I love Pointe North Dental and Dr. Kim. I've been a patient here for at least 15 years and my visits are always very pleasant. From the moment I walk in, the front office staff is amazing (full circle moment, Evelyn was a past student of mine), my wait time is 5 minutes or less, and Teresa always takes care of me in ensuring my teeth are cleaned to perfection. This dentist has poor communication -- he worked on 10 of my teeth and I had to go back on four different occasions for adjustments to the work he did due to pain and sensitivity. He also suggested he needed to redo one of my fillings he had done, with no admission of what he had done wrong or why it failed to work.

April 11, 2025. When I called to book, I was told someone would call me back to confirm whether they accepted my insurance. If not, the office would let me know the out-of-pocket cost. Unfortunately, that call never came.

When I arrived at the office, I was greeted by one staff member, then another asked for my ID and insurance card. After reviewing my card, she informed me they were out of network and that the consultation would cost $350. I was completely caught off guard because no one had informed me beforehand.

I left with a painful tooth and no treatment. I understand that offices can be busy, but verifying insurance ahead of time — especially when it’s promised — helps avoid wasting both the patient’s and the office’s time. I’m very disappointed with the lack of communication and follow-through.

After many yrs & dollars previously spent on repairing my teeth in California, at age 66, it was time to have them all pulled and implants put in. Thankfully we found Dr Kim here in Nevada. Yes it was a bit painful but no fault of the Drs. I had many root canals and crowns. The pain only lasted maybe 3 days after Dr Kim pulled and placed the posts.

In January I had permanent implants placed. Oh my I am so impressed they fit perfectly and felt so good to be able to eat certain foods again. I was immediately able to eat corn on the cob, steak, apples with no difficulty!

Sorry for taking so long for this review, I guess I was waiting for something to go wrong however THANKFULLY it has not. I love the staff and all personnel there they all have been amazing!

On Nov 20th I was told my new bridge would cost $6700. I had to pay upfront and the office would bill my insurance.

We have used Dr. Kim for over 8 years. Never a problem. He is a one man office so at times he can be very busy. I had previously posted a negative review about my new dentures. Not only did they not fit correctly they were not even close to fitting. After my post the office manager called me. She made me an appointment and asked me to bring my dentures with me. Dr. Kim put them in and out of my mouth twice. He then said, these will never fit. We are going to start all over from the beginning. That is exactly what I felt was needed. After three visits for impressions and fittings I received my finished product today. A PERFECT FIT! Doctor Kim did what needed to be done to correct a problem. Lady who assigns appointments over the phone does a very poor job in explaining services provided/ what to expect.
She placed me on hold but forgot who she was speaking to, then proceeded to tell me information that was not related to me.

I would not recommend this office. I went for an initial exam, they took x-rays, and I met Dr. Kim. He did an initial procedure using a sharp hook thing; he hit a nerve or something that caused my whole body to jump and my eyes to tear up. He said "I didn't even do it that hard".
He said one of my wisdom teeth needed to be removed, and offered to do it *that day*. I explained that I had to drive out of town the next day for work and he said it would be "no big deal". I said that no, I was not prepared to have any procedures done that day and he just shrugged. Then he pointed out something on my arm and scoffed. I was so surprised I didn't even know what to say.
At this point, I knew he was rude and I wasn't comfortable with him, but I needed a deep cleaning and I'd already spent over $200 copay for the x-rays and everything. So I figured I'd proceed and get the work done, and find someone else later.

The day of my exam, I walked in and the receptionist was out. The lady who handles insurance information was there to check me in. She asked my name, then she said "that'll be $250". I asked if I could see the printout of charges which explains how that number is reached. She sighed and acted as though I was asking something ridiculous (who DOESN'T want to see the list of charges? It was a completely reasonable request). She had her back to me, pulling it up I guess, and when I explained that I just wanted to see the charges, she told me I "didn't need to get an attitude about it". I was honestly shocked. There was more said, including her telling me "fine, we already went through it but whatever", but I think you're getting the gist.

Now, I have a lot of anxiety surrounding anything dental, thanks to an early childhood of numerous orthodontic procedures and contraptions. I have sensitive teeth, and I already did not trust the dentist to be gentle, kind, or empathetic. So that snide little comment and another dose of rudeness from this office pushed me right over the edge into a full-fledged panic attack. I ended up in tears, and did not want to be there AT ALL, and I certainly didn't want to be subjected to more of the "care" this office provides. The only up side of this whole fiasco was that there was nobody in the lobby at the time.

I was texting my wife asking if she thought I could just go, and the lady must have at least felt a little bad, because she offered me some tissues and I explained that being of accused of having an attitude for having a legitimate question, on top of my dentist anxiety. She said that if I had told them I had dental anxiety, she would have marked it in my chart. WHY do I need to share personal information to be treated with kindness and respect? That should be the norm!

Anyway, that's my experience. I will never be back, and hopefully I'll have helped someone else avoid the awful treatment here.

You can see that it must have been bad, because if you check my reviews, I very rarely leave anything other than 5 stars. But this was too much to ignore. And the one star is for the receptionist, who is super nice and was very helpful when I first went to get checked in. She must be there to lull people into a false sense of security for what comes next. ha

Due to horrible past experiences i was terrified when i went it to See Dr Kim. I had to have an implant. Dr Kim and staff tried to make me feel comfortable. Great service, fast, to the point, great pricing, no BS. The only criticism I have is that I could have used some more pain med as I had an impacted tooth extracted and I am a rather large guy 6'6" 350 and have taken the pills that were prescribed already. Now it hurts pretty bad, but I will get over it soon hopefully. I don't want to make it sound like they aren't great at what they do though - great service. Most people will probably be fine with the pain relief they provide. I will definitely keep coming back.

Had a broken wisdom tooth repaired this morning by Dr. Kim. My former dentist said it couldn't be repaired and that it needed to be removed along with the upper wisdom tooth. Dr. Kim filled the tooth and I was in and out in just over an hour with great results.

Just left the dentist and got my teeth cleaned. Dr Kim is the greatest & he's so cute. I let the office know I'm afraid of the dentist and they respected this and was great. I also got a root canal and Dr. Kim did the best job ever. Crystal was a great assistant with the doctor while doing my surgery. The front desk girl Tavia was so awesome with getting me in last minute. The check in process was great practically no wait at all. The financial process and payment options were convenient if I needed them. The check out was smooth and painless (lol) Michelle was great at helping me make my future appointments. I also have to say Nicole is the best hygienest in the office. Paige also was great at polishing my teeth after my cleaning. Hands down I will always come to this office as long as he's in business!! This office gets 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️'s!!!!!
