Dr. Thummala focuses on the treatment of all cancer types with a special interest in breast cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer, and hematological malignancies. She is also on the frontlines of clinical research at Comprehensive, where she serves as principal and sub-investigator for many trials, including collaborations with US Oncology Research, UCLA, and Pharma Research.

This is the worst Dr. I have encountered as an oncologist, extremely disrespectful. She has the worst bedside manner ever! She stated to our family that she “would not be answering any questions” since she was filling in for another Dr. She originally called me on the phone to tell me she couldn’t answer questions since she was driving. I would give negative stars if possible!

I used to think Dr. Anu Thummala was ok until I have been going to her for over 4 years and now she says maybe you need to seek another doctor cause I have ran all the test that I could and I don’t see why you keep getting sick. You mean it took you 4 years to figure this out? Ridiculous if you ask me. I would not recommend her to anyone at all!

This was my first visit with Dr. Thummala. I needed to find a new oncologist and luckily for me I was assigned to her. She took time to clarify what her treatment plan would be. She answered my questions patiently and understood I was nervous. I was with the other oncologist for two years, I always had more questions than answers when I left there. This time I didnt. I am very grateful she had an opening in her schedule to become my oncologist.

Dr. Thummala by far is one of the most compassionate doctors I’ve came across. She truly cares about the well being of her patients. Not only do I know this through my own experience as during my first appointment with her she looked in my eyes and said, you are going to be ok and then jumped into action and had me in treatment the next week. It was going to be a while until I could get all my test and port put in and she pivoted instead of just excepting those wait times. She seen the urgency of time against me and created an alternative in the meantime. Through every visit she was straight forward and gave you the facts/ data. I knew I was not going to be miss lead or have anything sugar coated with her. Her goal is to keep her patients alive and it truly shows through her passion and her work. I would highly recommend her if you are looking for an oncologist to take your concerns and diagnosis as if it’s their own.

Dr. Anu Thummala treated my mother for over five years for colon cancer. At first, the treatment appeared successful, but later we discovered it had spread like wildfire to her liver. I don’t blame Dr. Thummala for failing to cure my mother. My mother absolutely loved her and they had a wonderful doctor-patient friendship, sharing updates about their children, telling funny stories, and working though challenges together. Tragically, my mother died suddenly one night in February. It was an emergency situation that was unrelated to her cancer. My complaint about Dr. Thummala is that she never reached out to me, my mother’s only child. I called Dr. Thummala’s office 5 times and talked to her staff, requesting that Dr. Thummala get in touch with me. She didn’t make an effort to talk to me or to find out what happened to her adoring patient of five years. I am very disappointed that a doctor my mother trusted with her life with could be so cold and uncaring in the end.

The most horrible doctor ever! She'll literally treat you to death. My husband has an aggressive form of MDS that needs immediate proper treatment(chemo/bone marrow transplant), instead, I can't even call her a doctor, she gave my husband EPO shots that are not recommended for MDS. Be aware! She'll kill you and give you treatment that will benefit her pocket, she's all about money!

Did not listen to explanations. Disregarded my concerns. Treatment was terrible and she would make a plan and then at a follow up she would not have any recollection of the plan or tests she ordered and what she ordered them for when I would ask for results. Was a bit rude at times. I just wanted answers. I'm now discharged from her care and still feeling fatigue
