I have seen a few different doctors at the Henderson office. They have ALWAYS treated me with Respect, and care enough to sometimes checkin with me at home after procedures. Dr. PAULA SY is the absolute best in this office.

My only complaint is being scheduled for an afternoon when I needed to have another colonoscopy and endoscopy on same day. It was schedule for 3:20 pm and yet the surgery office called me at 9am asking why I didnt show up?? I said I have the later appt, oh no your supposed to be here now because the doctor wont be in the surgery center that late. I was very upset!!!

Dr Ricker is an exceptional gastroenterologist and ranked in the top of the entire country for gastroenterology.

I have had many gastro doctors over 37 years due to my great fortune to have gastro issues that have caused infection, pain, and eventually surgery to deal with it.

I have had excellent surgeons like Ricker and Average to Sub Average Doctor Surgeons during my life and I have witnessed the consequences of both.

Dr Ricker is NO DOUBT RICKER IS THE BEST GASTRO in Las Vegas area hands down, based on if you want an excellent doctor OR it's more important to patient are mad at scheduling or billing issues or he was not super nice to me (boo hoo) and grow up.

He is a highly skilled doctor/surgeon!!!

You can't DIE from billing issues but you can if you have an average doctor.

Dr Ricker is not even close to Average in Skill and Expertise in both clinic care and surgical work.

I am personally insulted to see such frivolous ratings for stupid issues by spoiled or ungrateful people here who gave scores that brought his ratings down.

Speaking as someone who has seen many doctors and has extensive knowledge of good and bad gastro issues

Dr Ricker is 5 STARS, nothing less .

People are really ungrateful to have someone of his skill available here in Las Vegas where he would be highly sought after at Major Hospitals around the Country.

It's a blessing to have a top ranked national doctor in this city for people who have serious gastro issues including Cancer, Crohns, Diverticulitis

I’m a patient of Dr. Banker and must say that I wish I would have found him sooner. He listened to my concerns regarding issues that I’ve been experiencing and recommended that I have a endoscopy and colonoscopy done. The experience wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I’m under follow up care and looking forward to my treatment plan. His medical assistant Rayna is also kind and always happy to greet my son and I at my appointments.

After paying co-pays for visits, tests, a colonoscopy, and an endoscopy, and spending nearly $2,000, I was told my results looked normal. That's good news, of course, but I still needed help and no treatment plan followed, no discussion of diet changes or symptom management. Just a suggestion to go to urgent care, which then said they don't do those scans. It's frustrating to feel passed around rather than actually helped. What patients want isn't miracles, it's communication, guidance, and a next step, especially after investing time, money, and trust. Healthcare shouldn't end when the scary diagnoses are ruled out. For many patients, that's where the real work should begin.

I realize that this office has had some negative reviews in the past, and the reviews usually refer to the office staff, and not the doctors. In my particular case, The office staff has been exceptional with me, and when I say exceptional, i mean positive easygoing, calming, and very patient with me, such that if I was upset with anything, they were easily moved into the zone of helping me. Dr. Ricker, on the other hand was and is the most dedicated gastroenterologist that I know in terms of his desire to investigate and not stop and give up when things keep coming up a little bit unexplained, and there's no way on this planet Earth that I would not appreciate the effort that he's gone through to get me to the end game of making me feel better. His protocols that he has used have saved my life, and my gastrodrama has been brought to the minimal, compared to the beginning, when all hell was breaking loose? Dr. Ricker in my eyes, has to be One of the best... lastly, re: Dr., he proved to be my best fit! I'm a retired law enforcement officer of 27 years and a Veteran. He investigates like a law enforcement and he is mission oriented like a Veteran! Love it!

I’ve been coming to this GI for almost 10 years. I absolutely love them and appreciate the entire staff members.
There was a time I had been frustrating with a scheduling system that they had and visiting the office for scheduling was much easier so it was very inconvenient but that has been fixed.

My husband and I have Dr. Ricker. He’s very thorough and listens to us carefully.
Dr. Ricker performed colonoscopy on my husband and he was very thorough then too.

All the staff members there, Vanessa and Danielle at the front desk, Rayna, Christal and Miguel the assistants and the manager are very polite, kind and try to work with the patients when issues arise.

I appreciate them so much for being so thoughtful and easy to work with.

The moment I arrived the front receptionist treat me kindly and with respect, She was very welcoming.
Reyna, Dr Banks assistant is absolutely amazing and very kind, she uses humor and helps you feel more comfortable.

While not a place people generally like to go to, I honestly had a very positive experience. The entire team was very courteous, helpful and efficient. I understand they might be understaffed so Ive learned to just not call their office because they have an operator answer and say they will relay your message/concerns to them in max three days. So don’t bother calling. Instead I show up in person to make appointments and make sure to get an appt card.
Although, my recent visit was weird, I show up to make an in-person appointment. The receptionist instead tries to pass off my appt by giving ME a number to call to make an appt. I tell her I am here and I can just make it with her. She looks like i just bothered her. I made my appt in less than 2 minutes. Ridiculous and lazy behavior. It was 2/23 around 4:00pm, the waiting room was EMPTY and the receptionist was eating a bag of chips at the desk. I assume she wasnt that busy.
UPDATE 2/25:
Personally spoke with the Practice Manager and she was kind, considerate, and empathetic about my experience with the receptionist staff. She reassured me that should not have happened and I am still planning on being a patient at SHG regardless of this bump in the road.

I wanted to edit this. Husband died Feb 6th. A week after the visit. Again dr didnt even EXAM HIM!!! I hope the lady who read my review will reach out to me again because i want the Nurse Practitioner name.My husband is 40 and only drank for 5 years after work. He currently has chirossis of the liver and filled with fluid. Hospital won't drain him because there in pockets and the woman dr we saw couldn't explain how anything worked. Just basically he is going to die, is what we got from the visit. Not sure why the hospital referred us. Took us forever to get someone to call us back. I didn't feel like she really cared. Gave us no options.... luckily we have been referred to an ACTUAL liver SPECIALIST who can hopefully help. Willing to even pay for a transplant. If you chose to go here, only go for GI issues like digestive issues and make sure its an actual dr not a nurse practitioner..... My husband is the love of my life and we should be treated as much by whomever we are seeing for an appt, not just oh well your screwed and no treatment plan what so ever....im sad and upset.

I was referred here by my doctor, but it’s been impossible to talk to anyone. I’ve tried calling multiple times over several days at different times, and no one has ever answered the phone. I eventually tried using the website, but there wasn’t a way to actually schedule online, only a “fill out this form and we’ll contact you” option. A few days after filling out the form, I received an email with an appointment that had been made without my input. It was with the wrong doctor, for the wrong reason, at the wrong location, and occurring on Christmas Eve. Shortly after that, I got a voicemail cancelling the appointment because the doctor wouldn’t be in that day. I’m honestly just confused by how difficult it’s been to get in touch or schedule appropriately. I really just wanted to talk to a person to ask questions. I’ve now asked my doctor for a referral to a different gastroenterologist not part of the Valley Health System. Feels like South Hills Gastroenterology (Owner) should spend less time reading and answering Google reviews and more time answering the phone.

I can see why this doctors office gets such poor reviews. It’s been a total nightmare. I went in for a pre procedure appointment. After that, it’s like they ghosted me. They don’t answer the phone. If (and that’s a big IF) they do answer, you are put on eternal hold. I actually spoke to one person there who said she would get me an answer and get back to me. That was almost 3 weeks ago. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I will say one thing they are good at - they wasted no time in billing me. They do want there money.

The fact that these people hang up on patients over the phone and NEVER answer again; I believe there will be special type of karma for these type of people. We get referred to this clinic in hopes to feel better, but instead have to deal with more stress simply because they hang up on you and won’t answer again. Listen to these reviews, stay away from this clinic!
I see this clinic responds to these bad reviews. Why bother? You say you apologize but won’t do anything to train your awful staff to be competent. Just close down or fire your front desk staff

I arrived for my appointment not feeling that great, but pressed my way in spite of, only to be told after checking in and having a seat that my referral authorization needed renewing. I would think that would be a detail worth reviewing at the time I was called and remind of the appointment yesterday.

Update 7/10/25 Round 2: Incompetence at its finest.
After the June 12th debacle of being informed my referral authorization had expired (when it in fact had not and actually doesn't expire until 7/20/25), I was rescheduled for a follow-up appointment by Katie for today at 1045. Of course I check in and have a seat, only to be called back up to be told my appointment had disappeared. Upon confirming it was actually scheduled and there are notes to confirm, I have a seat. After realizing another error had now occurred, I am called back up to the desk at 1130 and told they are going to need to reschedule me yet again. The sad part is I called prior to my appointment, but as per usual, no one answered the phone, so I left a message. PLEASE AVOID THIS OFFICE AT ALL COSTS! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

I'd give negative stars if I could. Dr. Ricker is fine, but his office staff are the most incompetent I've ever experienced. I see Dr. Ricker every six months for my liver and am on antivirals that I NEED to take. Had my labs done in June and no one called back concerning the results. I left a message and never heard back. I left another message last week to tell them I needed my antivirals refilled and asked them to let me know if I needed to come in. No call back. Then my pharmacy requested refills 3 times and nothing.

I just got off the phone with the office and the woman I spoke to was unapologetic and as unbothered as they come.

This has been an ongoing issue with this office. I have called multiple times in the past for my lab results and they don't call back! And when you call them out on it they're either rude or dismissive.

Do yourself a huge favor and find another office that's actually professional and on top of their game.

All I can say is that the desk staff represented like champions!!! And Dr. Ricker listened to my whole story, and then he didn't hesitate to give me a layman's view of what my body was doing. My visit was truly an education and my personality appreciated it! I want to get smarter on my health, and Dr. Ricker was a solid springboard for my gastro understanding. Tried 3 times to get appointment to no avail. Nobody ever answers a phone. When I requested a referral to another place, they called next day to say they'd make me an appointment, no need for another referral they said. Don't come here they have horrible staff members that sit on there butts all day and nothing. There are several rude and very incompetent office staff members here. Without going into details and naming names, all I can say is I won't be going back here. They make mistakes constantly and don't seem to know what they are doing. It causes a lot of frustration and delay for patients. Office staff disorganized. I was directed to enter two rooms that already had patients. Meanwhile Dr. Herrero was sitting in hallway unaware he had patients. Dr. Herrero ordered a scan and told me to re-schedule in 2 weeks. I am unable to get an appt. and unable to get my tests results. I asked to see next available Dr. and the scheduling department said "no" you are Dr. Herrero's patient. I am currently trying to get test results and find a new GI specialist.

6/15 update: This started as a one star review and moved to a four star review. Today I was contacted by the office manager in reference to this review. All OF my concerns have been resolved. I was very impressed with the follow-up.

I had a great 1st appointment experience at this office getting a Colonoscopy Screening. The office staff was helpful and the screening went great. I was unsure of the date the colonoscopy was scheduled and called back less than 2 hours later to change my appointment. The appointment was cancelled. I was told I would be called back within 24-48 hours to reschedule. I have called 2 other times and left messages. It has been 7 business days with no returned phone call.

The office staff are very rude and constantly make mistakes. They told me a date for my phone appointment, then called me for confirmation with a different date for the appointment. I said the different date was fine, and then no one called me on that date. I had to call the office and wait on hold for an hour until I got through to the doctor. Then another time I was waiting on lab results and the office said the doctor would call me on one of two certain days. No one called me. I called them the next day and the office lady was extremely rude and unaccommodating. I’m still waiting on my lab results as I have not gotten a call from the doctor yet. It’s extremely unprofessional and not okay. I would recommend finding a different gastroenterologist if possible.
