But Summerhills Dental proved me wrong today!

I moved here 3 years ago from East Coast, and I have never had a positive experience at the dentist….until today!

I haven’t had a cleaning since the year before COVID and I was extremely embarrassed to go to dentist now, however I knew I couldn’t put off any longer.

From the moment I walked in everyone was amazing!!!! Dr. Allen came up to the front and greeted me when I came in. I was treated so well by Sue and Maribel on my arrival. Then Evie took me back for X-rays and what a joy she is! Then Dr. Chi came to work on me and do my exam, then Maribel came back to assist - they made me feel secure, calm, with no judgment on the bad shape I was in considering how long I’ve gone without my routine cleanings 🥴

Dr. Chi was extremely patient and kind, I honestly couldn’t thank him enough.

Then came the treatment plan and cost; as my insurance is not covering everything. I was about to panic and then came Maribel to the rescue! Maribel introduced me to a credit that is easy approval and gives monthly payments without interest. However, the monthly payment was more then I can handle at this time so her and Sue got to work and started breaking things down a bit for me so that I could take it one step at a time. Maribel calmed my nerves by showing me what I should take care of first due to the bone loss that Dr. Chi pointed out, and what was important now and what could wait until later when I have new insurance again.

I felt very much at ease when I left there, and happy to know I found a great office team that understands my current life situation and what I can financially do and what I’m unable to do. I can’t say good enough things about them. I’ve never had a Dentist who is gentle and kind (usually more passive aggressive with no patience is what I’ve experienced)…nor have I ever experienced an office team at this caliber.

Next week I go back for my appointment, and I honestly look forward to seeing them next week!

Wonderful experience! My former dentist sold her practice. I had gone to another office where the treatment plan was too invasive and outrageously expensive for a 77 year old widow. Staff was very good. Personable and professional. My only criticism is that 20 minutes after our scheduled time we went to the front desk and asked how much longer. They said a few more minutes and someone got us quickly and then apologized. I wish they would have said something earlier that they were running late.

I went to my appointment today already having anxiety about dentists and doctors. I went to this specific dental office on a referral that my mother had made last summer before she passed.
(Backstory) I was having an issue with one tooth that I know needed to be pulled because I waited too long so I finally made my appointment and decided I was going to take better care of my teeth and I want to make a positive change for my life and make my mom proud.

Anyway I showed up for my appointment at 2pm…the appointment was scheduled for 2:30pm. One of the ladies took my X-rays at about 3pm and then I sat for another 45 minutes waiting to see the dentist for an exam. It was busy but my anxiety was getting worse. The dentist came in and did my exam and then boldly asked me if I wanted to keep my teeth? I looked at her and said what do you mean? She then explained that I had gum disease and they could help with delaying the disease but it would take a lot of work and was I willing to do that work to keep my teeth? I was a little shocked at how she decided to deliver the diagnosis and I felt shamed and scolded and I explained YES! why else would I be here. I said I had told the lady I made the appointment with that I was trying to get a hold on my over all health and needed to start somewhere. I don’t understand what I did to deserve the way I spoken to? Then the other dentist came in and talked to me about my needed extraction. He told me that because I was a diabetic and my A-1C levels were high that he was hesitant about doing the extraction because of the healing process. I explained I couldn’t live with the loose tooth and that an infection was sure to come back. He agreed. So what do I do? Risk infection from leaving the tooth unpulled or risk infection from having it pulled? Lose Lose situation right? Anyway he proceeded to tell me about my body and my healing process and I told him I know and I’ve been working on my diabetes already to better myself physically and I just need to wait for my doctors appointment in February to see if they will add meds to help lower my A-1C. Long story short he lectured me but finally said he would pull it on Monday.
Over all I’m disappointed with the way I was treated by the dentists but the receptionists were very kind. I will go back on Monday and have my tooth pulled and give them another chance but if I am met with the same attitude I will write another review. I wish healthcare professionals would see people as individuals and not jump to conclusions that everyone they see isn’t trying to do their best.
I am trying to improve my overall health and no matter what I do I feel punished.
If you go here I hope they treat you with kindness.

I forgot to make an appointment for my 3 month cleaning. From the start Sue the receptionist help me by getting me on a waiting list for cancellations. Two days later she call with a cancellation which I took, as I needed a cleaning within 8 days due to the fact that I am having surgery and will be down for about 6 weeks. I need cleanings every 3 months due to periodontal disease. I have been having this done for the past 30 years and been able to keep my teeth. I have experience with hygienist - good and bad. The hygienist is extremely good! She cleaned my teeth and got to areas that were causing me issues. Bottom line - one of the best jobs I’ve had in 5 years since moving to Las Vegas!!! She is great. The dentist help me out 6 months ago when a crown came off. She gave me a thorough check and glued it back on. She said we need to watch a couple of areas where a cavity had developed and a crown was needing watching. Next time I will be needing them fixed. The team here is fabulous and work as just that a team. Cannot say enough good things about them. Highly recommended if you want great care.

Today I went for a routine cleaning of my teeth. My husband had an appointment right after me. Janele is a wonderful, professional hygienist and treats us with such dignity and respect. Bill was fortunate enough to see our dentist Dr. Cindy Allen. She scheduled my husband for another appointment within a few weeks. He needs a crown. Dr. Allen cares about not only about our teeth but about us individually. Again Sue helped me out with a cracked tooth. Got me in and had me seen last minute. Dr Allen was great as always and her assistant, forgive me, I was a little out of it with medicine I took, he was very kind and gentle. Wonderful man. I was greeted as soon as arriving by Sue and Kim I was early to my 10:00 appointment but none the less within a few minutes Kristy appeared to take me for X-rays administered in one of multiple examination bays. After which I was consulted by Dr Allen

To no surprise, I was advised, in great detail, of several conditions which would need to be addressed over the next months by Dr Allen and her team or referrals to other Physicians. We actually proceeded with fillings that were necessary after moving to another bay

I was administered two doses of numbing solution. The procedure was as uncomfortable as expected However, both Kristy and Dr Allen did their best to comfort me. Stopping when clearly I was feeling uncomfortable

All things considered for, a long overdue dental exam, at my own omission; 3 1/2 hours later I was walking out the door with two referrals for additional procedures and an appointment for an extensive deep clean in mid-June back at Summerhill Dental

Four days after my Monday morning visit, I received a text message asking how my newly filled teeth were feeling

The treatment and genuine care was evidenced by each staff member of the family owned practice. The one adjustment to be made on my part as a new client, was being one of several patients attended to simultaneously as Dr Allen worked efficiently from one bay to another with the aid of varying technicians such as Kristy.

This is the first time I had an appointment to see Dr. Allen for an infected tooth. I was in pain. When I called her office, I was immediately given an appointment to see Dr. Allen that morning. Then I received a patient information form through email to be filled out. I did not pay attention about time while filling out the form, hence I was late for my Appointment. It was very nice of Sue, from the front office called me on the phone to alert me for the time, and Dr. Allen was kind enough to still accept me for the appointment even I was late for 40 minutes. I have been with SummerHills dental since about 2018. When I started, I was still struggling with “dentist fear” from some very horrible work by others. These guys tell you what’s happening, they advise. They do not pressure you into a service … they DO tell you the consequences of any choices. Example: I need this work done, these 4 teeth. What is the priority, what can wait 6 months, what is a “watch this”, here is a plan to get critical stuff done and then we can take a break. On multiple occasions I’ve had to tell one of the dentists Nope … I can’t do that, can’t afford all that. So with their help, we deal with one of my major fixes at a time. The hygienists: They are excellent and I’ve seen the results of their work. As with most places, the front office staff can make or break a business. These ladies do an outstanding job and I love every one of them. My gums, teeth, and implants all tell me they love SummerHills Dental, and they highly recommend.

I have to be honest and say I hate going to the dentist…That being said I have to say I have never had such a pleasant experience going somewhere that I hate to go. Staff was sooo pleasant and made me feel comfortable. I had an emergency as I chipped porcelain back side on a crown that was part of my permanent bridge. Lori fit me in within 24 hrs. Sue, was so gentle and careful when she did x-rays.
Dr Allen was so caring and did a temporary fix so that I could take my time to think about what my next step should be, whether I get implants or just replace bridge in future. They do not pressure patients to get procedures done. I love that.

This practice is thorough and frank. The dentist reviews the conditions of my teeth after a cleaning and provides helpful suggestions for improving dental hygiene. She is also frank on which teeth need corrective action that avoids more serious consequences if left untreated. I know her recommendations have and will benefit me in the long run.
