Dr. Aman Sheikh is truly exceptional. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed, comfortable, and taken care of. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, patient, and genuinely cares about his patients.

What really stood out to me was how thoroughly he explained everything and made sure I understood my options. You can tell he takes pride in his work and puts his patients’ well-being first.

I was unable to get a hold of my regular gental dental office. With a chipped tooth I wanted to be seen as soon as possible. I called the charleston location and they were so accommodating and were able to fit me right in. The doctor was so wonderful and nice. If I could give this place 0 stars I would please run far away from here. I went in to just get my teeth cleaned and they are so disorganized with scheduling that instead of scheduling me for a cleaning the next day they did an orthodontist appointment. The orthodontist people are very sneaky and tried to ask for my social security number without telling me it’s to see if I get approved for a loan. Thank god I asked otherwise I would be screwed 😭. Then I found out they never scheduled me for a cleaning even though I had just got my X-rays done and nobody knew what they were doing. This is the worst dentist I have ever been to and I will never go back.

I had a root canal, temporary crown and as of today my permanent crown. Every appointment went great. The work was top notch and a lot of attention to the clients comfort. Every member of the staff is very friendly and seem to really love their jobs. I highly recommend Gentle Dental.

Why would I go from my old dental office nearest my house only to drive further when I don't like to drive? Blame it on Michelle, the Dental Hygienist. And of course, definitely, the other staff. But first, lets start with Michelle. Keeping my teeth starts with the best oral health care. Michelle keeps me well educated and on task with this goal. In fact, I just received a medical diagnosis and without asking, Michelle did research on my diagnosis and turns out, it definitely can affect my mouth. What Hygienist goes out of her way to be concerned and put in the extra effort and time like this? She easily could've waited until something showed up, but instead prepared herself and me to know what to look for and to prevent any possible problems. The next important issue (for me) is money. So that takes me to the office manager, Angela. I always want to know what the cost is in advance and make sure there aren't any surprises when I'm ready to leave. I tried to argue with her on the phone because I knew she was wrong about how I was being billed. She stayed so nice (above nice) and told me she would call my insurance company and call me back. She did and she explained everything so perfectly. She actually found out how I had been paying too much to another office before and how through my insurance I would not have to pay so much money out of pocket! First, to be able to have someone explain insurance in a way you can understand what is happening is a gift. Second, she did this without being condescending. Now, each time I go to their office I look to see if she's there so I can say hi and know that there won't be any billing issues. Big $plus$ savings here! Dental Assistants: Zen and Janette. They are AMAZING. They don't move you through your appointment like musical chairs. They remember you from your last appointment(s) and you are now treated like a good friend. One time I was cold and they brought me a blanket. WHEN was the last time someone gave you a blanket at a Dentist office. Warmth and comfort. And I'm very impressed when the Assistants share they're continuing further education in the Dental field. This definitely assures me they like their job. Now for the Dentist! The first time I met him the Dental assistant was walking me back to the chair and he walked past me and with a big smile and the friendliest and happiest "Hi!" It was like I was his fun cool friend. I couldn't believe it. I'm always quite intimidated by Doctors. Normally I feel like I'm getting the condescending lower patient look. I had to ask if he was the Dentist? Who is that guy who acts like he knows me? Wait! What? He's the Dentist!!! Most people I know hate or are afraid of going to the Dentist, but this place is like meeting your friends for coffee or drinks. You look forward to it. Crazy right! But true. I know this must seem difficult to believe, yet we all know there is at least one Dental office that is exactly what you're looking for and this one is called Gentle Dental Charleston.

I've been to this dentist dozens of times in the last few months to get extensive work done. I've seen 2 different specialists here and they've all been great. Dr. Sheikh has been wonderful and gentle. I'm very afraid of shots but they accommodate me. I've been very happy with all of my results!! They have had some minor appointment issues here and there

Update: I still go here for cleanings and lots of work over the last few years and I still give 5 stars! Appointment issues are long resolved. Unhappy with them raising prices but understand they have to.

The dentist is fantastic. The hygienist is fantastic. Even the staff is good! The thing that is terrible is the billing! I have good insurance and I know what should be covered, but for some reason they always have an issue with coding, or something like that! A month after I go there, I'll get a bill for something that should have been covered! I'll call and try to sort it out, but they take so long to respond that it's past the time that things can be done! But, again, the dentist is very nice, gentle and caring!

Made an appointment with this office as I have been looking for some time for a Dentist. I read some of the reviews myself and settled on this office. To start you will receive various reminders for your appointment, that can be good or bad. I liked it as I forget and am very busy. I arrived and was greeted by a calm, professional and Happy front desk receptionist. This usually sets the tone for the office, if they're happy then usually that means it's a good place to work. Which in return means its a good place to be treated. I was placed in the waiting lounge and then walked to my chair. Pam and Janette were my two techs who got me settled with X-rays of my teeth and digital scans of my teeth as well. They were very knowledgeable and professional but in a cool and I love what I do kind of way. They explained what would, was and will happen during the visit. After all scans were done I was then greeted by Dr. Sheikh. All I will say is he is now my family and I Dentist moving forward. I didn't feel pressured, he offers in office materials to purchase just like most dentists and I expected that. The big difference it felt like he didn't want to, which speaks volumes as most will almost shame you into buying. After he gave me a full rundown of my teeth and what the next steps were I went to have my cleaning by Dr. Michelle. She took her time and also explained in detail what would happen and proceeded to do just that. During the cleaning she informed me of certain areas and what needed to be done with my teeth. After the cleaning I was then informed of my next steps for upkeep and health. During payment the receptionist again went over exactly what I would pay, what services will be done and what I need to do. The payment schedule was clearly presented. I know we all work and have to make money, but it is nice when you go to someones work and they are upfront and not looking to hide something from you. When they enjoy what they do it makes me the consumer feel at ease about the service I'm receiving. I know everyones experience may be different but this was mine and I am thankful. Hope this helps anyone who has waited years to get their teeth checked and are looking for an office like I was.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this dental office, and I will not be returning. The dentist who performed my root canal was unprofessional and rough. The tooth already had a crown, yet he repeatedly went in and out of the tooth five or more times in a row, causing unnecessary discomfort and making me feel uneasy about the quality of the procedure.

The issues didn’t stop there. When I spoke with Glenda in finance, I clearly told her I wanted the crown that my insurance normally covers — nothing else. She even showed me the options on a printout. Despite that, I ended up being billed for the exact crown I said I did NOT want. This feels deceptive and unacceptable.
I reached out to the billing department for clarification, and I still have not received any response.

I do not recommend this place at all. You cannot bill a patient for something they explicitly refused. I feel misled and betrayed by this office, and I am considering filing a complaint with the BBB and seeking legal advice.

Ive been going to gentle dental for about 10 years now, since i was a child and plan on continuing to do so! The staff has been so friendly during my experience and make the patients feel so welcome :) Dr. Aman Sheikh is truly amazing and so knowledgeable within his field. As much as i hate the dentist, being under the care of him and other staff always makes things better! Not once have i been in uncomfortable pain, confused on whats going to be happening that day, or scared haha. Great place!

I've been with Gentle Dental for 20 some years. Many changes in management but the majority have worked out well and friendly towards me. I have an extremely demanding heavy work schedule but they have managed to fit in my many appointments. Recently I had 4 teeth pulled out at once, being well taken care of by the entire staff, including the highly efficient oral surgeon who was highly intelligent and efficient.

Went here and received my ex Ray and exam's, when I called to put my insurance on file the woman at the front desk refused saying I didn't have dental, but the number I called on the card I have stated I have dental and vision, instead of checking to see if they could take it she refused, I'm not understanding what the harm would have been in checking? The only reason this review isn’t a 1-star is because of the incredible clinical staff. Dr. Sheikh is amazing, Caprice is a gem, the ortho department is fantastic, and the hygienist was incredibly kind and thorough. They deserve every bit of praise.

Now… the front desk manager? Completely different story. She speaks to patients in a tone that’s patronizing at best and flat-out rude at worst like she’s doing you a favor just for answering a question. The energy is very “let me explain this to you slowly since you clearly don’t get it,” which is wild considering I was just asking for clarification on pricing and treatment.

Instead of making patients feel informed and cared for, she gives off the vibe that your wallet is her top concern. It honestly feels like her main job is pushing financing and credit cards rather than supporting patient care. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s incentivized for every person she signs up.

I’ve been coming to this location since I was 11 years old, and in my 17 years as a patient, this is by far the worst front staff I’ve ever encountered. It’s a shame, really. The people actually providing care are incredible, but the gatekeeper at the front is so off-putting, it makes you think twice about coming back. Corporate dental offices already have a reputation, and this one lives up to it, for all the wrong reasons.

Stoped by to inquire about there services. Seemed quite and lonely at first. I felt, I waisted my time, I was first and only in line coming in. Lady took info of all my insurance and DL. After ten to fifteen minutes, someone else walked in behind me. She was still entering my info and said, may I check them in and will finish after. Made no sense, first come first serve why should I have to wait for someone to get checked in with insurance and no appointment yet.That was the very same reason I was there for. There urgentcy and importance of people's time, is not important.
Front lady set me aside to help them first. They finished and left, I was still waiting. Only reason I didn't just walk out, she held on to my license for some reason or another. I finally said to her after they left.
I need to go,I have another doctors appointment. I decided to not do service with this rude dental clinic. All they did was waist my time. 👎🏼

My very 1st Visit here, I met "Dr Sheikn" & his Assistant "Janette"... This was my very 1st Itime here, & I was overwhelmed by how Absolutely kind & gentle they (Both) were!
I had never experienced this before, where the Dr took time to explain (Every single step) with me! * But beyond this! I came to them with "10 days" of "Excruciating Pain!" & I was afraid it wld take several Visits to resolve it, But I am (still sitting in there office) abt to check out, & My Excruciating Pain is already "COMPLETELY GONE!"

The service used to be great. My husband had a checkup and they said they were going to reach out to his insurance to see if his work would be covered. It's been over 2 months still haven't heard anything back from them. I've called twice and came in to the office 1 time to follow up still no answers. First time in the office. I specifically chose this office because I have really bad anxiety with the dentist and I saw the reviews. As soon as I walked into the office, the front desk girl so young needs training on how to talk to new customers. She called her manager over and she was worse she has a mad dog face. I’m glad I had the wrong insurance card because they showed me how they treat new customers that are already struggling have to face the dentist. I did not feel welcome or comfortable at all.
