I had a great experience from the moment I walked in. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the visit very comfortable. Dr. Loo took the time to answer all of my questions and address my concerns without making me feel rushed, which I really appreciated.

I wish I had the name of the medical assistant who brought me back and completed my initial assessment, because they were wonderful as well. It’s clear that this practice is doing something right—the staff all seemed genuinely happy and worked well together.

This was the first time I came to this location the reason was I feel dr.lui is fantastic and I feel comfortable and confident with my needs of eye treatment with her so I traveled quite a distance to see her. The one thing is when walked in not greeted by staff or noticed. But the staff bringing me in to test me the young lady was so kind and patient with me and the young man who walked me to see dr. I was referred to Dr Calvo at this office over two years ago because I had a torn retina. He performed surgery the same day and everything turned out well. Dr Calvo was amazing but he left the practice and I was referred to Dr Loo for yearly follow ups. The service has not been the greatest with the long waits but yesterday was the worst. A sign says that the appointments can take 2.5-3 hours. That’s okay if your procedure takes that long. But not ok if you’re waiting15-20 minutes to be called, eye exam and dilation about 10 minutes and the rest of the time is just sitting and waiting. That’s unacceptable but they seem to think it’s okay because they put a sign on the wall telling you it’s going to take that long. There were approximately 15 people waiting to see the one and only doctor, Dr Loo. Are you kidding me? That’s called overbooked and understaffed. But the front desk guy kept saying that the sign says it could take 2.5-3 hours as if that makes sitting and waiting for that long okay. I told them that my time is just as valuable and no way am I waiting for the doctor with all these people. Others were irritated too. I cancelled and left. No way will I go back to see a doctor who has zero respect for my time. That practice really needs improvement.

Nobody ever explained that you sit for 2 to 3 hours waiting to see the doctor. The assistant gets you in right away, does all her procedures, dialiate the eye, then you sit in a room. Waiting for the doc to even come in for the day. I've never had to wait an hour and half for my eyes to dialiate before. When I asked the doc why he schedule people this way, I got an attitude!!!! SHAME SHAME DOCTOR!!!! MY TIME IS JUST AS VALUABLE AS YOURS.

My surgeon was excellent but post surgery appointments scheduling caused me significant hardship during my recovery. My surgery was retinal hole repair and the surgeon told to remain face-down for 3 weeks. The office pre scheduled 1 day post & 1 week post surgery appointments but not 3 weeks post appointment. After my 1 week visit, I was told the front desk person 3 weeks post time is not available and earliest time would be 4 weeks post-surgery. I don’t understand why 3 weeks appointment was not scheduled in advance. This forced me to stay face-down 1 week longer before the doctor visit.
Also, the office told me there is no other choice, I can take it or leave it.
I felt this was lack of planning, compassion & no effort to resolve the issue from doctor’s office.
I hope management reviews this issue so other patients don’t experience the same problem.
Update to my review: I called for any appointment cancellation and he told me post-surgery appointments are another dependent and someone called me back to change the appointment.
I appreciate that.

I acquired endophthalmitis post injection in November 2024. This is the most severe form of eye infection with significant vision loss and with multiple surgeries to stabilize. However, I’m still receiving kickback and attitudes from staff about practicing safe aseptic techniques. Nicolette who did the intake exams on this visit gave a reluctant and upset attitude when I asked that the tonometry machine eye piece and dropper tips be wiped off with alcohol wipes. In the past I’ve had techs touch my eyelashes many times with the multi patient use bottles.

During checkout, Angela Glover rudely with a loud and nasty tone in front of other patients and staff insisted that I pay my copayment which had already been paid at the kiosk. She wouldn’t stop yelling until she sat down and saw that I had paid. No apology from her. There is nothing warm or comforting when Angela Glover speaks, ever. Zero tactfulness. No patient should go through this after having an invasive procedure.

RCN is not patient centric and shows no human kindness. RCN also has a large turnaround rate with staffing.

I’m sure that the response to this review will be to call them to discuss which would lead to nothing. Angela Glover is as far as you can get at RCN. Someone take the reins and make this a safe and pleasant experience during each visit for all clients, the patients. Remember, the patient should be center stage.

Excellent medical care. But checking in is done solely by a computer without any human assistance,. Computer only allows checking in 10 minutes prior to appointment but once checked in the waiting time can be excessive. If traveling any distance to your appointment this check in seems cold and an insult. Computer also requires patient to reinter their information rather than to allow an option for “no change”. This system is a hardship ( and possible illegal failure to acccomodate a disability) for patients that have a high probability of having a problem either their eyesight to start with.

You're just another number here. They're supposed to be the specialist, able to identify issues that other eye professionals cannot. They do bare minimum work. Offer no answers. They operate on a let's wait and see type of motion. As someone who was referred there to get answers, but found that my urgent need for clarity and help is not urgent for them. I was told "no news is good news" after the Dr looking in my eye for 3 minutes. Although I still have the same issues and complaints I was referred there to resolve, I was asked to come back in a year. During which, anything could happen.
These people are not very caring or helpful. Just another business.

I would’ve given a 5 stars, doctor & staff are to be complimented for their professionalism. I suggest the office as a whole would need to redo their scheduling system. It’s posted that appointments take 2 to 3 hours. After the preliminary eye tests, I waited over 2-1/2 hours to see the doctor in a roomful of patients, at first there wasn’t even room for me to sit, had to wait in the lobby! I don’t think waiting over 2-1/2 hours for 5minutes with the doctor makes any sense! And I am sure I am not the only patient feeling this way!

This office runs like clockwork, once you start treatment it's step by step by step with no delays. The first time is was great, this time the doctor was hurried and didn't wait for the numbing agent to take effect and I really felt the shot in my eye. Originally I went to the Summerlin location and saw Dr "Y" and thought he was great but he never did any procedures for me. My eyes started getting really bad from a procedure done by a greedy eye doctor with his own practice. He destroyed my eyes forever. I relocated to Boulder City & now see Dr. Wickens. I truly believe he is by far the best eye doctor I have ever met! I trust him immensely. He's professional, extreamly knowledgable & kind. Dr. Wickets is amazing, particularly the demand on his time! All of the assistants were warm and welcoming. The number of patients being run through is astounding and the feeling of being "processed" can't be avoided. The only criticism would be regarding the administrators/check-in personel who were cold and harsh. Very common in medical facilities.

Went to Retina Consultants on a referral from my Dr. at Shepard Eye Specialists due to an incident over the Christmas weekend. They were able to get me in due the critical nature of my condition. I was very pleased the I could get in within a two day window, what a blessing. All the staff were extremely professional and kind. I notified the scheduler that im being picked up and dropped off by RTC paratransit. They scheduled my appointment at 9:,15am , arrived at 8:45, I couldn't checkin until 9:10. To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the experience I had during my recent visit to your office.

Upon arrival, I was told that my wife’s insurance did not list me on the policy. After taking the time to resolve this issue, no one informed me that the correction had been accepted. I waited an additional hour without any communication from staff.

After finally being called back—approximately 1.5 hours later—I was then told that I needed pre‑approval before I could be seen. At that point, I had no choice but to leave the appointment.

Despite not receiving any medical service, I was informed that I would still be charged for the office visit. In effect, I am being billed for waiting due to errors and lack of communication on your end.

To make matters worse, the staff member checking patients out was extremely rude to me and to another patient. This was, without question, the worst medical visit I have ever experienced.

I am requesting the following:

- Removal of any charges associated with this visit
- Confirmation that my insurance information is correctly documented
- Assurance that this matter will be addressed with the staff involved

I do not feel confident that this issue will be resolved without formal documentation, which is why I am submitting this complaint in writing.

I expect a response regarding how this situation will be corrected.

My appointment was for 1 p.m. Check-in at the kiosk was quick and easy. Within a few minutes I was called to the reception desk to finish checking in. Dr. Loo was warm and friendly. He listened with appropriate concern and respect. My condition is on observation at this point so Dr. Loo wants to see me again in 6 weeks. Until then his prescription was for me to relax and avoid stress and worry. He made some suggestions for doing that and helped me be hopeful for a positive outcome. I feel like I received the best care. It is possible that my condition can resolve on its own so I'm following Dr. Loo's suggestions and looking forward to my next visit.

Retina Consultants is a very professionally run facility. The staff seem to always remember me by name and are proficient and personable. I can sincerely convey that I am fully confident that my Dr. knows exactly what he's doing and that I am in very capable hands. I tend to get the impression that those who complain about medical providers are looking for some sort of social experience... which is not to say some providers not only don't give competent care but can be less than personal. You have to check in at a kiosk which is difficult when you have diminished sight. The office staff are unfriendly. One of the girls at the front desk was chewing gum in a most unattractive way. The wait to see the doctor after having my eyes checked and pictures taken was over an hour, while he ate lunch. Don't schedule during lunch time. The doctor is competent but the whole experience of being there is less than pleasant.

They don't make it fun or even try to. Feels like a factory. Had a 9:10 appointment was in there about three hours most of the time waiting. I got the feeling they just don't care about you or your time that it doesn't matter. I know you have to wait for the drops to work and all that but it's not my first rodeo it shouldn't take as long as it did. I felt like cattle in their waiting room. They squeezed me in--tyvm! Dr. Wickens is extremely thorough and accurate. He went to one of the top med schools. He is highly intelligent. Dr. Wickens got an excellent look at my retinas. His staff was very nice and helpful. The place is busy. The waiting room is full of retinas. They accommodate everyone. It's a huge responsibility to take care of the bulging population of Las Vegas with the limited number of retina specialists in town--but they do it. The parking lot is full, too. There are a lot of buildings connected to a maze of parking lots. Pay attention to the street address and look for the '710' on the building. They are on the 2nd floor. Bring sunglasses inside with you. You'll need them when you leave. And remember where you parked.

I have been going to this Dr. for 13 years. He is a fine Man and great eye Dr. The set up could be better. First, we, as almost blind old people, must check in to a Kiosk. You cannot be more than 10 minutes early to check in. Then we sit for as long as 2 hours waiting to find out if we need an eye needle. I suggest a bit more organization and things to occupy our time. Dr Jason Wickens is a great doctor. I saw him for a macular pucker in one eye, but he examined both eyes and found a tear in my retina in the other eye! He immediately repaired the tear and continues to monitor my eyes for problems. His "bedside manner" has improved over the two years I have been seeing him.

I've been going to Retina Consultants for over 30 years and was seen by Dr. Roger Simon until his retirement a few years back. He always commented how well I've been able to control my Type 1 diabetes and keep my A1c below 6.5. My current doctor under RC of NV that I've seen for 3-4 years, has diagnosed a little over a year ago that I have macular edema occuring in one eye. That doesn't really surprise me as I've diabetes for 57 years and I'm aware that the dusease affects eye health. I get the feeling she really wants to push an eye injection, but tells me that better control over my diabetes (What?), lose weight (@ 177lbs) and personal changes of more exercises, follow a diabetic diet, and hold back on the salt intake may help my condition. I've no idea why she hadn't mentioned salt earlier. That came out of no where. Would a blood chemistry convey high levels of sodium chloride? She's never ordered one.

I’ve been seeing Dr Calvo for the past year a half and have always had a good experience during my visit. I recently had an appointment which went well but when I was ready to leave the people who work in the checkout needs some training. We stood there, without being acknowledged, for over 5 mins.
