I had a great first visit and am not only new to Dr. Small but also my insurance and the state of Nevada. I was anticipating a lot of problems and honestly not expecting such a smooth transition. I wanted to thank Dr. Small and his MA who is a brand new hire (not that I could tell) and every other staff member who helped me and/or made my experience a positive one. It seems to be a very efficiently run office by very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable staff.

I am extremely disappointed with the care I received from Dr. Small. Throughout my experience, I felt that my concerns were dismissed rather than taken seriously. Appointments felt rushed, and I left without clear answers or a treatment plan that addressed my symptoms.

Communication was also frustrating. It was difficult to get timely responses, and I often felt like I had to advocate for myself just to have my concerns acknowledged. A primary care provider should make patients feel heard, respected, and supported, but that was not my experience.

I understand that healthcare providers are busy, but every patient deserves to feel listened to and receive compassionate, thorough care. Unfortunately, I did not feel that happened here. Trying to get a referral processed or even receive an update is like pulling teeth. Calls are rarely returned, and I constantly had to follow up myself just to get any information. What made the experience even more frustrating was being told by a nurse that the office strongly prefers referring patients to specialists within the Valley Health Physician Alliance network. Because of that, trying to get a referral to a specialist outside of that network was incredibly difficult. As a patient, I should be able to choose the specialist that best fits my needs without feeling like I’m fighting the referral process.

The lack of communication, poor follow-up, and unnecessary obstacles delayed my care and caused a great deal of frustration. Patients deserve timely communication, transparency, and support—not to be left chasing updates on their own. I cannot recommend this practice.

My update is for the office and not Dr Small as he is amazing. The staff really needs to be more considerate and professional. I was given an urgent lab and they never put into the portal. I called 2 times and could only leave a message and never got a call back. I was told the manager Angela would call me and nothing on a Friday. I'm now home in pain and still can't get my tests done cause of the neglectful staff. I was told it could take 72 hours to return a call that I shouldn't even need if they did their job and put the order in.

Dr. Small is the best! He is kind and listens and explains everything. Lucky I found him as he is the only Dr out here I trust so far.

Dr. Small is knowledgeable and communicates well. The problem rests with the Jacobs staff and support. 1) patient portal no longer allows you to direct communications to doctor! 2) after last appointment, there is confusion with a pharmacy order. I’ve tried phone calls. I got one response, but no ability to return call. After that, called main number attempting to get response, nothing. 3) tried calling appointment number. Voice mail. No response. I wonder if Jacobs Medical Group understand concept of patient abandonment? I had a simple problem with pharmacy that has evolved over 3-weeks into a much larger issue! Dr small is negligent and unprofessional. He was short with me and very rude. He would cut me off and didn’t listen to anything I said. I was dealing with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and pre diabetes and wanted to stay on top of my conditions. He told me he’d order bloodwork and if anything was wrong he’d call me back. My blood work came back horribly bad in all those areas and he never once called. I had to look at them myself and have my psychiatrist look at them (who was also alarmed). I called to ask for help and his assistant left a voice message saying I’m fine and just to walk 2 1/2 hrs per week (despite me going to the gym 3-5 times a week and watching my diet. He didn’t recommend any of the medicines I have been on the past to help these conditions). In their own words, “he recommends diet and exercise and says that you're at no significant cardiovascular risk at this time and no medication is recommended either just diet and exercise.” I also tried telling him about some gastrointestinal issues and he just cut me off and said that the gi doctor is different and I don’t need a colonoscopy etc. He obviously doesn’t care about his patients being healthy or take their problems seriously. The staff there was also unprofessional and told me differing times for my appointment so I ended up showing up 1 1/2 hrs early. I even had to remind them to take my copay. I would give this doctor and his staff zero stars if possible. If you value your health go somewhere else.

I wish failing businesses like this would stop paying people, including individuals whio have never had any interaction with this office, to write 5 star reviews. This is the ONLY primary care office in the entire Las Vegas Valley that requires patients to write their own blood work orders and refuses contact with LabCorp or Quest Diagnostics. My 4 week follow up for the results of the blood work I miraculously got done last spring still hasn't come because the only and soonest appointment to review it was 16 months out. Meanwhile, my medical conditions, which were disclosed and discussed as a concern, have worsened and my health deteriorated severely over the past year. The doctor did not speak directly to me or even glance away from his laptop for a second the entire time he was in the exam room. My discharge notes have HEPATITIS C NEEDED bolded and capitalized several times on each page because I am tattooed. None were new, and my medical records indicate I am negative, but his discrimination got in the way of addressing my actual medical conditions that I have no ability or resources to cure on my own. His incompetence is literally killing me

I've been in las Vegas for 5 years. I tried finding a black Dr. In hopes of finding a good knowledgeable Dr that knows their job and is precise in his knowledge and application of getting me off high blood pressure meds. Also because I'm black and I believe in practicing group economics. I was never Impressed with Dr Smalls. My expectations superceded what I received. He's very impersonable and could care less about group economics. I referred my elderly mother too him and she received horrible service and care. I always felt like I was on a conveyor machine I dealing with him and he wouldn't ever let me talk. Also when they decided to drop out of network from the insurance I have I get a $400 bill . They excused it after I had to waste my time going down there to get it straight what was their fault.

Don't waste your time. The Office people are incompetent and have know ideal what they are doing. I called and scheduled a appointment for my daughter as a new patient. Gave them her age and insurance info. They said they could get her in. Went to the appointment and I was then told that they couldn't see her because the doctor doesn't take her insurance and because she is only 17. The office manager came out and said really nothing. No apology was given and they did even take responsibility for their miss up...What's really bad is that I'm a patient there, but no more. Don't waste your time with this office.......

Dr. Small saved my life! He referred me to an orthopedist who ordered a CT Scan for hip pain. A mass was randomly found on my kidney. Dr. Small then made immediate referrals to the necessary specialists to get the mass diagnosed and treated. As a result of his expedient care, I have the most favorable outcome that I could ask for.

Dr. Andre Small of the Valley Health Physician Alliance is an excellent doctor. During my first visit, he was very thorough and addressed all my medical concerns. Dr. Small also addressed my mental concerns and anxiety about various conditions that I have. He also performed a complete physical exam. He asked a lot of questions and thoughtfully answered any questions I had. He explained each treatment option I needed and highlighted priorities we needed to address. I felt that I was treated as a person, mattered, and it was a team effort. Dr. Small was not just going to give me another pill and send me on my way.

So far it's been a nightmare. Missed referrals caused me to have to pay out of pocket $4000 and trying to get them to fix their error is virtually impossible. They want us to follow their rules and leave messages on a voicemail for referrals that apparently people don't even check. I have dates and times of the times I left voicemails and even once spoke to a person and still this isn't going anywhere. At this point I'm looking for yet another Dr. It's too bad because Dr Small is great, his office is just incompetent.

Both my husband and I have chosen Dr. Andre Small as our primary physician. Our experience has been far different than with previous health care operations.
