Excellent experience. Got in as a last minute appointment due to cancelation and did a very thorough job ordering tests, etc. Also corresponded with me with messages in a timely manner. I am very impressed and looking to see if I can now make him my primary care doctor. Thank you.

Not a good experience. Too busy to help, but did read my messages as I got sicker and had more symptoms and pain and did nothing about it. What was a simple medical issue when I first saw Dr. Ticman has evolved to severe pain and inevitable death due to there being no sense of urgency. The torture and pain Dr. Ticmann thrives on inflicting upon people who have nothing to him but overpay him for negligence and acts of reckless malpractice is sadistic and repulsive. Perhaps Southwest Medical should vet their staff before subjecting people who are sick and hurting to sadistic slackers. Dr. Ticman shouldn't even be allowed to work around others.

Dr Ticman was quite thorough. They notified me right away about a breast biopsy and immediately sent me to Breast Care where they were very careful managing my case
I was lucky biopsy was benign
I did appreciate the alertness and efficiency they exercised in my case,
The only thing about Southwest Medical is that you have to always leave a message with the operator
You can’t speak directly with the doctor’s office.

Disappointed in the bedside manner I received at my last appointment. He was rushed, agitated and was going to prescribe a medication that would conflict with and existing condition until I brought to his attention. After waiting almost 6 months, I’ll find a new doctor.

Dr Ticman is a passionate doctor that genuinely wants to help his patients in getting better. If you are into low carb, he is very well read and up to date on the latest scientific research on LCHF. I highly recommend him!

Revised 10/8. Several of the referrals given to me at that first appt way back in April were incorrect or incomplete. I had to physically go to the office multiple times to get paper copies of referrals because the staff would not process them correctly. Their incompetence led to a delay in seeing my nephrologist. I did complain to my insurance, only to find that United Healthcare owns SMA and Optum, so my complaint fell on deaf ears. I have switched PCPs (I couldn't even wait out the year for a descent doctor). I have also switched insurance plans (effective Jan 1).

Revised: 5/29. Out of 4 prescriptions from this office, I'm still trying to get 2 done correctly. It's nearly impossible to get things done with SMA. Calls are not returned. Optum RX is completely incompetent. The doctor himself was okay, but his support staff has proven to be difficult. I hope I can afford to change plans at open enrollment to get far away from anything Optum.

Original review: 4/29. Because of an insurance change, I need to change all of my doctors including my primary. I am chronically ill (lupus) so I have 13 specialists. This was my first time seeing Dr Ticman (my new PCP). He was a little testy, but he did all my referrals and prescriptions. He also seems knowledgeable.
I'm still getting used to how Southwest Medical operates. But I was able to get in for an appointment within a couple of days. Dr Ticman gave me everything I needed in one visit. And, he seems to know his trade. So far, I'd recommend Dr Ticman (just know he seems to get frustrated when he's got to do a bunch of computer work, but I don't blame him. I can only imagine the hoops he jumps though for insurance company and medical board requirements).
