Dr. Bassewitz, an orthopedic spine surgeon, received his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at UCLA and then a spinal surgery fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He is a senior partner at DOC.
He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
Dr. Bassewitz is also past president of the Nevada Orthopedic Society, a past member of the Board of Councilors for the AAOS, and has been named a Las Vegas "Top Doc" by multiple organizations multiple times over his nearly twenty years of practice in the Las Vegas valley.

Dr. Bassewitz is very personal, and to me, just an all around good person. He’s very professional but also down to earth. I didn’t get any fluff from him nor did I get any dancing around as some doctors do. He was straight forward. Told me what he believed to be my issue. Explained what he thought would be the best course of action for me.
Keep that red cape on you Dr. Bassewitz, it suits you well!!

Saw Dr. Bassewitz over 2 years ago and his P.A. Edmund at least 3 times. Saw Edmund before Christmas. He said I 'm a new patient. I reminded him I wasn't and stated what I typed above. This is in my chart, isn't it? He ignored that and asked me a couple of questions and I said again "It's in my chart". He had a medical student observing and I hope the student learns that you take maybe 5 minutes to quickly skim through the chart. I had 4 questions on my list to ask, which he didn't want to, but he reluctantly did.He said they'd refer me for a posture- correcting brace, but they never did, even though his Medical Asst. called me ro say it was approved. The order was NEVER SENT IN. After 3 +weeks and no response my family doctor ordered it and I just got it. Dr.Bassewitz's P.A. DIDN'T follow through. DON'T call me and say you did. Also, don't be dismissive of a patient.

I’m extremely happy with the care Dr. Hugh Basswitz provided. This is the first time I’ve met a doctor who is genuinely kind and truly listens. Especially when it comes to something so important and delicate like surgery, feeling heard makes all the difference. I don’t feel like I made a mistake at all choosing him—I truly believe I put myself in the best hands. Thank you, Dr. Basswitz.

Dr. Bassewitz is what I see as the epitome of a professional. He knows his craft so well, he takes the time to get a complete history and to make a complete assessment that so many doctors don't. He and his team performed my lumbar spinal fusion with no issues. I trust Dr. Bassewitz completely.

Dr. Bassewitz always takes the time to hear you out and gives you direct and concise evaluation. Went in with back problems found out my hip is my problem. Referrals are timely and on point, very happy with him and his staff otherwise we wouldn’t travel 4 hour to see him!
