Met w Dr John Baldauf this week for diagnosis of severe rt hip pain. This was my 1st time at Desert Orthopedics & it was a positive experience from beginning to end. All staff, from XRay to PA, reception to accounts, treated me w a smile. Dr Baldauf was calm & professional in explaining my diagnosis & treatment plan. A friend had recommended him as “the best” in LV and she was soooo right! I’m a retired RN who is very familiar with orthopedics. Having just only met the surgeon once and not yet undergoing my 1st of 2 upcoming total knee replacement surgeries, I feel confident in giving Dr. Baldauf a five star rating based on the care provided at my initial appointment, and my faith that he is more than capable to do, and will do, the best he can, and I'm sure his best is above average. The fact that this doctor has standards with which he will not compromise (arguably for his own reputation as well as the well-being of his patients in his hands) as opposed to say a surgeon who accepts anybody/everybody that can pay is, to say the least, rare. Specific example, I was a light smoker and Dr. Baldauf flat-out stated he would not accept me as a patient unless I quit smoking 30 days minimum prior to surgery. How refreshing: true standards.
Furthermore, I checked everywhere online before I chose Dr baldoff and his reviews across the board are, quite simply, tops.
Dr. Baldauf exudes personal ability, personability, and sure confidence in his specialty and, as a surprise bonus, Dr. Baldauf is definitely warmly human and obviously cares for the human not just the knee ...or the hip....

This was my first meeting with Dr. Baldauf as a second opinion consult for hip & knee issues. Came highly recommended by a friend - I wasn’t disappointed. Took multiple X-Rays of both hip & knees and we had a lengthy conversation of all the pros & cons of surgery. What I liked most was his approach to not diagnose & recommend surgery simply from MRI and X-Rays alone - he analyzed my current health & activity level (regular physical training & deep massage therapy) and offered alternate methods to continue my sport activities and postpone surgery for awhile. That is to say, he’s not there to convince you of the immediate need for surgery if it’s not necessary. My ‘second’ opinion just became my prime one!

Even after one visit, I can see why two of my older brothers went with Dr. Baldauf for their care. All the staff were very nice and very helpful. Even after a bit more than a year, they still recognized my brother that accompanied me to my visit. Dr Baldauf is very polite and, more to the point, very straight forward. The Dr 's staff was very organized immediately took me back to get an X Ray. Dr Baldauf was very knowledgeable on what issues I am currently having and gave me advise on a procedure I was told I needed by by another Dr over a year ago that would help the mobility in my neck. Excellent visit. Doctor's knowledge is off the charts. He scoped my knee and saved me from a TKR. This visit was for my shoulder with two ossifications that had me worried about an operation. Looked at X-rays and said we'd try a simpler treatment plan to start. Injection. Heard horror stories in the past about them and almost welcomed surgery. His PA used an Ultrasound device and inserted the needle in the back of the shoulder w/o any more pain than an injection in the knee. Second day and I can lift my arm over my head while extended. Happy.

Due to a sore knee caused by an unknown gremlin, I sought Dr Baldauf’s expertise. My son is patient of Dr. Daniel Lee, what a fabulous Dr. He had been helping my son since 2013, since his scoliosis surgery. I have been having shoulder pain for a year. I went to see Dr Baldauf for shoulder pain. After seeing the x-ray it was clear that my pain is caused by bone on bone arthritis.
He was very kind and concerned with first, getting my pain under control which he put a plan together for laser, physical therapy and anti inflammatory medication to start with. Surgery is in the future but for now I’m looking forward to some pain relief.

Dr Baldauf is an excellent and experienced orthopedic surgeon. He is kind and caring and listens to patient. I had pain in my leg at night when sleeping on my side. After11 weeks of Total Hip Replacement (Anterior access) surgery I still had pain at night when sleeping on my non-surgical side. Dr Baldauf examined me and administered Medrol injection at my hip joint. I came to Dr Baldauf early 2023 from Sacramento CA with a Full Knee Replacement that was barely 2 years old that had not cemented properly. Dr B read the imaging report I had done in Sac Ca the previous fall and had no reservations based on the report, X-ray DOC had taken and my “interview” to schedule me for a FLR revision, which was scheduled within about 5-6 weeks of my 1st visit.
After surgery home therapy began and then shortly thereafter PT. I live in Pahrump and it took quite some time to get all that started and by then, the flexibility in my knee was very limited, about 85-90* at best, although less pain and no more POPPING! Although I could live with it if I had to, Dr B was not happy with that and started discussion and planning to do a “ manipulation under anesthesia” (MUA). This was scheduled on a Friday with 2 full weeks of daily PT to ensure that the flexibility would return. By the end of my PT run I was at 123-125* on a good day!
Shortly after my PT ended my other knee began to “POP” and hurt terribly. I saw Dr. B yesterday 12/18 and thankfully we are only looking at arthritis and bone spurs (so far). Just going with some cortisone injections !! Thank you Dr B & Heather. And his whole staff!!

I saw Dr. Baldauf yesterday. I tripped about a week ago and landed on my right knee. It was very bruised and swollen. This is my 3 Month Review.
I'm a 64 year old active man that bikes and hikes on average 300 miles per month but feel limited due to pain in my shoulder. After talking to the Doctor and Injection in a specific SPOT in my shoulder the results are attached. May 331.. June 612 and July with 810.

I have done a review on Dr. Baldauf before and wanted to give an update. Dr. Baldauf did shoulder surgery on me in May. I felt much better initially after the surgery. It seems, though, that my body is doing something "weird" and another pretty severe pain has "popped up" in the same shoulder, close to the original surgical site. This is NOT related to the initial surgery. Dr. Baldauf has been keeping close tabs on this pain; he knows how much pain I've been in (and am still in). I saw him in the office today and we came up with a definitive plan of care that we both agree on, which does possibly involve surgery at some point. I was ready to jump right into surgery, but Dr. Baldauf kind of calmed me down and we're first moving forward with a more conservative approach. To me, this is one example of an excellent physician - not jumping right into surgery, but seeing what else can be done first. I'll see him back in 2 weeks and evaluate how the conservative treatment is working. If it's not working well, I'll race him to surgery! He told me today that he really wants to find out where this pain is coming from and help resolve it. I truly believe this; that he cares very much for his patients and wants the best outcomes for them. Thank you, Dr. Baldauf for going out of your way to help me (and putting up with me!).
