It seems like the right hand doesn’t even know the left hand is a hand, let alone that it’s attached to the body!

I was referred here for a double wisdom tooth extraction, including one impacted tooth that is growing sideways. The day before my scheduled surgery, I still had not been contacted with any information regarding pre-op instructions. Because I’m proactive, I called the office myself to make sure I understood what I needed to do beforehand.

A few hours later, I thought about medication I’m currently taking and called back to make sure there wouldn’t be an issue with my procedure. I was transferred to the appropriate department and explained everything to the person who answered. I was then placed on hold for about 10 minutes.

When someone finally came back on the phone, I was told they couldn’t provide information about medication that had been prescribed by another doctor. OBVIOUSLY. That wasn’t what I was asking.

When I explained that to her, she asked me what I was actually calling about. So I had to go through the entire situation AGAIN. At that point, I expressed how frustrating it was that the information hadn’t been gathered while I was on hold. Her response was essentially, “Well, it’s about how you feel. You can come in and see, but with the medication you SHOULD be fine.”

Excuse me… SHOULD be fine?

I’m not calling for a “maybe.” I’m taking time off work to have surgery, and I’m going to be sedated. I want clear, accurate information before I walk into a procedure—not uncertainty and conflicting communication.

I haven’t, and WILL NOT, even stepped foot inside this office yet, and based solely on this experience, I do not feel comfortable moving forward with being sedated there. If the communication is this disorganized before the procedure, I have serious concerns about what the experience will be like once I’m actually there.

I truly hope they improve their communication and coordination because patients should not have to chase down basic pre-op information themselves or repeatedly explain the same concern to multiple people.

For transparency, I do have the call recorded, if anyone is interested.

EDIT: From your response its clear you did not read what I wrote. I have said, repeatedly, that i wasnt asking for information on any medication i was calling YOUR OFFICE to get information on the surgery that YOUR OFFICE would be doing, under the sedation that YOUR OFFICE would put me under!!!

⭐ Booked my daughter a cleaning — she waited over an hour (front desk had to lean over the counter to see if she was still there), got pitched extra services, and left WITHOUT the cleaning. I endured dishonest billing practices. Although in-network, Summer Dental attempted to collect fees beyond the fee allowed by MetLife. To compound matters, the crown never fit, and I have to pay another dentist to make a new crown. In fact, the crown fell off shortly after it was placed.

I paid in full as required by the Explanation of Benefits. I got nothing, and this business tried to collect more. A refund of the amount paid was warranted.

I don’t enjoy leaving bad reviews, but I had a terrible experience here. One of the assistants was fantastic, but the other made me very uncomfortable. He seemed very lost and confused, with a thousand-yard stare. The hygienist was very kind but accidentally only did half of my cleaning, so I had to immediately go back in same-day to do the rest. The filling I got from here was shaped improperly, leaving sharp edges and excess material that had to be cleaned up by a different dentist.

After multiple bad experiences in a short time, I won’t be coming back. Looking at other reviews it sounds like the majority of the staff here are great, but I unfortunately didn’t get to meet them.

I went in for re-root canal 4/17 and the specialist was very experienced which gave me confidence and move forward with the procedure. BUT the medical assistant didn’t seem to have much experience. They kept trying charging me after I had already paid. I told her I had paid already but she kept insisting. I showed her my statement and still she kept asking for me to pay. Finally someone else step in and said it was fine. Now 6/18 I received an Email stating I owe them $295. I should have received a call letting me know what happened not just a mystery bill in my email with no explanation. When I called for an explanation the assistant on the phone was very condescending. Beware! They gave me such a hard time at the front desk.

I’ve been going to this dentist for years. My favorite dentist moved away a couple years ago so I switched offices for a bit. I recently started coming back and I’ve been in about 5 or 6 times. The new doctor, Peter Bonifatto is one of the rudest doctors with zero bed side manner that I’ve ever met. Each time I’ve seen him he has barely stayed in the room for 5 minutes, tells you that you aren’t doing something right (doesn’t matter what you going for - you’re wrong about it - I heard his conversations with other patients) He leaves the room mid sentence and rolls his eyes when speaking to you.I'm 100 percent certain that he does not want to deal with patients that need a lot of work. His poor hygienist looked mortified at the way he was speaking to me. She then went out of her way to apologize and treat me overly nice. I had work scheduled here but I won’t be coming back due to this doctor. Which is unfortunate because Dr. Chen is amazing and so is the office staff. This doctors office helped me get over my dental anxiety (before Dr B was employed). I admit, I had a lot of work to be done due to my anxiety and not coming in.But if he had chosen to be kind for a minute he might have discovered that the last time I was in there I got a call while sitting in that chair that my mother had died unexpectedly and that’s why I had not been back in a year to complete my work. I know I will get a generic reply to this but I’m moving on to a dentist that actually likes his job.and the people he helps.

I came to the exact right place....
This place s amazing. After having a SEVERELY traumatizing experience at a different provider I had completely neglected my oral health until I couldn't anymore. I was told before coming here that my best option was an "all on 8" total replacement.. came in for a cleaning,and was told that not only was my goal easily achievable but also a good candidate for Invisalign. No lectures no judgement ,Dr B was well more interested in taking the time getting my anxiety under control and my oral health to 100% and restoration that will let me keep my own teeth rather than more expensive cosmetic alternatives. My hygenist was TOP NOTCH! Took her time to make sure she got EVERYTHING and that I was pain free the entire time. AN ABSOLUTE BEST CASE SCENARIO FOR ME.

I don’t usually write reviews for dentists....but this place absolutely deserves one.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Bonifatto for the past two years, and he is hands-down one of the best dentists I’ve ever had. He's incredibly knowledgeable, genuinely kind, and he always makes me feel completely taken care of on every single visit. You can just feel that he cares.

Then… I had a root canal with Dr. Chen, and let me just say… WOW. I didn’t even feel the numbing needles (how is that even possible?!). He has such a calm, steady presence, checked in with me throughout, and went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and relaxed. No pain. No stress. Just…super easy.

Honestly, I’ve had more stressful experiences ordering lunch at Cafe Rio! Seriously, my visits with Summer Dental feel more like, lying under a cabana with a mai tai in my hand, it was that smooth.

If you’re even slightly nervous about dental work (like I have been all of my life) this is where you want to be. These doctors are the real deal.

I had an extremely frustrating experience with this individual named NOE. He was consistently rude, condescending, and unskilled, and often seemed unprepared to provide accurate information. His customer service skills clearly need improvement. While everyone can have a bad day, it’s important to not let personal frustrations affect how you treat others, especially in a professional setting. Bad experience with Bonifatto. Walked out in the middle of me asking questions! Also asked the same questions about prior treatment each time- deliberately overlooking info in the file. When I shared my experience with the office manager, there was no apology, empathy or concern. They offered an appointment with another dentist. Dental Assistant didn't like that I didn't want to chit chat while waiting (who wants to?? It's a dental appointment, not a fun experience, if patients don't initiate conversation how about leaving them in peace) and, now that I've seend my file, can see he painted the notes accordingly. The hygienist, Sachi, is great (not sure if she's still there). Recommend going to a dentist who cares!

I have extreme anxiety and they have all been super kind and sweet. The doctor B is super empathetic and caring. He explains the whole process of what he's doing and make sure you're comfortable with everything. All of his assistants have been outstanding and have even wiped tears off of my face while they're doing a procedure. I’ve had multiple visits at Summer Dental, including regular cleanings and updated veneers, and every experience has been consistently excellent. Scheduling is easy and accommodating, the front desk is friendly and efficient, there are no long waits, and they’ve even recognized me by name before signing in. On one visit, childcare unexpectedly fell through, and they were incredibly kind and accommodating about having my child there during my procedure.

Dr. B and Pauline C are clearly highly trained, but what truly sets them apart is how friendly and thorough they are. They really take the time to learn what you want, genuinely listen to feedback, and make sure you’re comfortable (both literally and figuratively) while still being extremely detail-oriented. I highly recommend them when it comes to veneers. When you’re investing in something that permanently impacts your confidence, that level of care matters. They encouraged me not to “settle” when the shade of the veneers the lab had created didn’t align with my natural teeth the way I had expected (even though it was barely off and I would have kept them if they hadn’t said anything!) ....Instead of rushing or treating it as an inconvenience, they supported having a new set made because they cared about my long-term happiness and satisfaction.

Pauline C even hand-crafted temporary teeth while my veneers were being completed, and the temps even looked beautiful! That level of pride and care in their work really shows.

I don't know what I have to do to get the doctors to be sympathetic to my dental anxiety. I've gone here for years and they have less and less compassion every time, which in turn makes my anxiety higher and higher for every subsequent visit. Letting a stranger literally put their hands inside my mouth is such an intimate thing, and I just hate feeling like the person doing it actively dislikes me as an individual. It's a genuinely demeaning experience every time. :(

I had an appointment today at Summer Dental, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. I was really nervous because of some issues I’ve had in the past, but from the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel completely comfortable. I actually drove by and walked in without an appointment, and they were able to get me scheduled for the very next day!

I’ve never experienced gaslighting like this in a dental office before.
I came in for a simple second opinion, thinking maybe I’d get a clearer explanation of my coverage, not realizing this office is a sister location to the first one I went to(PROVIDENCE). I explained to them I already had current X-rays from there and yet still forced me to get another X-ray.
Both offices are listed as in-network with Guardian PPO, but somehow both told me my insurance covered nothing. Every line on their “estimate” showed $0 allowed and $0 insurance, even though my plan clearly states 80% for extractions and 50% for implants. When I asked why, I was told, “because it’s a liability.”
That’s not an insurance term. That’s straight-up manipulation. They act confident, throw around words like “policy” and “liability,” hoping you’ll just nod and pay thousands out of pocket. It’s financial gaslighting, trying to make patients doubt their own benefits.
The second location even took the same treatment plan and magically made it $2,000 higher. Same codes, same everything, just more money.
When I pushed back, the gaslighting persisted. They went from fake smiles to stone walls like how dare I ask questions about my own coverage. I walked out. No work done. And somehow they still managed to bill me.
If you have Guardian PPO or any insurance at all, check your plan before believing a word these people say. They rely on confusion and intimidation to make extra money. I reported for them for billing fraud & encourage others to fight back against shady practices.
What they’re doing isn’t just dishonest; it’s predatory. They are most likely getting paid on both ends from the patient and insurance after lying to the patient about their benefits not being covered. Most incompetent group of individuals. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

12/9/25 Update: I’ve now had the exact same procedure completed elsewhere — with full insurance transparency — for $333 out-of-pocket.
Summer Dental quoted me $1,217, and their sister office Providence Dental quoted $819 for the same CDT codes. Neither estimate matched my verified Guardian PPO coverage. One office even tried to add $670 for optional anesthesia that was absolutely unnecessary for a simple extraction.
Their public reply tries to blame “insurance limitations,” but I confirmed directly with Guardian that every code was covered exactly as expected. The problem wasn’t my insurance — it was their misrepresentation of benefits and inflated pricing. Getting two completely different quotes from two affiliated offices says everything about how this corporate chain operates.
This is a corporate-owned dental practice, and they treat patients like revenue targets, not people. If you want honest, ethical care, go to an old-school private dentist who actually gives a damn.
DRS. Chin & Pharar Dentistry treated me with transparency, professionalism, and real human care — everything this chain failed to provide. The only thing they’re extracting is your wallet. Maybe Dr. Bonifatto will be able to buy some more gold jewelry with the extra insurance claims they steal from people. ;) Ciao !

Summer dental has changed how I feel about going to the dentist. The first place I’ve ever been to that uses a numbing gel before giving shots in your gums to ease the pain of it. Getting my dental work here has been such a breeze. Naomi has been extremely helpful with making sure all of my bills are processed correctly with my insurance. Overall, all of the staff is extremely nice and helpful and I’ve had no issues with the work I’ve had done. I’ll never go elsewhere!

We've taken my son (11 yo) to get braces 3 months ago. Since then, we've taken him back 4 times because of different issues already.

Now, his braces popped out on 2 different sections (he was eating chicken and steamed veggies!). Not the first time this happens.

I just called and was told that they won't be able to fix it until SATURDAY.... today is TUESDAY.

I understand that stuff happens, and that you might need to go back to fix an issue here or there, but this is ridiculous. I don't know a single kid that has had braces that had to go this many times in 3 years, let alone 3 months.

UPDATE: Raised my rating to 4 stars. We went there again for a checkup, and everything was wonderful. We haven't had to go back to fix any issues since.

Outstanding experience. Easily get timely appointments (within a week of calling) for all my dental care. I especially appreciate they have weekend appointments. I recently had a complication following a crown and was seen by Dr. Kung who immediately identified the problem and was able to find the time that same day to fix it with a root canal. Dr. Kung was very knowledgeable and informative, and I appreciate how he and his staff continuously checked on my comfort and pain control throughout the procedure. The front desk staff are always friendly and helpful, too. I highly recommend.

Very upset. It seems they do not have enough professionals to work there. It’s very hard to reschedule with them. My daughter last checked up with her braces is June 16th, 2025. She supposed to see orthodontist every 4 weeks. But she has very tight schedules. We have to reschedule her appt of July 11th. But there is no any appointment until one month later, which is August 11th. But we happened to reschedule again. Then the next appointment has to be September 24th, which is another month more. I expressed my worried that she has to wait three more months before September 24th visit. But they are very cool, saying they can do nothing. I am not saying they are not good. But definitely not fit for those patients that have tight schedules. It really takes so long to reschedule anything. Some other orthodontist offices definitely will not take that long.

I was specifically told I do not have coverage for 2 chips. I said, I am pretty sure I do. Office manager said no I do not and said I had to pay $490 cash price. I made appt. I came in. They fixed it. I then made an appointment for crowns I needed due to tooth fractures, but no decay. They also said I have no coverage for the crowns because there was no decay and presented me with a plan that includes no insurance and using there 3D printed crowns. I said please submit to my insurance. Office Manager was clearly not happy with that, and said fine but that will take 6 to 8 weeks. I said ok. I communicated to them, 3 days later, yes 3 maybe 4 days later, I do have coverage and my responsibility was around $1200 +/-.... Not the $5000 plus they wanted... And again, I was told I have no coverage originally.
So, they did say they would honor the insurance coverage... Again, which originally they said would not be covered...
So, I went in for my appointment for the crowns... And on the way in I decided to check my benefits again to make sure it was all good. And guess what...remember the 2 chips I paid $490 for? (One chip, one amalgam? veneer)... Well, not only did they charge me $490 because I would have no insurance coverage as they said but they billed my insurance and guess what. I did have coverage and my responsibility was about $190 +/-. So they charged my insurance and me separately for the same procedure and never said a thing, never offered me money back.
I was upset and asked to speak to the office manager and asked to speak to the dentist and noted what this really was. Not yelling in any way shape or form. I informed the dentist what this really was, which I will not say here. I told the dentist he needed to fix this or else I would have to report this. I was then kicked out of the practice, and refused to see me while in pain. I left. I went back 5 minutes later and said what about the fact you charged my insurance without telling me, and telling me I have no coverage for that, and then after I came back and asked for my money back, THEN they said ok, we will refund your $490... This was not until after I came back.
Now, here is the kicker....before I had my first appointment with them, I asked to speak to the Office Manager, before I ever had an appointment. I told her I was in part responsible for physician billing and understand how medical billing works in detail. I asked her to please make sure she utilizes my insurance and bills me properly.

I just had the BEST experience! Like many, it takes a lot for me to go to the dentist, especially if I know the hygienist is judgy and talks down to you. Eddie is hands down the BEST hygienist. He has a top notch bedside manner, attention to details, and cares about the end results. Put it this way - I have good blood pressure normally - unless I’m in a doctor’s office. This is the first time my blood pressure was normal at the dentist. The heart doesn’t lie!
