One word describes Dr. Sastri and her practice: Exceptional.
I was referred to her by my Dermatologist, and I couldn't be happier with his choice of surgeon for me. I needed to have a large lipoma removed that another doctor attempted to remove without success. Dr.Sastri removed the lipoma without any complications even though it was under and intertwined in muscle. Dr. Sastri is an anomaly in the medical field, as she never gives you the impression that she is in a hurry to get to the next patient, and answers all your questions thoroughly, no matter how trivial. After the surgery was completed she provided her personal phone number and stated that if I had any questions or concerns, that I could text her. I didn't have to text her because the day after the surgery, she text me to see how I was doing. What doctor does that?

I had severe stage 3 HS under both my armpits with deep tunnels , painful bumps and open sores . I was getting steroid injections and medications that didn’t work for me. I got recommended by my dermatologist to give Dr Sastri a visit. I had the best experience with her and her team! My son is 5 and needed a minor surgery. Pediatric dermatologist told me they would need to put him under general anesthesia in order for them to remove the skin tag by his ear. I took him to Dr. Siri and in the matter of minutes she was cauterizing the area. She was calm, warm, and very sweet, explaining everything to my son. Hello,

I went to Viropana because I have HS which causes me to have big cysts on my body. My PCP referred me to Dr. Sastri at Viropana. Upon my arrival I found Dr.Sastri’s office on the second floor of the building in the right corner. It is easy to get lost so make sure to arrive early as there are other practices in the building. The office is cozy and has a very zen, peaceful, and private atmosphere. I was welcomed by her receptionist/ assistant doctor that has a positive and fun personality. You can tell they both have great chemistry as colleagues. Dr.Sastri examined my body for cysts and scheduled me for surgery for one persistent cyst that had been laying dormant in my armpit for months. She was quite thorough with asking me about my entire daily lifestyle to help reduce flair ups on my body and had me make adjustments to my diet, clothing and lack of exercise which helped a lot right before the official surgery date. I arrived on a Friday and the procedure began after having a talk about the changes I made. This surgery included a small incision on my armpit to remove built up dead skins cells and glands that had formed a hard lump on my armpit from previous cysts. We did not use anesthesia or anything like that just some numbing liquid injections so I did not feel a thing. I just laid on my back and wore a tank top for easy access under my arm and they used an overhead light for optimal visibility. I enjoyed how they kept me at ease by having conversations with me throughout the process. I have never had any sort of surgery or major health conditions as invasive as this, so that really comforted me. We finished up the procedure with stitches and they gave me spare gauze and recommendations to help it heal. A week later I came back to have the stitches removed and I healed great in their opinion so I had an overall wonderful experience. I plan to come again if I ever get another. Thank you Viropana!

My experience with Dr. Sastri was nothing short of horrible. She is accusatory and defensive. She bullied me into thinking I caused the first complication. I later learned from two follow up doctors that I was not the cause and that was based on copies of my file and photos I took daily post procedure. She attempted to bully me into taking blame for the second complication, this time I would not do so and so she implied I was lying.

Dr. Sastri caused a hematoma with inadequate pressure dressing, and advisement to take advil. Bullied me into thinking I caused it with pressure. A fact two doctors later stated would not have caused, but rather her initial treatment and advice.

Dr. Sastri packed my wound for 7 days post hematoma but did not cut a new wound edge before delayed primary closure, which led to scar tissue memory of an open hole to force the wound to dehisce. I learned about the new wound edge being needed by the second surgeon I saw.

Dr. Sastri caused an infection, which she kept stating she wasn’t worried about, and also gave no preventive antibiotics for. This infection was discovered deep in the wound and I was advised could not have been caused by my care due to its location underneath the scar tissues.

She dismissed me from the practice claiming it was all because I had caused all these complications by not listening to her. She stated most surgeons would have left the 2.5cm hole open for healing after hematoma and acted as though fixing the complication was a ‘courtesy’. When I went to my PCP after, she was HORRIFIED by the medical record (I had to bring it as she has not sent the one they requested) and the photos I had. She stopped referring to the clinic, removed the cards from her lobby and promptly referred me to a new surgeon.

My second surgeon had to cut a new wound edge, dig out infection and scar tissue, which left me with a scar 2-3x larger than Sastri advised. The healing experience with the second surgeon was night and day, I did not have to text once, I had no complications, I was advised I was caring for the wound perfectly at appointments and am now 3 weeks post suture removal. Though I am not happy to have a scar, I am so incredibly grateful to the second surgeon at the Skin Docs, who got me on the other side of this unbelievably hard experience and life lesson.

I am not the only one with this experience, you can find other reviews online for different locations she worked in, Nebraska has a review and her time at Optum in NV as well. There was also, albeit an excessively rude review on google, that referenced her time at Nellis that she had deleted (I had screenshotted it before deletion.) I wouldn’t trust her positive reviews any more than you can trust her. I hope this spares someone the awful experience of being her patient.
