I pride myself on leaving honest and accurate reviews. I try to find the good in everything and everyone. That’s the reason I gave Altea Research Institute 2 stars. The staff at Altea are so kind, inviting and professional so that earned them a star as well as the office being clean earned them another star. However the honest truth is that Somewhere within Altea’s organization things aren’t being done. Or there’s no one qualified to do some essential things that keeps Altea moving forward. I’ve been tryin to get into a study for almost 6 weeks now. I got approved by the doctor to do a study. Then day I was supposed to come in with my care giver I mean literally 1 hour before my appointment I get a call they canceled of me and everything went downhill from there. The friend I was to bring with me took off work to help me out. That costed me a friendship that now I will never get back. The situation could have been avoided because I called twice the day before and each time I was told they would call me back and they didn’t. So the next day they send me a text reminding me of the appointment I called right then. No answer. Then they finally called to cancel. 2 things went wrong nobody called me back and I should have gotten a texted saying that the appointment was canceled or I needed to reschedule. However they confirmed with a reminder so when the last minute cancellation came it was a shock and plan and arrangement I made for the study needed to be remade. That costed me money and a friend. (I paid someone to watch my apartment) anyway I was told they’d call me on Monday. That never happened. So Wednesday June 15th came and I decided to call them. This time I was told the tech they hired they didn’t know then schedule for the tech they hired so they have to call me back Friday June 17th. I know they won’t call that much they made clear. And Dr. Kunovac’s phone just rings and rings. But all this was done in such a nice way it makes you feel wrong for even being upset. This was only my experience with Altea. Maybe they decided they didn’t want me and instead of telling me they keep changing up in hopes I just walk away. I honestly don’t know. Maybe your experience will be different. This is just to let people know what they might encounter while dealing with Altea Research Institute. I’m not mad at the company so if they don’t call me Friday I’m gonna just forget about it. I just hate they have access to all my medical records but on the release of information they have you sign just to see if you qualify. I honestly don’t know what’s going on with this company but I do hope it’s legitimate and I didn’t just give critical information to a bad company I really don’t know but I will come back and update my review here and on Yelp if everything dose actually work out. @iamajsupernova #iamajsupernova

Had me calling hundred times, never answered phone til almost eleven even though it says they open at 9.
Says you have to be officially diagnosed for depression, but don't mention that on the site. Waste of time, anyone can experience long term depression. They are a joke!

This place is absolutely amazing they really helpful if you have depression problem like I do they would do the best to help you. So I been goin through depressing for over a year and they were very helpful with prescriptions and meds I was treated better with them, and learned a lot about my depression problems. So I really recommend this place for a lot of people they might have a lot of studies depending on what your problem is and they can do the best to help you with prescriptions and meds and also put you in class to help you.

Wasn't sure what to expect as this was my first time volunteering for a medical research study. The staff made me feel comfortable right away from the first day until my last. Spent quite a few hours there over a period of 2-3 months and I never felt uncomfortable or unsure of anything. The staff explained thoroughly every step and I had to take and answered any questions I may have had. Being this was my first time if the facility or staff seemed sketchy or unorganized I probably would have declined after my first day of arriving but this was definitely not the case here. My time for the study is now over but would work with them again if another study came about. Thank you everyone at Altea!

I participated in a clinical trial where I was admitted to a psych ward for what was supposed to be three nights four days it was so horrific I left after two days and was expected to be paid $600 they gave me a clean card MasterCard that I could never get to work the phone number for the card said it was having technical difficulties and the website was down as well when I tried to call Altea research program to let them know I was having difficulties their phone number was disconnected.

The entire staff is kind and considerate, every time I came for my appointment I felt like Norm coming to Cheers I was always welcomed by name, everything is very personalized. They care about you which is wonderful and rare in the world we live in today. I would refer family and friends to Altea, I will be back to help them with additional studies as soon as I can. I have been doing studies for Altea since 2016 but this is the 1st In-house study I've done where you have to stay overnight in the hospital. I was very nervous at 1st but thank god the Altea staff was there the whole time - they were 100% professional & made me feel comfortable where as I was less nervous after the 1st day ! This has always been the case with Altea !

This was my first research study and i wasnt expecting much from it but when i went into the office the team was very respectful and courteous. I had trouble getting there since i live about 8 miles away but when i told them about it they said they would get me an uber to and back. Overall the team was very professional.

So spoke with a gentleman by the name of Ben; roughly 2 weeks go and did a assessment over the phone to see if I qualify for a study. I believed it went great scheduled an appointment for 3/5/20 was very willing to participate so a week later I get a call from a clinical doctor at Altea by the name of Andrea and she rescreens me. After speaking with her she said that if I dont hear back from her again to come to my appointment. So fast forward to today 3/5/20 of my appointment and I call the phone number which Ben provided so I can order an uber to pick me up. I call 30 minutes before my appointment time and wait on hold for 20 minutes while they figure things out they say I was scheduled for June 2 at 11:30 instead of 3/5/20 @ 11:30 I am very meticulous about my schedule and time so I wouldn't have accepted that. So I then proceeded to with Ben who seemed to have a smug attitude and told me not to come in and at this point I see a few red flags... if you are going to be apart of a clinical trial research group I wouldn't trust Altea Research if they can not even get scheduling correctly or communicate between each assessment results I wouldn't dare trust them with conducting research assessments and administering medication regarding my mental health and well being.

I'm concerned because I have participated in several research studies at Altea but this latest one may be causing me the severest of side effects. I have been severely ill - extreme weakness, brain fog, nearly unable to dress myself - off and on for the past few months now. I have been participating in this study for about that length of time. First I was taking the oral medication then after a couple of months of that they switched me to the injection.

I will have to stop going to Altea Research because of my illness and the shot is leaving blisters in my arm at the injection site. I was feeling better until I received another shot, and they did not give me a copy of my consent paperwork as I requested during my last visit. They are not as pleasant as they used to be, meaning they don't cater to the patients as they used to.

I am frightened for my life as I am rendered helpless because I can barely move, I cannot focus or concentrate, and the doctors I seek on the illness keep taking my blood and telling me that I am virtually normal. I am very weak and unable to take care of myself and I do not know for sure if it is the study medication causing this illness but I can't take the risk of it being the cause.

Some of the people at Altea are nice but they have changed over staff a few times since I have been going there. I am afraid for my health which is why I do not recommend taking unknown medication for a few dollars. I cannot stress the severity of my illness, and the quality of my life has depleted to virtually no quality at all.

I believe that the medication is negatively affecting my body and brain so I will no longer allow them to give me medication or shoot me with the injection. Participating in these studies is a lot more dangerous than one might think and I would not take chances with my brain and body again. All I can do now is hope and pray that I get better because if I don't I would need assistance in grooming myself, and in daily activities.
