I was very disappointed with My appointment today. It was not because there is anything wrong with Dr. Trainer (I wrote a 5 star review for him after my last visit). It was the lack of professionalism and discipline with some of front desk people. They seemed to be competing who could shout the loudest when called on a patient. But it’s beside the story. I waited one and half hours after fully check-in without being called upon and decided to inquire the status. I was told by front desk that Dr Trainer was not in the office today and then was offered to see a PA (my follow-up appointment was with Dr Trainer!). I was so fed up and decided to leave. I wish the front desk people would have courtesy to call me ahead of time or minimally informed me when I was checking in that Dr Trainer is not available today.

Had an appointment at 11:15.After filling all information on line was asked on checking in to fill out pages and pages of life history including shoe size 🙃 This took 20 minutes. After an hour and a half was taken in the usual small room to wait again
The Doctors assistant came in to ask me more life history. Another 20 minutes and taken for an xray. Waiting again for another 30 minutes or so. Doctors assistance PA came in to discuss x rays.
I asked him if I was going to see the Doctor, he said Doctor was two hours and 45 minutes running behind and if I waited I could see him but he wasn't sure how long this would take .Unacceptable!!

I've been a patient at AOSM for 5+ years, seeing Dr. Sep Brady & Dr. Ai-Quoc Heller. I saw Dr. Michael Trainor for the first time on 11/5 for cervical pain. It couldn't have been a better appointment! I waited less than 10mins. in the waiting room, and 5min. in an exam room before being warmly greeted by his PA Jen, who reviewed the reason for my visit, had already pulled up my cervical MRI, asked questions, and said we'd need X-rays, which I expected. Within a couple of minutes, an x-ray tech came in and we went to the back x-ray unit, which I never knew was there! I'd always been to the one up-front, lol. Unfortunately I didn't get his name, however he was very friendly and efficient. Once back in the exam room, it was only a few minutes before Dr. Mike came in, greeted me with a big smile & firm handshake, and I immediately felt at-ease. He went over my films and the status of my cervical spine, which aligned with the previous spine doctor I'd seen there since 2020. I knew he's extremely busy, but he treated me as though I was his only patient, no way rushed whatsoever. He listened, which is vital to me. I've had 9 orthopedic surgeries, so I know a thing or two about it and how my body works. I'm not a complainer. I felt he understood what I was saying, and that he trusted my judgement...if my pain gets to a level I can no longer handle myself, I know it's time to seek help. I'm glad he trusted me as much as I trusted him. We agreed upon a treatment plan that included immediate trigger point injections, restarting p/t, and beginning an anti-inflammatory med. Before he prescribed the med, he asked about pre-existing conditions like CKD, which I have. That's a sign of a thorough physician. Unfortunately, I didn't ask the name of his assistant who laid out the injection 'stuff', assisted him, and took care of the script & p/t referral. She had a great personality! I also give high marks to the front office crew who keep things moving efficiently. I've had many appts @AOSM over the last 5+ years, and have never had an extended wait before being called back. That's no easy task with how busy the practice is with many physicians. Dr. Mike had big shoes to fill taking over my care from the previous spine doctor I saw there for 4+ years, and he exceeded my expectations (not an easy task, lol)! Thanks Dr. Mike, Jen, your assistant, and the staff at AOSM with which I dealt. I will continue recommending Dr. Heller, and now you, to anyone in need of orthopedic care in Las Vegas. Thank you!

Dr. Trainor is an exceptional surgeon. I came in with severe cervical stenosis with symptoms including equilibrium balance, both hands were numb and had shooting pain in both shoulders.
Dr Trainor explained the serious nature and after testing, scheduled surgery. I am pain free with no issues. The entire staff is very knowledgeable and capable. I believe I am very fortunate to have Dr Trainor as my surgeon and highly recommend AOSM for all orthopedic needs.

I had a 10 AM appointment & had paperwork to complete so I got there at 9:30. I saw the doctor at 11:20. I was out at 11:40, X-rays & all. Others were complaining& staff offered to reschedule & did so. I chose to stay because I didn’t want to have to keep returning. I must say every staff member was so nice & accommodating. Not phony. Dr Trainor & his assistants were friendly & efficient. Facility was clean. Expect to wait but know you won’t be met with rude staff members.

The worst experience with Dr. Michael Trainor’s office last month I had an appointment I went in. I was sitting there over an hour. The girl at the front desk came out and said he was gonna be another 2 1/2 hours so I rescheduled for today I went in today. My appointment was at 10:30 and at 12 noon. I went up to the desk to ask how long it would be And the girl was so rude, if she worked for me, she would not be there anymore. she told me it would be 2 1/2 hours I went to run an errand I came back. She said that I wouldn’t be seen for another two hours. I then walked out. no doctor is worth waiting all those hours. I can only imagine if I had a surgery by him and I had to go in for my follow up and had to wait six hours sitting in a chair that is so uncomfortable. so plan on camping out at his office if you would like to be seen by him such a disgrace

I am so disappointed with the lack of courtesy to the patients. I made an initial appointment which was cancelled 2 hours before the appointment time, which I had taken the day off from work to attend. I rescheduled and made another appointment and as I’m sitting in the waiting room for my appointment, the receptionist announced that Dr. Trainer and his P.A. are running TWO hours behind. The elderly lady sitting next me to says she had already been waiting over an hour to see him. If you want to be seen, I recommend you find another doctor because you will never be seen with this one and don’t waste taking a day off of work just so you can go to your appointment. If there was an option for a negative 5 star I would put that.

I've seen Dr. Michael Trainor twice for lower back relief from a grade 1 degenerative anterolisthesis not requiring surgery. Dr. Michael Trainor's diagnosis made sense. Dr. Michael Trainor prescribing physical therapy in my first appointment made sense as well. What didn't make sense was Dr. Michael Trainor's unprofessional conduct at my second appointment after I simply asked him to determine my leg length discrepancy via measurement so I could get a proper-length shoe lift to even out my leg lengths. Logic101 tells me that poor posture associated with my leg length discrepancy would hinder physical therapy efforts to treat my lower back. Dr. Michael Trainor chose to scream at me that he never measures leg lengths because it's not his job, as a 25-year medical professional nobody's ever asked him to do it, and I should go to a podiatrist for that. This was after I spent 2.5 hours taking 3 buses to AOSMLV, waiting an additional one hour past my appointment time to see anyone, and already being told by Dr. Michael Trainor's P.A. beforehand that the doctor would be GLAD to measure leg lengths. Dr. Michael Trainor never calmed down at any point, but did begrudgingly spend 2 minutes measuring my leg lengths with the tape measure I provided, finding a 0.5" discrepancy. After all this aggravation, I'M THROUGH WITH ADVANCED ORTHOPEDICS & SPORTS MEDICINE!

However, the office wait is the worst I've ever experienced...almost 2 hours wait. I don't understand how that's acceptable to office management, who has a sign in the waiting area for patients to expect 1.5 hrs wait. Are they overbooking? My mom's session with the doctor lasted less than 30 min, and we saw patients getting out in about the same time..so what's the deal? A little consideration for the patients, some are in pain, would be a nice treat....how come other offices can maintain a much acceptable wait time? sounds like mismanagement!!

I am currently seeing Michael Trainor for my right hip. However, he performed the surgery on my left shoulder a few years back and I couldn’t be happier. He was very informative about the rehab and made me see the importance of it which I do now have full range of motion of my arm and shoulder never gave it another thought afterwards now I may be facing a hip replacement, but I couldn’t think of a better doctor. I’ve had 3 appointments so far, for my back and neck. It’s a big and clean place. The front desk staff are really polite and helpful. Sometimes they come out to the waiting room, ask how everyone is doing and make sure we all have our paperwork. Sometimes the wait is over an hour, but once I met with the doctor (Dr. Michael Trainor) he spent a good amount of time answering my questions and educating me on my back/neck issues.
I found it strange that they didn’t have me remove my top clothing, put on a gown, and lay on the table so the doctor could get a good look and feel of my back. In sitting position I just kind of pointed to where it hurt and he pressed in a few places.
They had a few X-rays done right there in the office. He personally doesn’t do injections, so he’s referring me out to another pain specialist to do that. I expected that he would be able to schedule me at an outpatient clinic so he could personally do the injections. So now I’m wondering if I should have skipped the orthopedic doctor altogether and just gone straight to the pain specialist.

Long overdue in leaving Dr. Trainor a RAVE REVIEW.
About 8 years ago, our 20-something son was suddenly unable to move after having quickly reached down to toss garbage into a garbage can in the parking garage at work. Suddenly, he felt unbearable back pain which only increased during the course of the day until we had to call 911 to take him to emergency. He could not move.
Long story short, we were given the name of an orthopedic surgeon who was supposedly "the best" in town. We went to the doctor who, with barely looking at our son, recommended fusing his disks. We felt such a serious procedure at our son's age merited a second opinion and we took him to Dr. Trainor. What a blessing to have found him. Dr. Trainor told us that fusing the disks in this case should NOT be the first course of action for a young man. That type of surgery would be recommended for a much older man. He treated our son and our son slowly recovered from the pain. In the years since, he has had 3 episodes where he's "tweaked" his back resulting in rest and recovery as he does have degenerative disk disease. But, his quality of life is great and, had we had his disks fused, there would have been no back-up plan or other options for him. It was shocking to learn that had we trusted the "expert" that my employer had referred us to, our son may very well have ended up crippled at a young age. He has a great life and a great quality of life that could have been taken away from him with unnecessary surgery.

Dr. Trainor is professional, highly-skilled and a true expert. His first recommendation was not to dive into serious surgery the first time out. He will give you an honest opinion and advice that is in your best interest without regard to his bottom line. He saved our son's quality of life. How can you thank someone for that?

I have received treatment from Dr. Michael Trainor for a number of old sports related injuries which had severely limited my mobility as I approached 80. These included spinal cord related issues which impaired by ability to walk.. However after numerous tests, X-Rays, and ultrasounds, Dr. Trainor with the assistance of various
associates was able to either eliminate the condition or mitigate it to the point where it was no longer an impediment to my normal
daily routine. I consider this result to be amazing as I now can look forward to reaching 100 and being pain and mobility free. I strongly recommend Dr. Trainor to anyone having any of my sports

I went to see him about upper I back pain issues , and i already knew my back was not broken , So this Dr come in the room and tells me my back was not broken , omg I knew that , what a waste of my time and this Dr should go back to medical school not all back problems are due to broken bones . As a nurse working with so many surgeons on a daily basis, I found Dr. Trainor exceptionally friendly to talk in asking questions and concerns of my mother. He talked to her before the procedure and called me after the procedure. He takes time to explain pt's condition and doesn't rush a patient to make decisions. Dr. Michael Trainor is amazing! He takes the time to explain everything to you. I suffered from what we thought was sciatica for 7months, ended up being a herniated disc. We went through all the suggested treatments to see if the disc would go back on its own, that's when I found Dr. Trainor, he gave us some suggestions we tried them but in the end we ended up having to do surgery. Front desk staff was unfriendly and barely spoke to me. Wait time to see Doctor 90 minutes. Intern or nurse (He did not give his title) tried to force me to pay for new Xrays when I had just had Xrays done 3 weeks before my appointment.

This was my first visit with this doctor and never met the doctor. I was pulled back to the exam room by a man that I assume was the medical assistant that took some basic information and was told that the doctor wanted x-rays. I had the x-rays done and then saw the doctor's PA who went over treatment options, never actually met with the doctor. Very disappointed. I understand that PA's are learning and that everyone needs to start somewhere and get experience, but I would expect that on my first visit I would have met with the doctor, not his trainee. Not sure if I'll go back thinking about getting a second opinion from a doctor who will actually talk to me.

Dr. Trainer couldn't have been more informative. He explained everything and answered all of my questions in a way that I completely understood, especially when my mother was asking questions. Also, I'm a Union Ironworker. I could tell he knew quite a bit about the injuries that come with my occupation and how the car wreck effected it. After my car accident I started asking the older people I work with about their back injuries, and quite a few of them had been prior patients of Dr. Trainers. They say that the back surgeries he performed on them made them feel like they had the spine of an eighteen year old! And it was the best decision they could have made. I specifically booked an appointment with Dr. Michael Trainor for a knee injury. We had seen him before and wanted his expertise on my situation.My husband and I arrived early and ended up waiting in the waiting room for over an hour. Then were taken to a room where we waited another hour.... ultimately the physician's assistant came in looked at the x-rays gave us her opinion and we left without seeing Dr. Trainor...That was not what we paid for or waited over 2 hours for...I was very disappointed and do not feel that was fair or equitable to see a PA instead of the specialty Dr. we had asked for. To be accurate this review is for the physician assistant that works with Dr. Trainor. It was only after the office visit, the the front office informed me that I could request the Dr. My visit was to address a few different spine issues and seemingly related numbness/tingling in my upper/lower body. I spent the first 10 minutes learning that I could only have one area addressed during an office visit according to insurance reasons.

While I'm not up to speed on insurance policies, it definitely made the visit feel like the PT was more interested in adhering to protocol than providing for my medical needs. I was told I need to choose what medical issue she would discuss with me and limit the conversation to that. Now after moving through that frustrating aspect, the overall tone/demeanor felt like I was in an argument with the PT. I was would ask what I thought were reasonable questions. Her responses felt aggressive and irritated.

My final impressions: this PT should definitely work on her soft skills if she wants to truly care for people.

Dr Trainor informed me of time restrictions related to kyphoplasty. We discussed my T12 compression fracture and the kyphoplasty procedure. As I was already going into the 12th week (maximum range for this procedure) for minimal if any result, he felt therapy would be better. I agreed. Dr Trainor went through every step if the injury, the kyphoplasty procedure, and did not rush me through the exam. 5 stars to the doctor and the staff.

I initially saw Dr Tim Trainor for Carpal Tunnel. He said I needed an MRI due to the pain I was having & should see Dr Michael Trainor after & that he could address the carpal tunnel also. I returned a week after my MRI for my appointment. I waited in the exam room over an hour only to have the PA come in without informing me of any change. She also said she didn't have the MRI report because it was too soon. I called Open MRI after leaving the office & had the report in minutes. I incurred additional expenses & took a lot of my time for nothing since they just referred me to a hand specialist even though I had been told they do carpal tunnel.

I drove 4 hours to an appt with Dr Trainor. I did not get even a hello. Instead I got his asst, a young woman who had a Very high opinion of herself. Leticha Leos. She talked very fast, never asked if I understood her. And proceeded to just insult me by saying I was too old and too heavy" for then to even do anything for me. I was sent home with her telling me to get mris and she would l look at them. Then she said she would give a a tele appt because I refused to drive back from AZ, 4 hours. I am still angry a day later! That woman needs to learn how to talk to patients and not spout fancy words she learned in school! I am Very angry that I purposely set up an appt with Dr Trainor and he did not care enough to see me, his own patient from back in Arizona. Meanwhile, I could hear him in the next room spending an extremely long time talking to another patient. I had a 1:00 appt. the first one. I will Never be going back to those offices! If I could put no stars I would ! 16 years ago February 1st 2006 Dr Trainor performed Back Surgery on My Dad and my Dad Died 3 Days later Due to Negligence on Trainor's part aswell as the Nurses involved at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott AZ. My Father remained in Recovery for 5 hours only being brought out after my Mother addressed her Concern with the extended recovery time, to which we found out my Father Developed Double pneumonia while in Recovery and it was never addressed He was brought to a regular room also where he was seldom checked in on, only when my mother called someone in. My Dad Continued to be fed Narcotics Shutting Down his respiratory system,leading up to and in the mix of Narcotics, the following occured ; At one Point Dr Trainor also knicked my Dads Aorta requiring my Dad to need a blood transfusion, Upon struggling to Breath with in the couple days after the Surgery My Father was held down by at least 6 personel and Restrained to the hospital Bed, He struggled and Suffered! The night My Dad Passed, We had gone home to get sleep trusting the Nurses and an HR after arriving home we received a call that My Dad's Heart stopped and they were working on it ! It took us 5 minutes or less to arrive and upon arrival, we were denied access to his room, when we finally saw him, all equipment was removed and he had signs of being dead long before they called us ! I have recently been Made aware that Dr Trainor has been known to Over Sedate and over medicate his Patients and other patientshave died at his hands due to the same neglect! ! I wouldn't Trust Dr Trainor with my Life !

My husband was sceduled for a knee surgery with Dr. Trainor. The office never called us with the surgery appointment, he had to go to the hospital to find out. The surgery hopefully went well, it's been 5 weeks, it's still swallowed up and he can't work because he still needs pain medicine, we were told after two weeks it should get better. After the first doctor's visit we were told a phisycal therapist will call, they never did and we're trying to call the doctors office, left messages and we never got a call back, we have a very good insurance and I will make a complain with them as well. I can't take x-rays so I was hoping for at least some type of assessment or questions about what bothers it. If you are concerned about wait times in an orthopedic office, you may be disappointed to know that all the orthopedic offices are slammed with patients. Unfortunately, it seems to be the norm......especially when the office is a hub for many doctors. I'm certainly not going to blast the doctor for the way a community office handles it.

I AM going to give you a description of my experience with Dr. Trainor. 22 years ago, I had my right hip replaced by a very well known and respected sports medicine orthopedic surgeon. The surgery took a couple hours and went well, but the healing time was lengthy compared to now. Because I lived in a 2 story house, I converted my dinning room into a small hospital room with a rented hospital bed. I was confined to that bed for a month. It took almost 2 months before I could get up the stairs. It took 4 1/2 months to go back to work and conduct my job. It took 1 1/2 years for the limp to go away.

With the hip replacement for my left leg done 7 weeks ago, Dr. Trainor has been completely up front with me and has explained everything as I have asked. The surgery was completed in 53 minutes and I was up walking down the hallway of the hospital a few hours after surgery with a walker. I stayed in the hospital one day. I was confined to my hospital bed for one week and was able to negotiate stairs (with a cane) the 8th day. I went back to work in 4 weeks and am walking completely normal without a limp 7 weeks later.

This has been one of the best, and most exciting surgery I have had.....especially compared to the last one. I am pain free and can function with some normality. I have movement I haven't experienced in 15 years. Dr. Trainor is the best in my book and I will recommend him to everyone who needs this type of surgery.

I had my pre-op visit for a 2 disc neck fusion today (Monday is the procedure). “Nervous” would be the definition of my emotion about the surgery in the mildest of terms. Dr Trainor and his PA spent a lengthy amount of time answering my questions. Short of having to break out a stick figure diagramed textbook of “Neck Surgery for Ninnies” I left with a sense of relief. I was listened to intently and my concerns were addressed with respect. I often feel awkward asking a Doctor questions and, here, I felt encouraged. I can’t say I am looking forward to Monday; however, I am no longer fearful and looking forward to my pains relief. My mind is no longer eating itself up with “what fors”and “what ifs.” Thank you. In addition, Dr Timothy Trainor (his brother), performed a few procedures for me on my arm 3 weeks ago and I am doing fantastic. I am Middle Aged and it was my 1st surgery. One of the repairs he made was to my Rotator Cuff. Within less than 2 weeks I was at an 180 degree reach with no pain which also bolsters my confidence. The big plus? The unsung hero? What kind of medical facility is this I should’ve been sent to Physical Therapy my fingers are still numb I expected maybe if it continues I will possibly not be able to use my arm?
Same two numbing fingers as when had my office visited my suggestion is run

Even though it to a little bit for Dr to see me, it was fine with me, friendly front desk staff, the same with the assistance, Dr make you feel so welcome, was happy when he told me that my fracture wasn’t that big of a deal, I was afraid to walk with out the walker, but he told me go ahead, step in, walk normal and it will help with my healing, great team, thanks

I had water on R knee, very painful needed to have it drained, couldn't bend knee. Dr. Trainor was loud, attempted to be intimidating told me at least 15 times "I'm an "Expert"! Cold, uncaring, I'll never see him again.

Cortisone shots in both knees. Dr. Michael Trainor is fantastic at giving these shots. On a scale of 1 to 10, the shots are at about a 1. Hardly any pain, and what little there is, is WELL WORTH IT!!
