I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Swanic and his whole team. Everyone is extremely friendly, professional, and when it comes to your eyes, they simply get the job done. I had shopped around before and two other reputable locations told me I could do Lasik. All it took was one visit to Dr. Swanic to find out that I'm only eligible for PRK and that I could have made a big mistake with further complications down the line. With this information I then went to another specialist out of the state and found out Dr. Swanic was completely right. I'm so thrilled to have selected Dr. Matthew Swanic for my lasik eye procedure. The entire team at the Las Vegas Eye Institute was thorough and professional throughout the whole process and I felt confident in the care I received.

I required emergency cataract surgery in both eyes and was referred to Dr. Swanic. Not only was he able to work to fit me in during the month of December just before and after Christmas but I received the best care ever! The staff is amazing, professional yet personable and so willing to go out of their way to accommodate their clients needs. I can't recommend this place enough!!! I did so much research into lasik and who I would see and I decided Dr. Swanic would be the best to see. I was impressed from the first visit. The staff was amazing! Every single person was kind and attentive. The office is clean, the chairs are so comfortable and you really are cared for at each step. It has been over 10 months since my LASIK surgery at Las Vegas Eye Institute. I am incredibly happy that I got it done when I did and also extremely happy with the results.

This is now my 3rd follow up, and my eyes have really adjusted to the Lasik. The left eye is still a little fuzzy at times, but based on the surgery I received, it allows me the advantage of not having to wear readers. I am 43 years old, and before LASIK I was wearing contacts, glasses and readers. The benefit of knowing that I don’t need to wear contacts or glasses again, is the best part of all. I currently do not use readers either.

Enough about me. I have to just say how pleased I am with Dr. Swanic and his incredible staff. They are all so genuine and kind. From the first encounter I had with the staff until now has remained the same. Everyone is so friendly, caring and polite. When I walk into the office I feel like family.

My husband practiced ophthalmology in Henderson for 30 years, and when I began having trouble with my vision and suspected cataracts, he immediately said, “The person you need to see is Dr. Mat Swanic.” I found out through my cataract surgery experience that my husband's recommendation was richly deserved.

Dr. Swanic is kind, patient, and remarkably thorough. He not only welcomes questions but takes the time to explain how the different lens options work and how each might affect distance, intermediate, and near vision. He is meticulous about the measurements and calculations, with the goal of giving each patient the best possible visual outcome and the greatest chance of freedom from glasses.

I had cataract surgery on both eyes, using a different lens strategy for each. My left eye was corrected for distance with a toric lens, and I now have 20/20 distance vision. I had not realized how much my cataracts had diminished my sight until after surgery—the improvement in clarity, brightness, and overall quality of vision was astonishing. Truly!

For my right eye, I chose the TECNIS PureSee lens, an impressive newer technology that provides excellent distance and intermediate vision, along with useful near vision. Because I have dry eyes, I wanted a lens that would allow plenty of light to enter without choosing a traditional multifocal design. The PureSee has exceeded my expectations. I can comfortably use my computer and read books, my phone, and smaller print without reading glasses. I honestly feel as though this lens gave me everything I had hoped for.

Because I am prone to motion sickness, I was initially concerned that using one eye primarily for distance and the other to enhance intermediate and hopefully near vision might be difficult to tolerate. My adjustment was completely seamless from the very first day after surgery. I see clearly with both eyes, have experienced no problems, and absolutely love being free from prescription glasses and readers.

Cataract surgery is an enormously important decision because its results affect how you see every day.
