Terrible. Went in Monday 2/2/26 to Nevada eye physicians in Henderson and told the team and doctor that I had something in my left eye. Had to wait a long time. Saw doctor he looked into my eye with the light and scope and said “eye is irritated, don’t see anything in it.” Then he proceeds to tell me I have glaucoma risk even though I’m only 36 and rushes me out to get me reschedule in a month for testing. Moreover the receptionist over charged me by $76. Turns out she charged me the part my insurance pays and I have to wait for them to get it then they will refund it. I went to shepherd eye center yesterday 2/3/26 and saw Dr Ho who actually checked my eye throughly and turns out there was a rock and some debris in it! Dr Ho removed it and prescribed my antibiotic eye drops. Dr Gassen should face consequences for his lack of care and inability to do his job. Don’t trust him as I now see him as a doctor who doesn’t care about me but only about money.

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Gassen for over 20 years. Back when we first started my husband went to see Dr. Gassen thinking he got something in his eye and couldn't get it out. Dr. Gassen took one look at him and told him he had Bells Palsy and asked my husband who our Primary Doctor was. He then called our doctor immediately and set up an appointment for my husband to see him the same day, that afternoon. It turned out Dr. Gassen was right in his diagnosis. Throughout the years he has shown us many times over that he is very knowledgeable and caring. He built a trust in our relationship for him that is firm and lasting. We would go to no one else especially if we felt something was happening with our eyes that needed to be checked because we know he will make sure we received the best treatment and advice.

His office got me in on very short notice as I had symptoms of a detached retina, and we were a couple hundred miles away from home for a conference. I was puzzled that he didn't think it was a dire emergency but it he did indicate it needed to be taken care of soon. He said he could contact a retina specialist and I should be fixed up within a week... that was my recollection. I told him I was from out of town but did have a retina specialist there so he arranged to have his employees call my doctor right away. I was scheduled to see my specialist the next day and had surgery the day after that. 5 stars for getting me in so quickly- 4 stars that he didn't seem to think it was important to get into surgery right away. My surgeon said my eye had been falling apart for a long time and there was more damage than he thought once surgery started. Dr. Gassen was of the opinion that my sight in the affected eye probably would not be restored. My surgeon said no way to tell until the retina heals. I really appreciate that Dr Gassen got me in on such short notice and facilitated my getting the further attention that I needed.

Our hunt to find someone that takes Tricare in Henderson with early availability was difficult, especially with many offices not answering or returning phone calls or inquiries.
