As a life time user of glasses and contacts I had one of the best experiences with both the doctor and staff at this location. Dr. Thompson and Omar both made me feel well taken care of. If you’re thinking about getting your glasses done here… RUN!!!
A few months ago, I came to this Walmart (Charleston location) with my mom to get her new glasses. At the time, we decided not to add any extra warranty because she take good care of her glasses and trusted the quality of the work at their Vision Center.
About three months later, we started noticing that one of the lenses was cracking from the inside, like it was splintering. It kept getting worse over time, so we went back to the store to have it checked. A woman attended us and, honestly, she had zero intention of helping. She looked at the glasses quickly and immediately said there was nothing she could do, and that the only “solution” was to pay the full original price again to remake them.
Later, we decided to get the glasses remade at another optical store. The person there looked at them and told us right away that the issue was clearly caused by a bad job — the original Walmart Vision Center had cut the lenses too large for the frames, causing constant pressure and making the lenses crack from the inside. He recommended that I go back to Walmart and insist, because even without a warranty, this was obviously their mistake, not ours.
So I went back to the Charleston Walmart (twice) just to speak with the manager.
The manager Omar, he completely dismissed the situation. Instead of acknowledging the poor workmanship, he tried to wash his hands of any responsibility, repeating that there was “no active warranty.” He even offered me a 15% discount to redo the glasses, as if he was doing me a favor, when in reality the problem was caused entirely by their bad work from the beginning.
Omar is honestly a joke. There was no accountability, no professionalism, and no genuine attempt to make things right. I trusted Walmart with my mom’s glasses, and this was the first and last time I’ll ever use their Vision Center.
If you’re thinking about getting your glasses done here, RUN,there’s still time to save yourself the headache. Terrible service, zero responsibility, and a complete lack of care for their customers.

We stopped in town to get my son's eyes checked. The doctor was very thorough and we were able to get a new prescription. He also printed out some reading material and made some recommendations to a specialist. He was very helpful.
Masks were required. 👓
