I suffered a very traumatic TMJ injury in late August of 2023. For 2 weeks I was in the most excruciating pain of my life. I was completely bypassed by other providers. Even after telling them I had suffered from facial trauma. These providers were trying to treat me for a ear infection there was never an infection. Thankfully my dentist listened to me and referred me to Dr. Escoto. He and his staff are phenomenal. I was seen the same day as a walk-in patient. Shirley saw how hurt, scared, and frustrated I was after 2 weeks of getting nowhere with the other providers. She assured me that I was in the best hands and I truly was. I appreciate Dr. Escoto and his team for helping me in my time of need. My healing journey from this injury has not been an easy one but I am getting there. I did have a few follow-up visits with Dr. Escoto but it has been a while since my last one. I plan on scheduling another visit with him real soon.

I went here a few months ago and was happy with Dr. Escoto's advice and treatment plan. I do not have $6,000 for the TMJ treatment, so he offered ultrasound therapy and a new nightguard. They are not in network with any insurance, so I had to pay upfront and have my insurance reimburse me.

I had the hardest time even getting through to create an appt. Shirley, bless her heart is a trainwreck. She literally just had kidney surgery or something and came to work WITH DRAINS! I felt to sorry for her, it was awful. The next week I came back for the nightguard and there was a new receptionist. I definitely know he is skilled and professional, his staff needs to get it together.

Excellent care, attention to detail, a skilled and conscientious artist in his field. He has been my dentist for over 24 yrs, has set crowns over the years, and blessed me by correcting my jaw alignment as a bonus. His skill is worth every dollar!

I went in to get a tmj check up and the lady at the front desk was so unprofessional. She was high on god knows what. She was dozing off when she was asking me questions. Repeating the same questions over and over. Please don’t go here, save yourself the time and go somewhere else.

If u could give this place 0 stars I would. Please listen to the reviews and take your money elsewhere. When I called to ask questions before booking the appointment, hoping they could help my husband with the terrible pain caused his TMJ (supposed TMJ specialist) I was told for $250 he would be getting X-rays, to see where the TMJ sat and how severe it was, as well as a physical exam and discussion about which treatment would best fit the diagnosis. So, I booked hoping he could help my husband. He went in, waited 1.5 HOURS, moved to two different rooms while waiting, nothing done just moved rooms for whatever reason. Finally the doctor came in at 5pm (appt was at 3:30pm) asked about the pain, touched his face a little and suggested a $9k splint (cash pay price). And that he would need to go elsewhere for a MRI/X-rays of his jaw. When It was mentioned he didn't have insurance and MRIs can be pricey he said he'd order a CT scan instead, "it's cheaper". So ITS NOT included in the $250!!!
Already flustered about waste of time, he paid and left. Fast forward to my dentist appt elsewhere, I explain what happened to them after overhearing them treating someone with TMJ. I explain what happened and they said $250 should've included the X-rays at very least and "you should call." So, upset that we were ripped off I called multiple times throughout the day, no answer, so finally I left a voicemail. Next day I get a call from someone at dr. Escotos office, she was extremely unprofessional, she said THE RECEPTIONIST THAT TOLD ME X-RAYS WERE INCLUDED WAS WRONG AND MEANT SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, X-RAYS ARE FREE OF CHARGE AT WHATEVER PLACE THEY REFERRED (Not what the actual doctor said though, the other place charges). THAT ITS NORMAL TO WAIT OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF AT A DOCTOR, MY HUSBAND MUST NOT "UNDERSTAND" THE TREATMENT PLAN EXPLAINED AND DR. Escoto HAS A MASTERS AND CAN CHARGE $250 FOR TOUCHING SOMEONES FACE FOR 5 MINUTES IF HE WANTS TO. I swear. I was dumbfounded when she said this. After calling my husband stupid in so many words I got upset and she hung up in my face. They did NOTHING for him and took the $250 and his time without a care in the world. On the other hand MY DENTIST (top dentists in Las Vegas, best reviews), will be taking my husband in, $225 for the X-rays/ exams ect and it GOES TOWARDS WHICHEVER TREATMENT THEY CHOOSE. And 6k for cash pay splint not 9k!! I wish I'd asked them first instead of using Google for TMJ specialists. The only thing DR. ESCOTOs office specializes in is Scamming, Being Unprofessional and wasting time.

I went there to get treated for my TMJ. I was charged $225 for the consultation fee. Then the dentist (Rscoto) who seems nice enough checked me out. He told me all the stuff about putting a splint in my mouth and this and that and the other and I’m gonna have to keep on coming back to have check ups and that my jaw is out of place and it’s not really TMJ, it was a lot of stuff for me to take in. Before I left they wanted me to make a 4 hr appointment to get fitted for the splint. Upfront I was gonna have to pay over $5000 and then a couple weeks later I have to spend over $3000. By the time this would be all over it would be almost $9000. I decided not to go ahead and do this. I read up on this and found out that dentists scam you all the time when it comes to problems like this. Make sure you do your due diligence before you go to a doctor such as this and let him treat you and charge you anything he wants to charge you. His office is very nice and the staff is very nice but of course they are very nice because they’re taking all your money. I really just wanted Botox to relax the muscles in my jaw until I decided what else I should do, if I needed to do anything else. He was going to charge me $2200 for Botox. I am getting Botox for $500 today from another very qualified dentist. One that doesn’t scam you. I know how much Botox costs this dentist has some nerve charging that much. You can tell that he lives a life of luxury and charges everybody too much money. You can always tell by how fancy their offices are.

Please note this was a few years ago. I had great hopes of Dr Escoto helping with TMJ, he seemed eager to help then things took a turn. I will say he had a friendly front desk manager and additional staff. I spent over 5k for a dated appliance, didn't work. Not only did he continuously overcharge me, but then when I switched to another specialist he refused to give me copies of my charts with detailed explanations of treatment plan and cost. When I called office pleading to get my records, the front desk assistant suggested I flirt with him to get what I wanted. Do NOT waste your time here!

If you are looking for a dentist that can handle your TMJ issues and needs, you need to contact his office and schedule an appointment. He is the only dentist in town that treats TMJ non-surgically. Dr Escoto has a great bed side manner with his patients, very friendly, kind and most of all very knowledgeable. I have had a cleaning with the hygienist as well, and she is really good too!

I would not recommend this Dr.Escoto to anyone. TMJ institute is very misleading. I started treatment March 2019 to finally giving up because there was no resolution to my problem and he is over charging. As well as not wanting to see you when you call and asked to come in. He will do everything not to see you. First treatment cost 7,900.00. Dr.Escoto appliances are antiquated and very out dated and so is his techniques. Dr.Escoto does not want to adjust the appliances even when it's not working and there is no improvement. Dr.Escoto does not listen to his patience and could careless if your in pain. Another workup and add acrylic to appliances 1,250.00 completely failed. Quoted 2,400.00 for botox for TMJ/TMD. That prices is outrageous when ever other doctor has a 600.00 price. Next workup I had was 2,500.00. When I asked why the price doubled in a couple of months, Toni front office manager said and I quote the office manager before me Gloria embezzled. So I guess that means all the patience pay for Gloria's embezzlement. I final gave up when I paid 2,500.00 and Dr.Escoto changed absolutely nothing on my appliances or did he adjust it. I walked out exactly the same way I came in. He tens me for 45 minutes then checked my muscles with k7 neuromuscular computer to change nothing. I keep being told that my jaw was in the right Position. I have every tmj symptom and had this appliances for almost a year at that point with no resolution in symptom.My jaw completely deviates my left side opens then the right.I'm in pain 24/7 with no help from this doctor. I asked Toni to come in several times explaining how much pain I was in and all I would get was excuses and the run around. I finally asked for statements of everything I had done in this office and how much I have paid. The office manager Toni just keeps giving me excuses and said I need to ask the doctor. This is over a year of my life gone to a doctor that told me I'm good at what I do and took thousands of dollars but will not see me or give me my statement or records. Be warned. If you are suffering and want excellent care, this is not the doctor or office for you.

Have not been to this dentist in 4 years and I receive a statement stating I owe them $198.94. The explanation that I received is that the person before me did not send out balance dues and I am trying to clean everything up. I do not see that this is my fault and consider this to be very poor customer service and bad business to send a statement after 4 years. The least they could have done was give a courteous call.

Dr. Escoto is AMAZING! He is compassionate and it’s obvious he loves job. I’d never see anyone else. Gloria at the front office is amazing as well! I went to see Dr. Esconto because I was suffering from pain around my ear and temple area. Without doing any Xrays the Dr immediately said that I was suffering from TMJ and he charged my over $600 for a mouth guard and some heat laser sessions. The pain got worse after a few days so I went to an endodontist who did perform an Xray and found out I had an infected molar and needed a root canal.
Dr. Esconto never returned any of my calls to discuse the missdiagnosis after speaking with his secretary a few times about the matter.
I am very surprised and disappointed at his lack of professionalism.

Dr Escoto and his staff are the most professional and have the most knowledge in the Las Vegas Valley. If you are suffering from TMJ and all of the symptoms, he is the doctor than you have been searching for. Stop the doctor merry go-round and go and see him. You will be happy you went and he will not crush your pocket book. All of the dental and TMJ procedures are always explained and completed with the utmost care and compassion.
