My insurance pays for my annual eye exam. They refused to actually bill the insurance for the eye exam part, leaving a balance. I spoke with my insurance and they stated if they’d bill for the exam it would be paid. I informed the billing department this and they still wouldn’t bill them. I went in for a medically required appointment and was told that the notes in their system states I said I’d pay the balance, which was never stated. I was then informed either I pay the amount or I would not be seen. I paid it because the appointment was medically necessary. I requested a print out showing the balance was for the actual eye exam so I could at least submit it for reimbursement. But was told they could not do that.

I had even shown them the comparison if the EOB they provided vs the EOB from my insurance and it clearly shows they only billed for the doctor part of that visit.

If I had known, in advanced, they would not bill for the eye exam part and d have to pay for it I’d have gone to where I normally got my eye exams. (Which, btw, bills and gets paid 100% for the eye exam).

$50 may not seem like much to them but when you live on a very limited budget that amount means less food to put in the table this month.

Regardless of how much I may like the providers there I will definitely find a different practice from now on.

The check-in process was very efficient and the waiting period seemed to have been shortened. My appt was at 0950am and I was out of there by 11am. My previous doctor, Dr. Hansen has retired and I'm happy to say that my new doctor , Dr. B. Lee was as nice and interactive as Dr. Hansen. His asst was also nice. Most of the eye techs I met were also very nice and courteous. I have been a patient at Shepherd Eye for at least 15 yrs and I will continue to do so.

I had my first experience at the Shepherd Eye Center and what a great experience it was. The entire staff was so welcoming and made me feel very comfortable throughout my time there. I want to give a sincere thank you to every staff member that I interacted with for your kindness and expertise that you showed me.

I also want to give a special thank you to Dr Cassen. Thank you for your patience in explaining everything along the way as you did the exam. I feel a great comfort in knowing that all is okay with my eyes and will utilize the tips that you gave me to keep it that way.

The customer service in this place is unbelievable. From the nurses to the doctor! Everyone was extremely polite, efficient and helpful. The doctor was so kind and made my nervous baby feel soooooo much better. I can honestly say this is the best experience ive had with doctors in a long time.

I have always had a good experience at Shepherd Eye Center. My only comment is that it takes up to 2 hours to go through the process of checking in, screening, eye pressure, and finally seeing the doctor. I try to book one of the first appointments in the morning so I do not have to wait as long. People there have been very nice and the doctors there were able to diagnose a rare condition in my husband's eye. Overall, a great place.
