I am so pleased to have the opportunity to give my opinion about Dr. Jacks. On my first visit, she truly made me feel like I was her only patient, although I know that I am one of many. The moment she walked into the exam room, any tension that I may have had was eased. She made a challenging conversation feel comforting. I left the exam room inspired. When I updated my family about my journey, I told them about Dr. Jacks, her nurse, and the other staff that assisted me on my first visit. My sister spoke of her as "my angel." I just saw Dr. Karen Jacks for the first time after spending 4+ years at another oncology practice in town. NIGHT & DAY! She actually reviewed and was familiar with my case prior to my appointment and spent a few minutes talking to me, asking questions and listening. She was very upbeat and kind. She informed me that I could get my port flushed during my appointments as well as labs drawn there in the office through my chest port instead of having to go get labs offsite drawing from my one last drawable vein. She showed a genuine interest in me and my case. I only wish I had been able to see her and go to Comprehensive much sooner. Very grateful there is a better practice and doctor for me with access to more and better hospitals than previously as well. Being 10 minutes from my home is also a bonus.

I even flew back to CO to get a second opinion and thought I would give CCC a try when I came home because flying back and forth for Breast Cancer treatment would not be a good idea. I am SO happy I got her as my oncologist! She is so supportive and caring, doesn't question you if you talk about symptoms, will help as needed and is so sweet and caring. Careless care given to a long time patient as soon as metastasized... Entire family tells her that the patient isn't herself but because the patient recognizes the Karen Dr , the Karen Dr says she's not having cognitive issues... But sends her away ... What a complete joke of a Dr .... Insisted that steroids don't cause any psychological changes. Patient is showing dementia in testing but she's keeping the patient from getting the care she needs.. I read all of these positive reviews and I honestly wish that my mother in law received the same care and concern. My mother in law was under Dr. Jacks care for a little under 5 years. Initially the attention and concern shown to her was very good and appreciate. But once her cancer began to spread and she was in and out of hospital, Dr. Jacks and her team forgot about her. Every time she was admitted to hospital the oncology department would take PET scan to monitor cancer growth. Results always came back that cancer continued to spread throughout her bones, liver and brain. But each time she would follow up with Dr. Jacks she was told not to worry, cancer was not growing. Half the time my MIL was seen by Dr. Jacks MA due to Dr. Jacks being on vacation. (She seems to take ALOT of time off)
My MIL is now in hospice care with a short time to live. Even after calling Dr. Jacks office to inform them of her decline, not once has anyone called, no one! I wanted to share our experience because I feel a travesty has been done to my MIL under Dr. Jacks care.

Dr. Jacks cares about my quality of life, I know it with each visit. When I voice my concern about anything, she always wants to put my mind at ease. When I have a test scheduled, I’m always given a follow up appointment, so I never stress about when I’ll get my results. I never feel like my concerns aren’t important. Dr. Jacks was my first oncologist when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009. After being diagnosed, my surgeon who did a lumpectomy on me, told me that tho she didn't get a clean margin that she was comfortable with what she got. I repeated this to Dr. Jacks several times. She never said anything so I thought it was okay. Two years later she called me to tell me that I needed a mastectomy. At this point, I picked up my pathology report for my new surgeon and found out that my 1st surgeon had left a deep margin of DCIS in me. I could not believe that Dr. Jacks and my radiologist never said anything to me about how I should have a second surgery to get a clean margin. Tho it has been relayed to me that she did call the 1st surgeon to ask her "Shouldn't you call Sandy back for a second surgery to get a clean margin?" After being told "No, that's okay," by the surgeon, she NEVER said anything to me. I originally had been diagnosed with a very early stage 1 cancer with an oncotype score of 11, which meant that chances were good that it would not recur. I was told that my cancer was not aggressive. I have just found out that I am now a stage IV. I was a stage IIa after finding out the cancer had been found in two of my lymph nodes. after the mastectomy. I can't help but wonder if this would have occurred if Dr. Jacks had told me that I needed to have a clean margin and if the DCIS had not been allowed to marinate in me for two years before I was aware that so much had been left in me. Though it was the surgeon's responsibility to call me back for a second surgery, it was also Dr. Jack's responsibility to protect me from this bad surgeon and she didn't. I am now terrified and also very angry. Ironically, I felt safe at the time because I thought that having a team of women doctors would make me safer because they would fight for me, with the exception of my second surgeon, whom has been very protective of me, I now almost fear women doctors because of the first surgeon, Dr. Jacks and my radiologist at the time. They failed to protect and inform me and now my life is threatened. As I said earlier, I am terrified! This NEVER should have happened and I now have a nightmare to face because it has.
