Dr. Owen is great, so far I've only had my initial appointment but his demeanor was very nice. Listened to what I wanted and discussed everything with me. My LDL is a little high and he never mentioned statin's which other MDs always push. He could see by my other labs that it likely was not an issue and instead suggested a CAC Scan which is what I wanted anyway. Looking forward to my followup appointment after new labs and CAC scan.

Compassionate, efficient, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind - he is everything you could hope for in a family doctor. He truly listens, he understands, and he treats you like a person, not just a chart. You never feel rushed, yet everything runs smoothly and professionally every single time.
His office is just as incredible as he is. The entire staff is warm, welcoming, and on top of everything. The girls in the office are always friendly, organized, and make you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. The whole experience is seamless.

Updating my review from whenever I last rated. It has been over a year since I've heard from Dr. Owen. I had a phone appointment to discuss the possibility of reducing medications, but he didn't think that was the best thing to do. I trust his opinion. He wanted to add on another small prescription to help with the issues I had. I had no issue with that. However, I forgot to let him know that I was still breastfeeding. After the prescription had been called in and I was at the pharmacy, I asked the pharmacist who said it was probably best I didn't take it. I called Dr. Owen's office back to clarify and the nurse I talked to said she talked to him and I shouldn't take it until I'm through with breastfeeding. Here's where my issues started. I requested to see if there were other options for medications. The nurse told me she would talk to Dr. Owen and get back to me. I didn't hear anything. I called back a few weeks after, leaving a voicemail. Nothing. I've called MULTIPLE times, leaving MULTIPLE messages to try and get answers, and NOTHING. For over a year!!! This includes messages through the portal, with having someone respond saying they'd discuss it with Dr. Owen, and still NO ANSWERS. I'm fed up at this point and will be finding a different family doctor whose office actually answers or returns phone calls and messages.

Dr. Owen and the staff is one of the most caring and nicest professionals I've ever met in my entire life. Him and his nurse practitioners (one who I believe is his wife!) are incredibly kind, caring people who take the time to answer your questions. With that said, you must also be understanding and patient as sometimes waits are long here. However, this shouldn't put you off because waiting a long time to see or speak to Dr. Owen is absolutely worth it for the level of quality care you will receive. I would wait as long as they needed me to in the lobby than find another doctor - that's how great Dr. Owen and his staff are! But just as a head's up: don't have something super pressing that you must get to right after your appointments because of the possible long wait times. He also does telehealth (phone) appointments which are a great convenience to me. I am thankful for Dr. Owen and all his staff and - although it may mean longer times for me, haha - I recommend him to all. I needed to edit my review. This place has been an absolute nightmare. Dr. Owen is fantastic, but his office staff and the way it's run will definitely be the reason it eventually closes. You can book appointments online. Great, right? No. They never called to confirm (like it says they will), and it was a few days before I booked. I called and left multiple messages (because they don't answer the phone), and my call was never returned. Since the appointment wasn't confirmed, I assumed it didn't actually get scheduled. Two months later, I got a bill in the mail for missing an appointment. What? They're a joke and he mostly only takes cash now so don't even bother. It's not worth your time since they can't even respect yours.

Absolutely disgusting disregard for patients in need. I went in early on a Friday to get seen for pneumonia cough and was given only antibiotics for the treatment. They tried to prescribe a cough syrup but sent in the wrong one which I tried calling about before they closed at 2pm. They never answered so I had to wait until Monday. I call Monday and they don't give me a response til the next Thursday. Therefore I've suffered nearly a week with the worst cough of my life with no relief and instead of providing a medicine to help they just prescribed MORE antibiotics! I tried calling everyday of the week Monday they Thursday at different times and left messages but would receive no reply or if the receptionist felt like answering would get short one word non helpful response. Worst communication I've EVER seen from a medical office in my life! Complete waste of money coming here to get to no help whatsoever. Thanks for nothing!

Dr Owen has been my primary for three years or so, I see him monthly and he has been an excellent care provider. He listens, he asks questions, and he sincerely looks for the best way to help his patients. My partner and I went to see Dr Owen for your typical annual exam. He was friendly enough, but do not be fooled. The whole thing has been a complete disaster. First we got charged for consultation, when it should have been part of our annual visit. We have also received multiple bills from the various labs and bloodwork because things were not filed correctly. You would think this would be an easy fix. Well, getting in touch with the office in any way is quite impossible. They almost never answer their emails or their phones. And to be honest, when they do answer their phones the office staff isn?t friendly or understanding. The amount of time I have had to spend trying to get this resolved is ridiculous, and at this point in time it is still not fixed. I finally paid for the medical bill from his office, but am continuing to fight over the lab and bloodwork bills. We will never return and I truly hope you don’t either.

I have been seeing Dr Owen for over 2 years now and see him quite frequently. Dr Owen is a fantastic physician that takes the time to get to know his patients and takes a personal interest and care in their lives. In doing so, he does not rush his visits with patients. I have been to doctors’ offices where the office makes it a primary purpose to push as many patients through as quickly as possible. This practice is not employed at Las Vegas Family Medicine. The front office staff works incredibly hard at answering phones, making appointments, returning calls, calling insurance companies and other important functions. I have never had any problems getting appointments set or lab work done. Yes, there have been times where I had to call back later in the day, or perhaps the next, but I’ve always been taken care of. I try to allow enough time for my needs to be met. I don’t call and demand immediate action; I’m realistic and not self centered and self consumed. I don’t have unrealistic expectations of others. The entire staff works hard to make a small business work not just for themselves, but for the patients. Over the last two years I have gotten to know the staff on a personal level. I take the time to talk with them and hear about their families and challenges. Too many people today are selfish and unreasonable; it’s unfortunate to see negative comments that really aren’t constructive or often times even accurate. Running a small business is not small endeavor. Most people don’t know a single thing about doing so and it’s really apparent.

Haven’t really had to deal with the medical field till I came down with a serious condition that has required me to be in the doctor’s office each and every week for the past 6-7 months. And that’s to see my normal doctor and now a surgeons office.

I work in a customer service field that is not always full of happy people. Most of the time pissed off people cause their car is broke down so I know it’s hard to take care of the public perfectly every single time. Not every visit is going to be what you want it to be. Meaning just cause you come in a place of business and want something doesn’t mean it can always happen as you want it to. They can only do so much with so many hours in a day. And trust me dealing with the people at this office they do their best with what they can. They have proven that to me.

But I must say again l never really have had to deal with a medical office before but going to this office and seeing Dr Owen’s and his staff. Going to this office has made my concerns a lot easier to manage and get the help that l need. I feared from the start that l would be run around for some time till I got real help but Dr Owen’s and his staff has made this a lot easier and as painless as they possibly can.

From the great help that I always get from the front desk ladies with them understanding my needs to the doctor taking my concerns very serious. This is a place l would recommend to a person looking for a great family doctor’s office.

Dr. Owen I hope you have the time to read my review. Your office has gone downhill and you need to fix it up as soon as possible. I have gone to you for years and it became frustrating the last couple of visits.

First of all, your front desk and your billing person sucks. They messed up my billing by sending the wrong code to my insurance. Insurance ended up charging us unreasonable amount and we have been trying to call your office and the lab so many times and we ended up receiving collection letter because we would not pay for the bill we SHOULDN’T pay.

Second, your front desk sucks again. Stop hiring unprofessional people just to fill up the spot. Calling to book appointments with you has been a struggle. They never answered the phone during business hours. Calls were hit and miss and they weren’t professional answering the phone. I don’t want to see no damn spider neck tattoo and botox lips and chewing gum when I go the family doctor office. This is not a cosmetic clinic but FAMILY physician.

Third, if you won’t receive any particular insurance, I get it - doctors need to make profit as well, but you need to email/call all your patients and let them know. Or let them know when they are able to book the appointment. I have tried for almost a month just to book the appointment and today your front desk told me your office won’t take my insurance. She didn’t even check what type of insurance I had until I came up and talked to her. I pay $800 god damn dollars for my insurance every month and she treated me like I was in Medicare. Either cancel or cash that’s what she told me. This is not how you treat your loyal patients and any patient at all.

Im a business owner and my family also own clinics in town. I understand the struggle running the business but this is unacceptable and you lost me on this one Dr.

I was scheduled to have a telehealth appt with Dr. Owen today at 11:10 AM. This visit was to review the abnormal results of my lab work and radiology report. I had been told by the office staff that on the day of my appt I would receive a call from the office and would be “checked-in,” prior to the scheduled time of my appt. However, the time of my appt went by with no call from the office.

I called the office at 11:39 AM, and spoke with Diane. I told her that I was calling about my appt. Diane then asked if my insurance was still the same, Cigna PPO, to which I replied “yes.” Diane proceeded to tell me that effective today, Dr. Owen was no longer taking my insurance plan and I would have to pay out-of-pocket $120 for the telehealth visit. I told Diane that I was never given any advanced notice that my plan would no longer be accepted (as is required), and I was not going to pay for the visit. Diane stated that there are notices posted throughout the office concerning the changes being implemented with Cigna PPO patients, so I “should’ve known.”

I called Cigna’s customer service department and I advised the agent of what I was told. The agent advised me that the contract with the provider was NOT terminated and there was no documented contract cancellation request by the provider; therefore the doctor is still in network and should NOT be demanding I pay out-of-pocket like a non-insured patient. The agent also submitted a grievance so that the provider relations rep assigned to this office can further investigate.

Despite this, I went to the office this afternoon and spoke to Dr. Owen. Arriving at the office, I noted that there were numerous “notices” posted at their front desk window, however NONE were regarding any changes to patients with Cigna PPO plans (photo attached); therefore what Diane stated to me was false.

I expressed to Dr. Owen my concerns regarding the issues with my insurance and the fact that none of the information told to me by his staff was corroborated by my insurance. Dr. Owen began to overwhelm me with his complaints about not receiving adequate pay by insurance plans and he admitted to the fact that his staff is asking for cash payments. I told Dr. Owen that his complaints regarding pay needed to be brought to the attention of the contractors with the insurance companies, as the pay rates he currently receives was agreed upon by him per the contracts. In addition, I stated to him that, as a patient, I should not be placed in the middle of these contract disputes, in that I am being denied care unless I pay cash similar to a non-insured patient. He continued to express his frustrations, however he reviewed the lab results and the radiology report with me, and provided a referral without charging me the $120. While I have obtained what I needed, I still feel the need to submit this complaint because Dr. Owen is authorizing his staff to seek additional payments from his patients to supplement what he is not receiving from the insurance companies, which is not appropriate. And in fact, many insurance companies contain clauses in their contracts which explicitly prohibit the collection of cash payments (obviously the exception being co-payments, deductibles, etc.), and mandates that the provider directly bill the insurance company for any covered services provided to their insured members.

Dr Owen is great but his staff doesn’t seem to care about his patients! I have called five different times to have them put my referral in the portal. This started over two weeks ago. It’s still is not in the portal and I had Humana call them this morning and they said it would be another 4 to 5 days before it can get done.

Needless to say, I will never be going back to Dr Owen’s office again. I called Humana and got a new doctor I can’t go to a doctors office that doesn’t take care of you!

I am so sad to give this place 3 stars. I went several times to be seen and the staff was friendly and so was the Dr. but I’ve been calling for a week now and left 2 voice mails in regard to a test I did. I haven’t heard about my results or gotten a call back. I went on March 12 and it’s April 4th now. I did let them know I would give them the opportunity to call me back as they do specify that you need to give them time to resolve your issue before writing a negative review. Both myself and my 8 year old see Dr Owen, and we love him. He is kind, personable and actually listens to you. The phlebotomist and nurses we have interacted with have been wonderful too. This office is a malpractice suit waiting to happen. Dr. Owen is great and one of the ONLY reason I'm giving this place 3 stars. The rest of the office is nice in person but absolute incompetence/ negligence from the person in charge of auths. For reference I am currently 8 months pregnant and recently switched pharmacies, in which one of my meds needed a new pre-auth sent for the new pharmacy. My appt. was on a Thursday, the following Tuesday I gave them a call to double check if this was sent in, one of the women answered that the person who does pre-auths is still working on it but assured me this would get done that day. Okay cool. Fast forward to TWO WEEKS later and I call my insurance because the pharmacy doesn't have authorization to give me my meds. My insurance states they never received it and then called the office to verify where it was sent, they were told THE WOMEN WHO DOES AUTH. DID NOT EVEN SUBMIT IT. Apparently this women works from home, but does she? Mind you, there is an auth already on file, just for a different pharmacy. Finally someone from the office is looking into it and hopefully this will get done by the end of the day (Friday) as next week will be THREE WEEKS without my medication because of this negligence (this is also NOT the first time they have dropped the ball on medications or records). I did not think this is something that I still have to be dealing with, especially at 8 months pregnant.

Update** the woman who I spoke with today did get my authorization handled. There are some staff that do try and compensate for the others who lack, however this has been a re-occurring problem with anytime my medications switch with getting authorizations sent or records transfered. The fact of the matter is, it can be dangerous for people to go without medications that they normally take on a daily basis due to this issue. Unfortunately, that does bring down the office but there are some employees who do put in the effort.

It's too bad. Dr Owen is great. His staff.....not so much. zero email replies, zero callbacks. Left 3 messages, sent 2 emails and verbally talked with two different people on two different days this week to get a simple refill request for a chronic medication that will run out. Will be looking into a new doctors office as my partner and I have both had nothing but issues with our prescriptions being sent to the wrong locations or simply not ever being sent, like today.

It took less than 24 hours for you to respond to a public review while I had no response from multiple emails and phone calls over the course of 4 business days. I know my med requires a visit which is what I did in December along with the blood work. I've explained to your office staff that the original prescription written for 90 days could only be filled for 30 due to insurance limitations and I was only requesting the other part of the original Rx [60 days] in 30 day increments due to insurance . You authorized 90 days. I went to fill it for 90 days and the insurance said they'd only cover 30 days at the time of fill back in December. 90 days from December 7th puts me to well into March. Then in March I come in as I have been for a visit for another 90 days. It's only been december.... now I am out of my medication thanks to your staffs incompetence and lack of ability to do basic math. 90 day... 30 days. Let's all have a basic math lesson together. December 7th plus 90 days equals??? I'll give you a hint. It's not January 2nd, 3rd, 4th of 5th like when I was calling and emailing for the next 30 days refill. Sheesh.

Dr Owen and the whole staff are always amazing, I love being able to call for an appointment or book online. They send out confirmations pretty quick & definitely work with your schedule. I have never waited more than 10 minutes in the waiting room or when waiting for Dr Owen, he is very patient and listens to every concern, he’s very pleasant and easy to talk to, I absolutely love his bedside manner. The only good thing I have to say about this practice is that Dr. Owens is nice. Outside of that, this office is horrible! The staff is highly incompetent and ineffective. I have never dealt with such unprofessionalism in my life! My lab work was miscoded causing the services to apply towards my deductible in error and they refuse to correct their mistake. I've gone into the office and have spoken to someone about it multiple times with no resolve. I've even filed complaints with the Board of Orthopedic Medicine and the Better Business Bureau and they can't be bothered to respond to the complaint.

They also had the audacity to try to bill me for a service from 2021 for which I received my very first invoice for in May 2023. It's been so long, I can't even appeal the claim if I wanted to! The general rule of thumb and a well ran office is that if a patient doesn't receive an invoice withing ONE year from the claim's processing date, the charge is written off. On top of that, some female claiming to be the office manager called me last month threatening to send me to collections for it. I told her I was not going to pay it and she didn't even have sense enough to ask why. These are the types of people running offices which is quite frightening.

If you are someone that doesn't understand insurance and needs an office to be honest and knows what they're doing, DO NOT go to this office... you will be highly disappointed.

I like the ease of scheduling online, the staff is friendly, and Dr Owen is personable and helpful. They can do pelvic exams there and have a phlebotomist onsite so you don’t have to run around to so many other places to get things done.

This is the worst and most negligent private practice I’ve ever encountered. They do no respond to calls or emails and it is incredibly difficult to get an appointment. They also do not correspond with the patient about prescription refill requests in a timely manner. As a result, I have gone without vital medication for over a week.
This practitioner does not show any personal interest or concern for the patients.

First visit, I just relocated to Las Vegas and wanted a good physician close to home. I read the previous great reviews, so I was hopeful. The location is great, right in my neighborhood.

My first appointment was very easily made online and it wasn’t a long wait. You will also receive reminder messages confirming your appointment, which is good for me because I’m always forgetting my appointments .

The staff and Doctor are super friendly and professional. I was greeted immediately and didn’t have to wait long before I was called to the back.

Doctor Owen is sweet, very nice, and easy to talk too. He listened to my needs and made the proper medical decisions. He’s also helping me get caught up on my health maintenance. Thank God I found this Provider.

Now I’m in search of a local Dentist and Optician, wish me luck.

My son had to get a blood test after being hospitalized for 2 nights. So it was supposed to be 2 to 7 days after being released. My wife called on Thurs she asked about getting blood test explaining the situation. The receptionist said she needed the child to have a check up first then put her on hold and ended up leaving her on for 10 minutes then hanging up. I called a few minutes after and asked the same question. The receptionist told me I could just walk in not mentioning they would be closed the next day. Friday June 30th for 4th of July weekend. We end up showing up around 12 in the afternoon some one at the desk Cale and told us they were closed in a rood manor.

In response to the business's reply, I did give them an opportunity to correct the issue by telling them why I was leaving, but they did not offer a resolution. Additionally, I understand the need for lunch but 1PM appointments should not be scheduled if your staff end their lunch AFTER that time. I agree that the check-in process was quick but it could have been started much sooner had the desk simply handed me the paperwork before assisting another customer for 10+ minutes with a billing issue (who had arrived after me, by the way). I was not given the opportunity to "choose my provider" so I don't know what was meant by that. Lastly, you still didn't comment on the over-an-hour wait which was the main issue.

First, people should be aware that this practice asks patients to sign a document agreeing to not post negative reviews, which may explain this practice's high average review. However, this provision is void per the Consumer Review Fairness Act. Today I had a new-patient appointment with Dr. Owen at 1 PM and arrived 15 minutes early. It didn't matter, because the front desk was closed for lunch until 1:05, and they didn't even finish checking me in until about 1:20. I then waited about another hour before leaving because I had ran out of time, without ever being seen. Additionally, after my vitals were taken, I was made aware that my appointment was to see a nurse, not Dr. Owen, despite the doctor being listed on my appointment confirmation. I was really looking forward to seeing Dr. Owen today, but this practice really let me down.

I reviewed blood work results myself and it’s clear that there’s signs of pre diabetes and anemia. No call or prescription from doctor. Called regarding my results & medication request from my pharmacy, due to no strength was written on Rx. Receptionist that answers the phone was extremely rude, I asked for a manager and she said we are all managers here. I requested to leave a msg for Doctor, she stated that I would have to pay a copay for a telephone call. She never confirmed the day or date, all she did was mumbled and said have a great day and hang up the call. Will be calling my insurance to share what type of service this office provides. First time coming here and the Nurse Practitioner was great. She was very detailed and showed much interest in my situation. Went there with chest congestion that's been going on for months. She ordered a CT scan and lab work. Didn't get the lab work done because I keep forgetting to fast. Anyways she also suggested taking mucinex which actually seems to be working. Looking for a new Family dr and I think I made a good choice.

I haven't been fond of Doctors since the early 2000's when I returned from deployment. I've visited multiple VA's and was always disappointed with treatment. I've visited multiple Civilian Doctors and felt the same. My wife finally talked me into seeing another Civilian Doctor 3 years ago. She made me the appointment and scheduled everything. That appointment was with Dr. Owen. I find myself actually looking forward to visiting the Doctor now. He isn't just my Physician, he's like a friend I can talk to when I go. 42 years old and have never seen a better Doctor than him!

My general doctor, Rulon Owen, told me that I have cancer. We then set an appointment with the oncologist. A week went by of fear, worry, and tears. When I went to the oncologist, a full week later, he said that had no cancer, but only a benign tumor, and only a small surgery needed to remove it.
The worry and fear this caused for me and my family was nearly overwhelming.
Later, I went to my primary care physician again, and he gave his explanations, with an “apology” — but the week of crying with my loved ones had already happened. The doctor then said that the mammogram biopsy report is not always 100% right. So why would he make a diagnosis and tell the patient, in such a sure way, that she has cancer…
This was a horrible, frightening experience for me and my family, and I would never want anyone else to have to go through thinking that they have terminal illness, when they do not. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor by staying far away from this doctor!

Giving this place 2 stars only because Dr. Owen was pleasant. However the desk girl sent my prescription to the wrong pharmacy. Normally its not a big deal. They just correct it and send it over to the right pharmacy. But the extremely rude and unprofessional girl working at the desk had the AUDACITY to tell me that it was my fault that it was sent to the wrong place. She accused me of giving them false information in regards to where my prescriptions needed to be sent. So not only did she refuse to take responsibility for my prescription being sent to the wrong place, but she basically told me that it would be a hassle for them to correct the mistake! She told me to just pick it up at the wrong pharmacy so she did not have to deal with it. God forbid I inconvenience HER for screwing up my information. Will not be going back.
