We switched Doctors because the care and knowledge I was getting was absent from my original Doctor. I got an appointment with Dr Deguzman right away after being in the hospital for 10 days. She was so nice and professional and took the time to listen to all my concerns. She has incredible knowledge and she knew all my information and went over everything with me.
I am blessed to have found Dr DeGuzman and I am very happy that she is in my corner helping me get better.

I went to Southwest Medical because I was experiencing severe lower-back pain radiating down my calf and into two of my toes. My first visit was at Urgent Care, where Paul Diedrich, PA, told me it was just a muscle issue and sent me home with diclofenac. The pain continued to worsen, so Dr. De GuzmΓ‘n added acetaminophen β€” still without ordering an MRI.

As the pain became unbearable and I could barely walk, I returned to Urgent Care. This time I saw Michael Hughes, PA, and the experience was even worse. He reduced my medication, treated me terribly while I was in tears, and left me waiting 90 minutes as punishment.

I went back the next day to Dr. De GuzmΓ‘n, who finally prescribed medication for sciatica and requested an MRI β€” but the MRI was denied due to β€œlack of information.” This dragged the process out for another two months.

I ended up paying for my own MRI out of pocket and went directly to Dr. Derek Duke. He immediately identified the real issue and recommended surgery on three vertebrae. Within three weeks, I was in surgery β€” and just two days later, the pain I’d suffered for months was completely gone. I am now simply recovering from the procedure, pain-free.

Southwest Medical failed me at every step. Misdiagnosis, delays, lack of proper care, and unnecessary suffering.
They keep patients in pain, ignore critical symptoms, and provide substandard care. Southwest Medical is a complete disappointment β€” and in my experience, a system that guarantees suffering

I mean I'm going there twice so far so that means it's a pretty damn good place to go and it was definitely clean there was no waiting whatsoever well like a 5 minute 10 minute wait but there was no one in the lobby whatsoever everybody there was respectful and nice the staff was nice and respectful the doctors were as well took their time explained everything in detail pretty good place to go

BAD SERVICE! NOBODY CARE AND VERY RUDE TO THE PATIENTS!!! Came here on ambulance at 1 pm - now 2am still at the waiting room with Covid Pneumonia all over my lungs ! Didnt see a doctor yet , only nurse after 7 hours I was here told me they want me to stay over night at the hospital BUT ☝🏻- THEY HAVE NO ROOM OR BEDS !!! I can’t walk ! Sitting on the weal chair for 13 hours now !!! Tried to ask questions- they yelled on me and call security on me !!!

After 6 years I continue to come back to this location. No I dont get to see Dr. Deguzman who I consider my primary but PA Hall (El) and PA Baker are excellent also. I never wait longer than I feel i should and i don't feel rushed through the appointments. I feel heard. It is super convenient being able to do xrays and blood work right there in the same office when needed as well. Parking is rough but that is the layout of the hospital not SWM's fault. Front desk employees always in a good mood, how?!?

Appointment at 9:40AM, they request to come in 10 minutes early. I of course do. 10:20 still sitting here waiting just to get ear checked. An hour of my life just to see a doctor, unreal. If an appointment is for a certain time, please be on time. Our time is just as important as yours. 5 minutes late, I understand, but 45 minutes late is insulting.

It could not be more difficult to make a simple appointment with a doctor than it is at the Banbury cross location. Weeks and weeks to get an appointment. Never know what doctors going to be there or if yours is ever going to be there. And nobody cares if you get an appointment With the doc you want, but they have plenty others you've never heard of that they are happy to bounce you around to!

I try to take out the time to write reviews because of how much I rely on other reviews when looking for services. Southwest Medical, overall, is an above average practice and I definitely recommend them for primary care.I've seen Dr. Shimizu and also a PA, so my review is only relevant for those providers and the office staff.

Pros:
Scheduling: I have been able to get in same day for sick visits, and same week for routine if I don't have a provider preference. You can schedule appointments online and even ask your provider a question through the portal. Very helpful.

Providers: Dr. Shimizu is a very thorough, knowledgeable, and a caring physician. When I couldn't get in with my regular physician the PA checked in with her to coordinate care. This isn't assembly-line medicine; the providers care about what they're doing.

Front office: the front office staff is competent and polite. Usually I feel like offices either have good doctors or good front staff, but SWM have good staff across the board. I've had to get labs printed, records sent, appointments changed, etc, and the staff has always handled things without me having to continuously follow up.

Labs: they can do most labs in office! That's a big time saver. Then lab results are available through the patient portal, also a big time saver.

Cons:

Wait times: the office is always running behind, even for nurse visits. Expect to be there a while, even if you're the first patient of the day. Counter point to this is that the providers are absolutely spending more time with patients than they are billing for and they spend a lot of time reviewing charts before they talk to you.

Phone system: you have to go through so many robot screens to get to a human. Before I knew I could change an appointment online, that was a huge pain. Just do routine stuff through their website or in person and avoid the headache of calling their phone system. It's like calling the DMV

If you call SMA without a specific Provider in mind, just tell the scheduler "anyone but Dr. Ahmad". Save yourself from seeing him once or twice and realizing you need an actual medical professional. Receptionists are great!

I was there in Aug 2018 and saw Dr. Ahmad. I was specifically there to get a referral to see an infectious desease doctor, which he refused to do and sent me to neurologist instead. Here I am, 7 months after that visit, fighting for my life and being treated by an infectious desease doctor. I regret the moment I allowed this doctor to take my health for a ride. I lost precious time and thanks to this inept professional, the infection spread and I almost died. Oh and the cherry on top to my story is that his office staff never billed my insurance and because it’s been past 90 days, the insurance won’t cover it anymore. So now I have to pay the two hundred plus dollars for the visit that almost put me in my grave. Thanks a lot Dr. Ahmad, I will always remember your inadequate service.

Nurse Dina came and got my friend (I came for support) and treated us like garbage. From the second we stood up, she gave us dirty looks. The second we got to the room, she tells my friend "I'm gonna have you wait here. You were late so we're going to go see someone who was on time and we'll be right in." But yet we get here, and there's one person at front desk, and a line so long we were checked in 15 minutes late. I understand getting people in as they arrive, but how dare you try and shame US for YOUR poor staffing. It's not okay. She hasn't even seen the doctor yet. How on Earth is that acceptable customer service? Does it not exist anymore? I also noticed that whoever is in charge of responding to these reviews only responds to the good ones. πŸ€” Interesting.

They text me on a Sunday to confirm my appointment on Tuesday morning.I show up on Tuesday and they tell me as I am checking in that the machine is down and has been since the day before and they are cancelling my appointment. First: The parking situation was atrocious, a Scinta truck was covering at least 5 open spots and they were the only spots available unless you want to go to the garage and hunt down a spot. If they can text on a Sunday, why can't they call or text on a Monday to reschedule you on a Tuesday so you dont' have to take extra time off of work?

After moving to the USA from the UK in 1995 I have seen many different Dr's, some good & some not so good. Southwest Medical, with their "Team" approach, is by far the best experience I've had so far.
I'm coming up 48 this year and I can honestly say, this is my best experience EVER with Dr's. Every Dr on the team, no matter which one I see, is always on point with my file and we can go over issues and not have to wait for any of them to catch up. It's a great thing that they are on point every time.
I honestly can't say enough good things about them.
Dr Arhmad & Dr Monica Hall are the best. Thank you for all your great work.
I might be a long drive for me but it's worth it to be taken care of by the best.
