Saw him for a broken arm after an accident and it was a terrible experience. Treated me like I was an idiot for asking questions, ignored my complaints about neck pain (which I found out from another doctor was a slipped disc and pinched nerve), also ignored my complaints about shoulder pain (which was eventually treated by another doctor as well), left me immobilized for too long (by his own admission) which made physical therapy more difficult than it should have been, told me I needed a “manipulation under anesthesia” to regain range of motion which I did and it did nothing for me (another doctor told me it was a completely unnecessary procedure because it didn’t address the root cause of my pain and range of motion issues). Overall he did not listen to me, did not address my needs, was lazy about his care, was extremely rude, and has some predatory practices involving unnecessary procedures. I sought care from another specialist who quickly addressed the root causes and as a result I have better pain management and improved range of motion.

My family is blessed to have Dr. McGee as a physician for the last several years! Raising a family of athletes comes with its share of sports injuries. He has treated their breaks, sprains, and tears over the years. The most remarkable treatment in my opinion was his approach in treating our son’s broken fibula using the latest and most advanced surgical procedures and recovery plan. Our son had season ending injury when he broke his fibula in September and with Dr. McGee’s expertise, he was back on the football field playing in a state championship game by November. Throughout the recovery he kept in touch and made sure he doing ok not only physically but also mentally. Emotional support is also so important to athletes and he proved that he cares. Our children are now off on college playing sports and I cannot count the number of times that we’ve had to reach out to him for his opinion with their injuries. We appreciate him and we thank him for always being available when we need him. I would not trust anyone else but the best with my children and would fly them home from college if they ever need any treatment in the future.

I had to have a very far out repair of a torn bicep tendon and this is probably the only doctor in Vegas that can do this. That being said he could very well act any way he wanted, but was friendly, understanding and took as much time as I needed to help explain things and make me feel as good as anyone in my situation could.

I recovered quite literally 5x faster than others with this surgery based on his advice and post op direction.

I’ve had multiple occurrences in this office and every time I am more than happy with the help I’ve received. The service and the people are always more than kind and go over the top with helping you get the best care possible. Most recently, I came in for a knee injury that happened during one of my cheer practices, and was able to be brought in the very next day following the event. Dr McGee was able to get me an MRI the next day after that and straight to surgery not even the next week. Without him, my devastation of the extent of my injury would have overcome me and I wouldn’t have been able to recover as well as I did, as quickly as I did. Dr McGee and his team have been the most willing to prepare all of their patients to be treated and healed as quickly and efficiently as possible. I have recommended him to several of my family members and friends to help them receive the overwhelming care I did.

I am very happy with the results from Dr McGee doing surgery to repair not just my meniscus but also remove a cyst which had formed. It was such a relief that the recovery was nothing compared to the pain he released me from! Dr. McGee and his staff have been wonderful. My son had UCL surgery and they set up everything for me including the first visit for physical therapy. I can call or email anytime I have a question with no issue they got back to me same day. ⚠️This is a WARNING to choose another surgeon unless you want to risk a surgical injury leaving you or your child permanently disabled, as has happened to many patients. If your teenager is an athlete, it would be wise to avoid risking their future and have them treated by another orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine. Do yourself a favor and read the “1-star” reviews here on Google Reviews -and- on Yelp for Dr. Roddy McGee and Las Vegas Ortho (& his previous employer Total Sports Medicine). I sure wish I had, because I wouldn’t have been botched with a paralyzed nerve due to a surgical error by Dr. William Roddy McGee, leaving me with a non-functioning limb and severe pain for the rest of my life, and so much collateral damage from becoming disabled overnight. It’s been a horrific nightmare I wish on no one.

His self-published news articles about his credentials and “5-star reviews” completely leave out how his track record is tarnished by the many lives he’s ruined by botched surgeries. He hasn’t spared any limbs - shoulders, arms, elbows, wrists, and knees are all at risk. When you go in with an injury, you have no idea you could end up being injured by the surgeon himself and be worse off than before you entered his clinic.

If I could give 10 stars, I would! I went from not being able to lift a coffee cup to back to normal w/in 8 weeks. I had PRP in my elbow. I wasted a year trying to modify workouts, steroid shots etc. Do NOT hesitate if you're thinking about doing it, just spend the $$ and DO IT.

This review is not towards the operation, because Dr McGee is one of the best in my opinion. This is towards his administration and the office personnel. They do not get back to you in a prompt time they let you know they’re going to return your phone call and it never returns. They take measurements then lose the measurements. They say they authorize insurance claims and never put in the claim it’s all about the money and not the and not my daughters well-being. I've had 17 surgeries due to motorcycle accidents and I will say Dr. McGee is among the top 1 percent of orthopedic surgeons in Vegas. He listens when you tell him what your body is doing and how it feels when moving. He explains everything in detail and Total Sports Medicine staff are above top notch. Their follow up is also spot on. When its time for the knee replacement he'll be the doctor.

I was charged for an xray even though their xray machine was broken and I never had an xray done. Additionally, my injury was work related and I was not given the proper forms to fill out. Workmans comp at my job told me they told this office to still forward my bills to them regardless but I guess this was never done since my case manager closed my case and I am being sent to collections. My main issue is how can a doctor’s office charge you for a service that was never done? Completely unprofessional. I would never recommend someone come here. Wrong charges and inadequate staff.

I have lost the use of my dominant hand thanks to Dr. McGee's incompetence in the OR and refusal to be accountable for his mistake. Had he addressed his mistake, I would not have been left with permanent loss of mobility sensation and nerve pain.

Dr. McGee performed rotator cuff surgery Sept. 2015. I am a former professional rock climber who researched this surgery thoroughly. We agreed on techniques, yet w/o my consent, he used a technique he'd recently learned, made the incision too small and burned my median nerve. Then he denied any wrongdoing even though my fingers were paralyzed, I was in mind-numbing pain, and I was suffering excessive muscle waste.

His refusal to address his mistake has resulted in the loss of function in three fingers, my hand, and my wrist. I lived in excruciating pain for nearly a year.

Months after he injured me, a hand surgeon out of state confirmed I had a devastating nerve injury. I was referred to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where I had to apply to be a patient and then had to undergo a nearly 6-hour procedure that was a series of nerve grafts and nerve transfers.

Dr. McGee did not make any of these referrals despite my PT reporting that I was experiencing aggressive muscle waste.

McGee only referred me to a hand surgeon, Dr. Jones, who turned out to be his business partner in a surgical center. That doctor backed McGee up, saying one day I would wake up and be fine—that I just needed to calm down. Because this was a surgical injury, getting help from another local surgeon was impossible.

Because of the time lag and McGee and Jones' refusal to address this very obvious and serious nerve injury, today, I have a permanent loss of mobility and sensation in my dominant hand. I still have nerve pain.

Had I been referred to a peripheral nerve surgeon immediately, I would have been spared this permanent loss of mobility and sensation and months of living in debilitating pain.

Dr. McGee also neglected to address that I was suffering from complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) type II post-surgery and failed to prescribe the proper treatment that could have alleviated my pain.

Today is Aug. 5, 2024, nearly nine years later, and daily, I am reminded of McGee's life-altering mistake and negligence in the form of nerve pain and a permanent loss of function and sensation.

11/16/2016 Update: It is more than a year from the initial surgery injury and six months since my surgery at Barnes-Jewish in St. Louis, and I am still without function or sensation, though my fingers now bend. I had a nearly 6-hour surgical procedure in April 2016 to restore my fingers' function. The results of a Feb. 2016 MRI show that the shoulder repair failed, and I still have a partial thickness tear of my supraspinatus tendon. I still experience pain daily.

1/2017 Update: My fingers bend, but I still cannot pull the trigger back on a bottle of Windex, I cannot write with a pen, and I still type with six fingers. I also still have pain in my fingers when it's cold or when I am on a long flight.

I am a former professional rock climber, and I am fighting and working very hard to regain the use of my fingers. Dr. McGee's mistake has changed my entire life—my ability to function at my job and enjoy my life.

I met a person in Colorado who had something similar occur in a shoulder surgery. The difference was her surgeon immediately addressed his error and called and scheduled her with a peripheral nerve surgeon, covering all of her expenses, including time lost from work. She had a near-full recovery.

When it comes to Dr. McGee, buyer beware. He has no integrity.

Dr. McGee went AWOL on us. Our first visit with this doctor was extremely unprofessional. Then he requested additional tests. Once those tests were performed and the results were back, we could never get a follow up appointment scheduled because the scheduler said they did not have the results back. We finally contacted the MRI facility ourselves, picked up the scans and went to another doctor. The office was just really incompetent, or Dr McGee realized he gave a wrong initial diagnosis. Either way, I would not recommend such incompetence.

Back in 2017 I hurt my knee at the Red Rick Canyon . I went to ST Rose Hospital and thn later was regretted to this Doc, I called the office schedule my appointment spoke to the office staff gave them my insurance info and I emphasize on if the insurance will cover my visit . One the girls said will call you back . They never did , two days later showed up for my appointment I clearly said can you check and see if the insurance will cover my visit ! The girl said no worry you will be fine thinking that they called the insurance and confirmed that with the insurance but apparently that was a lie ! A month later received a bill for 203. Called the office no answer called the insurance to see why they said will contact the Doc . Long story short it ended up in the collections .. called the billing department today spoke to Racheal very Incompetent office assistants and very lousy office I would kindly ask you to do your homework and research don’t end up with outrages bills very misleading My first visit with this doctor and it was extremely unprofessional.
