The orthodontist is fantastic! He tells funny jokes, puts you at ease, makes you feel like you are his number one patient, and remembers who you are. His wife runs the business side of things and she is always helpful. They really make their practice about the family.

We have been seeing Dr. Yogi Chen for almost two years now. He is friendly, professional, and good at what he does. He is a perfectionist and updates me on the progress every time we go in for our appointment.

I have been a patient of Dr. Chens for over a year and can not say enough good things about him!! Update: In the doctor’s reply, he admitted to his insulting words and behavior toward my child and further criticized us for not educating our child properly. I am deeply disappointed by the doctor’s lack of professionalism and work ethics in treating patients this way. While he did not (and can’t) deny any of the facts I mentioned, he instead threatened to send a bill—one that I did not consent to and do not recognize—to a collection agency, as stated in his response to this review.

I hope everyone will carefully evaluate their options when considering this doctor. If you’ve had a similar experience, I encourage you to file a complaint with the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners. Our children and all patients deserve to be treated with respect and care by qualified dental professionals.

I am still in shock after what was, without a doubt, the worst experience I’ve ever had with a doctor.

1. Disrespectful behavior towards patients.
My 6-year-old was waiting while her sister was being checked, and her water bottle leaked on the floor. Instead of addressing the situation politely, the doctor disdainfully asked, “Did she pee on the ground?” When we explained it was water and requested a paper towel to clean it up, the doctor THREW the paper towels on the ground without saying a word.

2. Unwillingness to explain the treatment plan.
My child’s treatment plan seemed significantly longer and more expensive compared to others we know who visit this clinic. When I asked the doctor—politely—about the reasoning behind this, he repeatedly and impatiently said, “It’s case by case, I can’t explain, okay?” There was no effort to clarify or address my concerns.

3. Lack of transparency regarding billing.
After the consultation, we decided not to proceed with this doctor due to the negative experiences. However, no one informed us about fees for the visit beforehand. As we were leaving, the front desk staff ran out to ask us to pay for photos and/or x-rays we weren’t aware of. When we asked for an itemized bill or statement before paying, they refused, saying it would be sent later. This lack of transparency felt unprofessional and dishonest.

Overall, this experience was unacceptable, and I would not recommend this practice to anyone seeking respectful and transparent care for their children.

Wow! Is all I can say about Wow Dental Orthodontics! Dr. Yogi Chen did an amazing job. I was visiting Vegas when I had a crown come loose. I searched for a dentist on a Saturday afternoon. After being turned away from the nearest dentist we called, we found Wow Dental and even though they were closed Dr Yogi told me to come and he would take care of me. I was very impressed with his chair side manner. He explained everything he was doing and was very gentle. The office is very clean and he has a wonderful, friendly personality. I left with my crown fixed and he didn’t take advantage of me financially, he was extremely fair with the cost. Incredible for an after hours visit. I would highly recommend his office! He was able to skillfully and patiently guide me through my Invisalign treatment — making sure that every step yielded the exact results I wanted. I have been very pleased with my son's treatment here! Dr. Chen and his wife, the receptionist, were always a delight to work with. My son's jaw was so small that his upper canines had come in *in front* of his other teeth. His younger brother's were the same and were treated by Dr Tara at Smart Mouth with an ALF device, which was way more comfortable than braces. She doesn't treat older kids, though, and referred me to a couple clinics in Summerlin whom she trusted to treat jaw issues probably. I ended up getting estimates at three clinics, two nearby in Henderson and Wow Dental Orthodontics in Summerlin.

The first clinic had a very low price but wanted to pull my son's adult teeth to make room for his canines. Um, I'm pretty sure he's gonna need those teeth over the next potentially 70 years of his life!!! 😳 We had also already had him treated at that clinic when he was younger, and for whatever reason, his braces kept slipping off his teeth, so we were seriously back to get a bracket replaced every three weeks through the high majority of his initial treatment. 🤦🏼‍♀️

The second estimate was not a low price, expected a longer period of treatment, and would entail the use of headgear. Ugh, the classic, embarrassment device from the 90s! 😅 Getting my kiddo to cooperate with that would likely be a major ordeal. 😬

Dr Chen's estimate was the same price and timeline as the second estimate, but instead of braces and headgear, he said he would use a different device with the braces. I can't recall what it was called, but it sat at the roof of my son's mouth and pushed his molars back to make room for his canines. It wasn't perfectly comfortable, certainly, but neither are braces, and especially neither is headgear! The treatment plan with Dr Chen worked splendidly and faster than expected. He really is an expert in his field, and his wife is just so kind. I very highly recommend them!
