two fillings, and a deep cleaning with Sierra. The entire team was attentive and caring. Dr. Jackson and Daishii
explained every step, made sure I knew what to expect, and helped me feel completely at ease. I experienced no pain, just normal pressure, and felt very well taken care of.

My crowns look amazing and completely natural they look like my own teeth! Sierra also did an incredible job with my deep cleaning. Years of stains between my teeth were removed, and my smile looked brighter and healthier than it had in years.

I normally love this practice but my last visit was not good at all. Too many techs running at me for different purposes and in huge hurries. I was scheduled for a deep cleaning: Dr was extraordinarily rough and only 25% of the job was done. She had to leave for an emergency but no one let me know for 45 minutes. I was completely deserted. I got up and left. My teeth and gums hurt for 48 hours where she worked. I'm thinking hard about going back to finish the treatments I have already paid for.

Update: After consultation, a much improved resolution was established. While initially disheartened, they went above and beyond to retain my patronage. Hopefully the new fix is more permanent than the last.

Original: I was in February of last year for a decent of amount of work. One of the fillings I had put in just fell out. Now I am being told I need to pay 50$ for an exam to check out their poorly done work and the filling is out of warranty so I will have to pay for a replacement. Let me start by saying: I came in with mixed emotions and left questioning why all human hands don’t feel this angelic. Truly. Dr Herrera’s hands were so gentle I briefly forgot I was at the dentist and not being blessed by a tooth fairy with a doctorate. She was incredibly considerate of my emotional rollercoaster when it came to certain dental work (because yes, I had thoughts and feelings), and she answered every single one of my questions without ever making me feel rushed, silly, or dramatic (even though I absolutely was). She was reassuring, patient, and somehow made me feel genuinely cared for while working on my teeth which feels like an underrated superpower. If dentists had Yelp categories for “emotional support,” she’d be winning awards. 10/10. Would trust her with my teeth and my anxiety again.

I believe I got my deep cleaning from Dr. Herrera. I mean she was so friendly so accommodating. She also didn’t make me feel like crap, though my teeth were really dirty, but she did a thorough job cleaning and making sure that all of my issues were addressed. To be fair, I do appreciate the staff’s attitude and the facilities here. However, this is not a place with highly skilled dentists who genuinely know what they’re doing. What really disappointed me was the way they focused on making money and manipulating patients.

I honestly don’t want to go into detail about what they did, because I will never come back here anyway and don’t want to involve in this clinic either. But I do want to leave a warning review for anyone who’s considering this place..please read the one-star reviews. Those are the honest ones.

The dentist was very nice and explained everything to me throughout the process, sierra did my cleaning and was outstanding. I have extremely horrible anxiety and she helped me through the entire process. She is so patient and kind, giving me little breaks when I was being a big baby. I know I’m a difficult patient and she went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and never made me feel some type of way because I needed so many breaks. Hands down the BEST experience you will ever have at a dental office. I’ve been coming here for almost two years - Dr. Lulu Tang and her entire staff from front office to back office are incredible. The office operates like a well oiled machine. No long waits, efficient staff, amazing dentists and hygienists. Also there are no surprises when it comes to billing. Everything is reviewed with you in advance and cleared before they start working on you.
I had some dental work done today and was offered a warm blanket and stress ball in case I needed it.

Came in for a long overdue cleaning. Dr. Tang made me feel like a respected colleague, explaining everything to me before giving me some options. I felt more well-informed to make short term and long term decisions about my oral health than I ever have with my previous dentist.

I had a visit to Sahara Modern Dental 12/24. I went for a cleaning, at that point it felt like I was on a New Car Sale's Lot. They wanted to use all my allowance on my dental insurance. At that point I was bombarded by their staff of floor sales people to force me into a deep cleaning which I explained that I didn't want or need another deep cleaning which isn't covered by my insurance. I ended up spending 400.00 out of pocket because they told me I wouldn't need a deep cleaning next visit. I happened to see the technicians talking secretly in the hallway, I wasn't surprised that another salesperson came in to sell me a optional laser periodontal gum treatment for another 125.00 out of pocket of course! At that time I was mislead and sold all the New Car Options for approximately 525.00 dollars cash on top of draining my one year dental insurance allowance. I called for my 6 months cleaning in June, now they're trying to hustle me again with all this unnecessary treatments again. I'm 65 and know when I'm being suckered! Be aware of your out of pocket with these type people..

This is an edit to a prior post re: the experience of my young adult child. Although the clinic is modern & clean, insurance patients beware that upselling occurs at all stages i.e. saliva test, expensive laser gum treatments, “Smart” plan adds $25 fees per payment. Read everything before you sign their agreements. Take your time, research, come back if unsure, ask for covered options. Rather than compromise 50/50 to help a young adult, they instead created a 2 page legal settlement agreement to remove all rights as a patient. Dr. Jackson was kind & professional today.

After looking at our insurance claims and reflecting on the visit more there were many things that make me question if they are just in it to get as much money as possible from patients.

I understand the dental business is hard, and they do some volunteering, and they seem like caring people. But patients need to watch out for their own finances as well, inflation is hard on all of us, and over-treatment or improper treatment can have devastating and permanent effects on patients.

1) The dentist wanted to do a crown on a tooth that simply needed a cap repaired, a minor and inexpensive procedure. A crown would have been over-treatment and costly and would have destroyed a lot of healthy tooth, setting me up for problems down the road when the crown inevitably failed and there wouldn't be much tooth left to work with. I went to another dentist and got a cap for $200 and it's been fine, none of the problems Cheng warned me about have happened. I don't know why she refused to do a more conservative treatment when I was firm that I would not get a crown. It was clearly not malpractice to do another cap because another dentist did it and it's been great.

2) The dentist tried to sell me on oral cancer screening when I have no risk factors. From seeing what they offered to my husband (some type of laser treatment), I get the impression they try to sell each patient on at least something to help make more money (cancer screening, laser treatment, etc.). She tried to sell something different to my husband even though technically he would have higher oral cancer risk as a former heavy drinker.

3) My husband feels they might have exaggerated the extent of his gum disease. His gums weren't great but after some hygiene changes they've been better and telling him he needed frequent costly scaling might have been over-treatment for profit. He tried another dentist after 6 months and that dentist was able to do regular cleaning on him, no scaling. The root planing scaling can be necessary in some cases, but it does carry some risks and costs, so you don't want a dentist to push it on people with borderline cases. The fact that another dentist said it was fine to just do a regular cleaning made us question the judgment from this office.

4) They billed my husband's insurance for so many random things (like $95 for talking to him about gum care) and the total charge they requested for cleaning and scaling was over $2000. We ended up paying a substantial amount -- I can't even figure it out from the insurance records. They billed our insurance for so much random stuff and burned through our yearly allotment for dental spending.

5) This is a small thing, but Cheng chastized us for talking to her staff about an issue with what the charge would be and said we should only talk to her, not her staff. How were we supposed to know? Usually staff can speak on behalf of a business. She should have told her staff to check with her and not answer about things they weren't sure about, not admonish her patients.

They are really personable and nice and organized and have modern tech, and they were accommodating of my disability, but there was also a lot that made us feel we would have to watch our back here. In a lot of ways you are at the mercy of the dentist office, you don't know what they are going to bill you for or if they are recommending too many things for profit.

My overall impression is the doctors are nice people and seem to be trying, but they might be dealing with high dental school loans and are just starting out and are still on the learning curve of learning how to care for patients in the real world, and sometimes might be too adamant about sticking to what school would say or trying to overtreat/overbill. Maybe you don't want to be the person they learn on.

This team is the best in the city—I highly recommend Sahara Modern Dentistry and am looking forward to coming back for my follow-ups with them.

My first time visit was an emergency yesterday. I came in to see Dr. Tang, who was recommended by friends and family. Dr. Tang was incredibly patient and efficient. She heard my concerns prior to examining my teeth and gums to check on the issues, explained her examination process after looking at the X-rays, and verbalized the next steps she would want her and her team to take to remedy my dental issues prior to moving forward. They were able to do a deep cleaning and put in a crown for one of my tooths the same day. Their hygienist, front office staff, dental assistants, and dentist were professional and incredibly sympathetic.

While the actual dentists are knowledgeable, the office just cant seem to figure out billing. I asked the lady in the front point blank if there was anything else I had to pay, including my insurance and she said assured me I was okay. A few weeks later I get a letter in the mail and 10 missed phone calls explaining if I don't pay my debt the bill will be sent to collections. Can't do business with people that can't manage billing.

I lost a crown coaching the night before driving to Las Vegas for vacation. Dr. Chung got me in the next morning at 930 and did an amazing job putting my crown back on and getting me out of pain.
